  1. 89 was the brilliant. I probably bought a copy, but I can't remember the chris nicholl cover. Remind us.
  2. Likewise. Loved watching that side with letiss and Rodney on the wing. Not sure how it all went wrong but treasured the good times. Met Chris many times when I was a nipper and he seemed like a really nice bloke.
  3. I can see me Dad in the family centre in that video. Love it. One of the best Saints games ever. We were fucking magic that day.
  4. I always think that teams from the lower divisions with a contrasting style have the most chance of winning these kind of ties. At the very least you have the be solid defensively and offer a real threat on the break and from set pieces. Is that us? Realistically, you're not going to beat them at their own game. Are we able to play our normal game and cope with their press? What a tough challenge. Hope we play well and create a few chances.
  5. Got to say that the Saudis buying ageing stars at over inflated prices was not the first thing on my mind after losing a third game on four in the championship.
  6. We have the luxury of not needing to rely on him. So, using him as and when RM sees fit is a great situation for us. Hopefully he can continue to develop his game and blossom into a star.
  7. Possibly, but he's only been here a year. He's 22 and still learning his game. Maybe just give him a little more time before binning him?
  8. It would certainly look a lot better than the carriage clock and lump of quartz they currently have in the trophy cabinet.
  9. they don't make motivational speakers like they used to.
  10. If I was a Leicester fan, I'd be a bit disappointed, but at the same time confident the side will bounce back. They played like they have all season. Strong at the back, lots of men behind the ball, quality players in midfield that are very confident to accept the ball while under pressure, and an extremely pacey side that is good on the break. They will be a nightmare for us. If I was a Leeds fan, I'd feel similar to how I do as a Saints fan at the moment. Really happy at wining all these games, but just wondering how good a side we really are as defensively we were carved to bits in the last game by a confident side that is good on the break. Leeds away will obviously be tough, but if we are a little less open at the back than we have been, I think we can match them and have a goal in us. No way we play as badly as we did last season at Elland Road.
  11. leading at Preston and in total control, conceding two poor goals before getting a great point, but we should have won that game. Drawing at home to Rotherham. Far more costly than losing to a decent Hull side. Bounce back tomorrow with a win and the confidence can come back. Not over yet.
  12. just shows, even the best teams can come unstuck. We are very hard on our team, but imagine how annoyed we'd be at our side if we dropped this bollock.
  13. Summerville looked decent. KWP has got to remember to keep him on his left foot.
  14. like an 80s football crowd. Great atmosphere.
  15. Leicester have fucked this up massively.
  16. the £10m choice in the summer was Winks or Charles.
  17. Pretty strong subs for Leeds bringing on Bamford and Dan James. Decent game. If we get points away at these two sides we will have played well.
  18. Very high pace game in the first half. Leicester look pretty damn solid at the back, scary up front. Leeds are very lucky to sill be in the game (it should be three or four) ...but they are.
  19. only based on what I have seen so far - he can go past a player like they are not there and he has electric pace. Those two facets make him very dangerous and has at the very least changed how some opposing teams have played with fullbacks forced to give up on their attacking duties. He has had an impact in some games. Maybe not a huge one, and he may not have changed a game so far, but I think given time he will be a match winner for us. Have you given up on him then Turkish? He certainly has been poor in several games and overall has failed to live up to the price tag.
  20. I liked Boufal. I like Sulemana too. Sure, he hasn't impressed this season and has a lot of developing still to do, but if we are creating fuck all in the play off semi final, he's the ideal player to turn to off the bench to change the game.

sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but still the funniest.
  22. got to have CMs that can take the ball with back to goal and keep it for more than one touch. Obviously you need to pick and choose when you do it as getting caught in possession there kills you, but I agree, the likes of Smallbone simply do not retain the ball to draw opposing players in or indeed play on the half turn enough. Charles not playing up to standard is the issue.
  23. to be fair Hull play the same way (passing it short out from the six yard box) and our own press in the early part of the game exposed its frailties when Smallbone won the ball and Rothwell should have scored. Sadly we couldn't seem to maintain and organised press as the game developed. One thing we didn't do last night, was switch to the thirty yard ball out to the wing from Baz to get us out of jail when they are pressing, but not be totally aimless. Maybe Hull had that ball covered too? We should be watching videos of that game all week to see where we went wrong and importantly how Hull did it far far better. We can learn a lot and if we did, it might make all the difference down the line.
  24. We were obviously tonked by Leicester, largely because of ruthless finishing, but if other teams had the same firepower we may well have been tonked in many more games. We get cut to ribbons at times and there are so many break opportunities that teams don't take advantage of. Defensively, I don't think we are a well organised side at all. Keeping the ball all game has been a great way of hiding that.
  25. well put. We could not get out of our own half at times. It was painful to watch. Only when Hull sat back in the last ten or fifteen minutes did we look a decent side. What I also found noticeable was the ease in which Hull could pass it out from the back. Our press (and this has been the case for a long time now) is not good at all. There were a couple of good presses early on - one where Rothwell should have scored as a result - but other than that Hull just waltzed through it with ease. Defensively, we are not great. We `get away with it' a lot IMO, relying on individuals and poor play by opponents. On another day it could easily have been 5, 6 or more last night.
