In the summer it seemed (if you believe the papers) that the Surman move only fell through because Hunt was not bought by Boro. If Hunt now goes to Wigan (as rumoured today)I wonder if Reading will reignite their interest in Surman. Both left footed midfielders that can play left back. Almost like for like replacement.
-
may be now, but Theo took an age to settle at Arsenal. Given time perhaps Bale will look as good, besides he has been injured a hell of a lot since he left. Baird never was Premiership quality.
-
something to do with dirt cheap season ticket perhaps?
-
that rings true, plus it takes the pressure off all prvious decisions as he can point to the severity of the financial position forcing the employment of League 1 standard players.

seeing as Mr Sale and Lowe are best buds you can take it as red that these are Lowe's words. This is therefore the first time we have heard the term `administration' from Lowe's mouth and tells me is that we are about to undersell Surman and/or Lallana or we have recieved no serious bids for either so are indeed going into administration. The only other reason I can think of for this article would be to explain why we can't afford to bring in anyone else or to sack the manager.

The last thing we need now is for Jan to pull off a freak result
Chez replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
I understand the arguement, but lose and then Wotte replaces JP or perhaps even JP stays, or win and get 3 points in the bag. I'll take the latter every time. I know its hard (perhaps now impossible) to believe but one win might bring another, you have to have that hope, don't you? There is never going to be a time that I want us to lose, ever. No matter how clueless JP acts I still have sympathy for him as he has utter garbage to work with. -
was their a good word to be said after the United game? No one can deny that with an extra 10,000 on the gate each week we would be been in a better financial position and that would perhaps enable us to employ a better quality of player.

I can do that for you. Its Nien Numb. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/thumb/f/f7/Nien_Nunb.jpg/250px-Nien_Nunb.jpg

won everything in the air but Donny didn't have a big target man until they brought Taylro on and every man and his dog knows he's ****. He reminded me of Daily and Killer in that he was more than happy to foul the man if he was beaten. This is just what we need IMO. Make no mistake he is not Killer, but he will get stuck in. I can see him being beaten by a quality striker but he'll do a damn sight better than Lancashire thats for sure. As for the three at the back thing, don't read too much into that. JP said he wanted to load midfield and it made sense to chase the game. The real problem was playing BWP on the left and Holmes on the right, JP needs to explain this IMO.

nto the greatest of home debuts IMO. He fell over twice, which on another day could have been crucial and his positional sense early on looks poor. He sorted that out but his lack of height is a massive concern. With Perry and James as starters in our back four what we could do with is some extra height to help Seijs. Molyneux looks about 5'8". I have to say at one point he ran down the left and found himself isolated as BWP was nowhere to be seen. He showed decent composure to stop and pick out a man inside. But that was pretty much the only good thing he did for me. Still its early doors, lets hope he settles in and becomes a quality signing. With Surman, Mills and Skacel did we really need another left back this season?

I simply do not understand why a club with such limit finances as us would sign a player that was currently injured. It is not as though either player was in demand, besides the CCC has not only the transfer window but also the loan window to work with so there is no reason whatsoever why we needed to sign Gasmi or Pulis until they were fully fit. whoever is making the decisions on players coming in is ****ing clueless. The signings we have made have been terrible IMO. Awful. I know money is tight but nearly all of them have been poor IMO. Holmes - slow, lacks energy, extremely average player Smith - lightweight, bottler, easily kicked out of a game, pace an asset I suppose. Pekhart, height but not much else, limited chances Robertson, no pace, trick or power, showed a lack of ability when the few half chances came his way Pulis, injured, poor reputation, who knows... Gillett, no first touch, short, League 1 standard so far Wotton, very slow, poor technique, league 1 standard Schneiderlin, doesn't tackle, doesn't get up and down, great technique but the midfield area requires more. Forecast, did we need a third senior keeper when money was so tight? How much did he cost I wonder? Gasmi, small, injured, not got up to speed of the English game by January 09 Moleneux, short, falls over a lot (get some studs on). Not all that inspiriing so far. Lets see how he improves. Perry, committed and whole hearted but slow, short and well past his best. With Killer not fully fit did we want an old guy that might not be able to play every week? Seijs, got the height and looks the part, lets see what he does against a big striker. What a sorry list that is.
-
the guy clearly has ability on the ball but he reminds me very much of Ballack in that he strolls around and never seems to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. He made one tackle on Saturday - his 5th all season and not once did he sprint to hussle an oponent. I haven't seen him get on the ball and get moves started either nor any of his decent longer passes. Very very poor display. IMO a defensive central midfielder is a must. Wotton and Gillett are not good enough so we need to get someone in quick sharp.
-
Calm down dear. Of course Saga has only played one (mind you he wasn't actually prolific last season was he with his massive 3 goals in total). I was just highlighting how pathetic your name calling is. It makes me laugh how precious people are about Dobie on here whilst at the same time laying into McGoldrick who is in his first full season in the first team.
-
are these kids likely to be allowed to come over here (as Beckham was) and are they going to want to? If they are good enough then get them over here. Great idea, we need whatever help we can get and as Lowe said a few years back we need to be innovative.

how about a lifetime season ticket for £5k
-
So standard match day tickets are reduced by 26%, but season ticket prices are only reduced by 15%. Using your prices buying a ST will therefore effectively get me 6 free games - compared to if I was going to go to every game paying on the gate. Using your figures I wouold seriously consider not bothering getting a ST next season and I got my first back in 1984.
-
I don't actually understand Luker when he says that Season ticket holders didn't lose out when Forrest ticket prices were reduced by £9. That is simply not true. The wholepoint of buying a ST is that you get a discount by buying in bulk. If the price of a single match day ticket is then reduced (half way through a season) the saving ST holders end up making is also reduced. Obviously a one off is OK but Lukers's already talking about another game and perhaps even the last few homes games are being considered. In the sales brochure it actually publishes the fact that X savings are made when you buy a ST (I can't remember the exact amount). If the club then lowers match day prices then this is savings figure becomes inaccurate. £380 ST, match day ticket 23 x £24 = £552 Saving £172 If ticket prices are reduced to £15 (as with the Forest game) then this savings figure goes down by £9 each time. Yes it doesn't cost season ticket holders any extra money when prices are reduced, but if lets say for arguements sake that another 4 games are reduced on top of the forest game, that will be a toal of £45 removed from my overall £172 saving. Still a saving I agree, but this is a lot less attractive than was originally advertised. If you chuck in a couple of games missed due to weddings/illness or whatever then before you know it the ST hardly looks worth it. IMO the club needs to be very careful indeed about possibly upsetting the 10,000 ST holders in an effort to get some of the 15,000 more `casual' attendees (no offence intended to any non season ticket holders) back to SMS. I would love to see the ground full with reduced prices but these prices need to be set out clearly at the start of the season, otherwise ST holders are going to feel they have been conned, simply will not bother to renew and in the end that WILL lower attendances in the long run. ST holders are the lifeblood of the club make no mistake about it. Treat them like idiots at your peril.

YOU HAD A NUMBER OF CLUBS INTERESTED IN YOU WHEN YOU LEFT DERBY, WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SOUTHAMPTON? I actually had a spell in Holland last season and that’s probably where Jan Poortvliet and his staff first saw me play. He spoke to me when he took over at Southampton and told me what he thought my role in the team was going to be and I was impressed with what he had to say. I also spoke to the chairman and everything just felt right, they are a massive club.

The echo talked about additional signing though, I wonder if these are dependant on Euell and Skacel leaving.

League games, but does Manure not count then?

he has been extremely unluck with injuries meaning he has been in and out of the side. He hasn't always played left back for them either, In his first seaon he seemed to play left midfield most of the time. OK so he dived in a couple of times and was well beaten - all shown up on TV - but IMO he is still a decent defender (as well as attacker). he has good pace, is good in the air, doesn't mind a tackle and doesn't ball watch. Add to this a fantastic first touch, good passing technique and the ability to actually beat people. What he might be is a little niave. He also thinks that he is a little quicker than really is - so at times is not getting to the ball ahead of oponents - like he did constanty for us. IMO he is a great talent and people quickly forget how important he was for us in our play off season. He was our entire attack at times.
-
depending how well we are playing, whether it was two run against the play hardluck story type goals, or two totally deserved goals will make a difference. If it was the latter I will probably be silent and back to thinking we are doomed. Until that happens lets get behind the lads though aye.
-
I read it as Saga and Seijs, as apposed to new people training with us such as Daily and Lupoli.

don't you mean Saganothingonthescoresheetyet and David 2 in 3 McGoldrick?
