if that is directed at me then the anwwer is yes I went to the game and yes he was poor. I would add though that I don't rate him at all. A slow cenyre back that doesn't win headers is a chocolate fireguard in my book.
-
so Harding is quick then? I don't see the point in you saying he was the best player on Tuesday. What has that got to do with my post? At no point have I said any of the players are poor (I actually said that I knew what they offered the side) I was merley pointing out their weaknesses based on the games I've seen so far. You can be MOTM each week but still have a weakness. Again so you are saying that Murty is not small? Do you people even read posts that offer slight negatives or are you so keen to jump in that you don't bother? Asd I said Lambert is static to in fact you agree with me fully. At no pont have I said he is not good. Try reading my post again sunshine before responidng to it.

all of them? So Murty is not small?

As I said yesterday I am enthused by the two new signings (and I can see what Lambert and the others offer), but before people get carried away I'd like to point out a few weaknesses in some of the six: Harding - lacks pace, doesn't venture forward much and I'm not sure he is all that in the air for a six footer - why is he on the post for corners I ask myself? Murty - small, slow, doesn't get forward. Is he actually better than James? Lambert - fairly static, doesn't seem to want to try and win every arial ball (let Rasiak fail to do that at Huddersfield) Mellis - pretty lightweight for a central midfielder, wonder if he can tackle, wonder if he can control a game - if you are playing centre mid than you need to be able to. Hammond - we'll see Trotman - we'll see Mind you as people have pointed out these players are going to have to be good to make up for Perry, Thomas, Wotton, no pace up front or out wide and no real plan other than to hoof it up to Lambert/Rasiak/Patterson.
-
but did we? As I recall once JPS got in the side we reduced set peice goals considerably. Besides one player can't be everywhere and having 5'2" Perry next door winning **** all is quite a handicap never mind relatively poor fullbacks (arial speaking) and no real big man up front to come back and help out. I'd take JPS in a shot. He's a ball winner. Comitted and powerful with just enough pace to get by.

you only have to look at how tough Lee Clark found it when he took charge at Huddersfield to know that turning a team round take time, but if you give the right man enough time then the club will prosper. The fact Pardew identified immediately that our CB's are ****e filled me with great confidence.

reminds me of a certain little thieving bastard...
-
aye? But we have sunk to league 1 and when you come to terms with that then you'll realise that signing a half million pound 22 year old centre back (allbeit for 6 months) is actually something tolift the spirits - especialyl for those thathave witnessed what the current CB encumbants have to offer.
-
How abotu Arron Davies from Forest. Was a top performer in league 1 for Yeovil, tore Forest apart a couple of seasons ago so they bought him and he has failed to deliver for them. Might be worth a look. Not getting into their league side.
-
if he settles in quick I'd like to think we might get him signed up for the full year. I'm fascinated to see how Hammond and Trottman fair. For far too long we have bought `average' name players (Harding might even fit into this category) instead of raiding the best talent from the lower leagues. Now we are in a lower league we finally take advantage. Its been a very very bad week for me so I'm excited at this signing and the potential forward steps we might be taking.
-
they certainly did, but note also that Pearson also bought Michael Morrison a young player from Cambridge United - a young pacey CB with lower league experience similar to our man Trot

Plenty are available for loan or for sale IMO: Wayne Thomas Marek Saganowski Chris Perry Grzegorz Rasiak Paul Wotton Lee Holmes Tommy Forecast Oliver Lancashire Anthony Pulis Lee Molyneux Michael Poke Jake Thomson Jamie White Oscar Gobern Jack Boyle Ryan Doble Andrej Pernecky Jack Saville Callum McNish Ben Reeves

Agreed. Guthrie was absolutely superb for us and perhaps more important than the Saga loan signing. If the players that come in are better than the ones you have it doesn't matter if they are loans or not. I welcome the lad with open arms. I've been critical of Perry and Thomas for longer than I can remember so seeing any alternative makes me happy.
-
I thought I knew allt he decent young dentre backs out there in leaguers 1 and 2 but obviously I don't as I don't know this young fella, but if Preston are willing to stump up £500,000 for him then you'd got to think he has something abotu him as they don't ever spend any money and they do usually unearth some decent centre backs. To be honest anyone is going to be better than what we have. I'd like to see another CB as well perhaps even bigger than 6'2".

MC has it. Enjoy the game lads (and lasses). We are going to take them apart.
-
well thanks for that information. Very useful. Enjoy the game. If I miss out I'll have to treat myself to a Carlise roadtrip.
-
thanks for the offer but I'm afraid I'm going to struggle to get out of work early enough for your minibus. Flippin car. Still waiting for the garage to confirm the head gasket issue as I guess there is a small chance its not that and I can make my own way there.
-
head gasket just gone on my car so I will either have a ticket going - collection near Southampton train station - or I need a lift to the game - anyone help me?
-
what a load of cack. No one is going to tell me he lacks bottle. I've never seen a man as comitted as Wotton. He was like a man posessed at Ashton Gate last season.
-
I thought Wright did a decent job. I can't say that about Wotton.
-
I like your assessment of Gobern. He looked right at home at CM when he played there against Manure. I don't see him as a wide midfielder.
-
**** poor crossing from a player ill at ease at right midfield. At best he's a holding midfield player. Never a right midfielder in a million years.
