  1. one of worst games on Saturday though
  2. play Patterson, he has all the attributes to lead the line with McGoldrick free to play the second striker role behind him.
  3. two problems with that idea: 1) no one wants to buy Saga, Rasiak or John especially when they can loan them for free (wages apart). 2) any funds coming in through player sales will need to be used to lower the overdraft.
  4. and you sir are a **** of the highest order. Stern is no messiah and people with differign opinions to your own are no mopre skates than they are stupid. McGoldrick is improving all the time, is on peanuts compared to John and actually runs around. His link up play with Lallana is a delight. By the end of the season we will have a real talent on our hands and if we can keep hold of the guy we may end up with another get out of jail free card to trade in.
  5. don't see your logic about Stern. Perhaps they just wanted a short term loan to see how he fitted in. If he doesn't do the business they can gie him a miss. Rasiak is on loan for the season. Its Dobie thats back.
  6. totally with you.
  7. my 11 too. Patterson looks quality to me and McGoldrick looks best in the hole down the middle.
  8. boy was it cold and Charlton still have terrible half time service. Not a bad game and glad to see that we can come out after half time and improve lie so many sides do at SMS. Great substitution by Jan, he starting to make the right decision. Perhaps I was wrong about him. Davis - 8 one save came from his dropped catch. Some rediculous short passes need to be eradicated. One world class save. James 5 - like his composure on the ball and decent crossing but ****ing hell he is slow and lightweight. He is a massive weak link when it comes to deep crosses. Boy do we need a real right back. Cork (3 first half) 8 second half. Gray ****ed all over him. In midfield he ran the show with Surman. Perry 7 - solid but only when Pearce was along side him. Skacel 7 decent display. Nothing offered going forward though. Schneiderlin 6 only when we had three in the middle did we get control. Get stuck in lad. Surman 8 - tremendous effort. He was everywhere and bombed on all game. In top form and I just can't understand anyone that does not see his talent. McGoldrick 7 not bad game, just needed a little more. Lallana - 6 looked slightly tired and gave the ball away quite a bit. Caused problems but lack of end product again. BWP 4 - must be something about the valley. He was dreadful last season and didn't do nearly enough on Saturday. Get to the ****ing byeline. Robertson 2 - ****e. Drop him. Pearce 8 tower of strength and we suddenly looked solid at the back. Patterson 8 - time to start him. Looks miles better than Robertson. If we got to the byeline and crossed we would be more of a threat. A draw was about fair. Can't wait for the next game. Watching Saints right now is very good fun.
  9. Burton got away it. If only I had a louder voice.
  10. can't be bothered with all the plastic/uber ********. Just ****ing happy we haven't got some poxy home draw against another ccc side. Can't wait to see if Schneidelin, Cork, McGoldrick, Surman and Lallana can cut it against Premiership opposition.
  11. Lucetti was 36 (now 37), and wanted a two year deal. Anyone that watched him closely last season will have seen that he was well past his best (which was good I might add).
  12. there are others like you but I am certainly not one of them. Apart from the fact he is still only 22, is finding his feet in the middle and playing in a very average side, Surman has played pretty well in most games this season and has been excellent in the last three or four IMO. How many current Saints players nutmeg an opponent, outmuscle him to the ball, beat the next man all hands up and create havoc in the opponents midfield? That was tremendous play in front of the Northam and just a snippet of what he does wee in week out. other than fancy footwork Surman ran all night long. He worked his socks off and constantly made surging runs forward though not always found. He saw more of the ball than anyone else, never shying away from his responsibilities. Yes some passes go astray but he's always looking to create soemthing and thread that kilelr ball. Enjoy that as when he is sold we will haev the like sof Wotton hoofing it anywhere and the likes of you moaning how **** we are. By the way I have never seen him pull out of a tackle. If I was you I'd take that guys advice.
  13. Quinn and Keane spent millions (about £7m in fact before the summer wondow closed) as soon as they took over and then went on a massive winning streak. I wonder what got fans returning, Quinn saying the right things or the team threatening promotion?
  14. but John (I bet more like £17k a week), Saga, Rasiak (Ibet closer to 17k a week) and Dyer have only left the wage bill temporarilty. We paid them ALL summer and we will pay them all next summer as well - not to mention the fact John, Saga and Dyer are short term loans not the full season.
  15. the thing is though Arizona, the likes of Rasiak, Saga, Skacel etc are going to be on 15-20k a week - thats why the wage bill is £12m. The young replacements are going to be on about £1-2k a week. That is a massive difference. We will never agree on Saga. IMO he is just another Dobie that got lucky when on loan then failed to rediscover that scoring touch when we signed him. Without the goals he offered nothing. I disagree fully that he worked harder than anyone else. John did less running but BWP mtached it and at pace.

    Dyer

seemed a strange decision to me to. He's a muchbetter player than Smith and bearing in mind he is still a youngster people need to cut him some slack in terms of his performances on the pitch. Perhaps Jan felt he was not trying hard enough in training or was a bad example to his other youngsters... I have to say in Robertson we have someone that tries hard but I don't see huge amounts of quality there yet.
  17. Cork is the only one worth signing. Pearce has done OK but I'd hope there was better out there. If Smith signs then I will demand my money money back.

boy was he bad when he first came into the side but that was in the Premiership. I saw his first start at St Andrews and he was the worst player I have ever seen. He made Wotton look classy. He's not looked back since he was pushed up front rather than playing in midfield where his horrific first touch made him look like a donkey. Only the SMS diots failed to see immediately that he offered a real threat up front despite not taking as many chances as people wanted early doors. Makes me laugh thinking about all the mongs who said he was average and not worth the £6.5m we sold him for (or was it £4.8m???).
  19. if keeping us out of administration is going forward then so far yes, although closing down the Itchen corner and signing Wotton certainly did not help IMO.
  20. As I understood it he trippled his wages when he went to Fulham. That doesn't sound like the type of wage we can afford now does it? As for Lallana going to Spurs. What a load of rubbish. Arry got burned on the last multi million pound tranfer from the CCC and I doubt he will rush to do that again.
  21. Dobie, I mean Sags's season in a nutshell: cack, dropped, injured, not given a chance, cack, dropped. I have no idea why we signed the other two either. We shoul not have been signing anyone, we should have been cutting back, hard, except in defence where we were short.
  22. 16k crowds and still having Skacel, Thomas, Davis and John earning 3 or 4 times what we can afford to pay. BTW you still have to pay players during the summer months so we need to build a nest egg to pay for Saga, John and Rasiak.
  23. We haev to make a profit to pay any of the overdraft off. The 16k crowds have put paid to that. Skacel, Thomas, John and Davis wages are monsterous compared to the income. Lose those four and Rasiak and Saga (we paid them all summer and we will pay them all next summer) and we might start to make a few bob which will help reduce the overdraft.
  24. I disagree with that. Under Lowe I think the shortfall in income as a result of relegation was covered by player sales and lower expenditure. The financial problems have arisen since with the £7m splurge failing to get us promoted and then some absolutely horrific decision making in the summer before last. Why Stern John and Saga were bought I will never know. We had Rasiak on huge wages already and there was no way we could afford those three when the parachute payment was to be removed. Add to that every man and his dog knew that ST sales would be down. Absolute ****ing madness to increase the wage bill. Crazy. That board want shooting. The horrific financial problems we have now and the effects this brings is purely down to those decisions.
  25. you don't pay a loss off. You pay back any loans you have taken to fund that spending. ie we haev built up a sizeable overdraft with the bank and now we have to start reduing that. The problem is we aer not making any profits each week to reduce the overdraft. With crowds so low we are probably make a loss every week so the overdaft will just grow. The bank will set deadlines for reductions say £5m to £4m by the end of January and £4m to £3m by the end of the summer. What we will have to do it come up with that money somehow (anyhow) or they could get heavy.
