  1. at last we have a back four capable of handling oponents long ball game. With Lambert, Patterson and Hammond all adding height we should be safe as houses at set peices. Lets hope we don't start to get undone by pace now.

is Thompson actually pacey? I've not seen him demonstrate it as yet.
  3. October was mentioned at the time.
  4. if we start serving up some chances for the lad then he'll start scoring goals again. I've never been a big fan, but the biggest reason for him failing to rack up the goals in recent times is the lack of chances created. Hopefully that will change.

its always hard to get excited by a signing that we have known about for yonks, but if you try to put that out of your mind and concentrate on the fact that we have signed a 6'4" brute of a centre back that should put a big dent in the number of goals conceded from set peices - then you start to think again what a great signing this is.
  6. only seen him five or six times and on each occasion he took the fullback apart with is pace, but you are right his touch wasn't always spot on now his final ball. As I understand it his wage at Brum was massive which was the key reasons for not renewing his loan dea. last January. So much so that when they didn't extend the loan period there were enough wages available to pay three players (Sinclair, Bowyer and Bouazza).
  7. Dejan Stefanovic now available. ah too late.
  8. how very dare you.
  9. is there a possibility of Rowan Vine joining us?
  10. which paid the wages.
  11. Pearson doesn't rate him (saga) so can't see that.
  12. has the best agent in football.
  13. Chris Perry at right back, you have to be out of your mind. Can't think of a worst choice.

  15. not sure McGoldrick was ever a pcey striker, but I agree with your sentiments on needin something completely different from Lambert - ie not a big number 9.

a couple of years back? Wow. Try five years ago and then you'd have shown some real foresight. Plenty of others saw something in him long before he was being booed by the idiots I might add (though not many at St Andrews when he played in midfiled). By the way just because you rated one player against the flow and he came good it doesn't mean every player opinion you have is accurate though I admit the jury is still out on Gillett.
  17. can't argue with that really, although he has played pretty well in a few other games too, especially at the start of last season when we were intent on passing all day long no matter where it toook us (backwards usually) which very much suited him. I'd like to stress again that he's a young lad and apart from a few geneous' and players with great pace (which he is neither), youngsters tend to take their time to really shine.
  18. your point is?
  19. to be fare to him he has looked much better this season (you would assume having filled out a bit, settled in and got more used to the speed of the game) and seeing as he is a young lad he is only ever going to improve. We actually tend to look a much worse side when he subbed, simply because we don't then have the quality in the middle to get teh ball under control and play so we hood it a la Wotton - because they are not good enough on the ball.
  20. not noticed him getting the crap knocked out of him to be honest. Besides IMO the higher up the league the more physically demanding the league is - faster, stronger oponents, with less time and space to get the ball down and avoid tackles. There are as many bad tackles in the top flight as in League 1. A popular mis conception that its one big blood fest down here. Less quality, yes, but no more physical battles really.
  21. good. Lets not take any old cast offs. Why we took Stern John I will never know and choosing Forecast over cash seemed a crazy decision. I have to say I wasn't over enamoured by the Le Saux signing either (a massive backwards step from a pacey bridge to a slow, aging, injury prone replacement), but I appreciate others won't agree with that. These part exchange deals just stink of laziness to me. I know signing players is a difficult task but more often than not its settling for second best.

there is no gettign away fromthe fact that at times his first touch lets him down and because he plays in that area just in front of the back four, when it does it puts us in serious danger. Its not allt he time, just once or twice, but overall his touch is not quite up to standard. Having said that he makes up for it compared to Wotton in the speed he gets around the park. He was excellent sweeping in front of the back four last season and we missed him badly when he got injured.
  23. Wonder if AP invited Gunn down with a view to him doing a bit of scouting for us whilst he was waiting for another job to come along? Mind you he has done almost every job possible at Norwich so maybe he will be asked to be director of football (be on the board btu with knowledge of football). Long shot I know. Just bandying the idea around. Regarding Jardi. Is he training with us?
  24. thats a bloody good idea.
