  1. no they don't. Chelsea and Arsenal play through the middle all day long. However they have the class in the middle to do that. You might be right about our problems, but you're wrong to say that width is everything.

happily take HART to run our youth set up should he get the old tin tack.

    WGS to skates?

nah. He must have read that Forum. They stopped taking bets on ****flaps returning to **** park...and he did.

    WGS to skates?

Couple of bookies stopped taking bets on WGS to be next Skate manager according to mate of mine.
  5. I'd like to see Mills in the side myself. Great left foot, lots of energy and he looks like the sort of player that is going to get better and better rather than already reached his potential. He needs a long run of games IMO. I'm not a fan of Harding so would be happy to see him play at left back, but maybe when Thomas returns so we still have that height advantage that we have now.
  6. by the same account: Lambert and Saga - not working Lambert and Waigo - might work
  7. you are obsessed by width. Chelsea don't play with width or Arsenal and they seem to do quite well. The game is not ALL about width. Even Barca, who obviously have wingers, tend to play narrow and Messi is foreever coming in off the wing as Ronaldinho did before him fromt he pther side.
  8. is there anyone left in the world that actually believes a single word that comes out of the mouth of Peter Tells Stories? I wouldn't trust him with yours.
  9. he can get on the end of flick ons, run the channels, turn defences, latch onto through balls...in fact all the things Saga is not doing or offering. Saga needs chances on a plate. Until we start delivering that perhaps we need to pick a striker, Waigo, that will create different opportunities.
  10. so you are you saying that Lallana isn't a round peg. I don't see any round pegs to fit the left an right midfield positions. In fact I've been saying it for well over a year now. Holmes, Pappa, Mills, James, Lallana, Thomson, McClaggon, Mellis, at best they are all oval pegs.
  11. you have made a very good point indeed. I loved the way we played at the start of last season with wide men and a man in the hole giving us a real fluid feel. If we had had the right players with the right qualities then it may well have worked The big draw back of course was that the formation left our fullbacks extremely exposed and that cost us time after time. Only when Gillett started covering all the holes did we ever look reasonably tight. Davis Thomas Jardi Trottman Harding Hammond Schneiderlin Pappa Lallana Holmes Lambert Would we win more games than with a 4-4-2?
  12. how much was it for a ticket to watch Brum at home last season?
  13. out of interest, what is their agenda?
  14. Saga is a battler? Could have fooled me. Much rather see Waigo down the middle. When you play out wide you have to chase back - unless of course you are proposing a change of formation. I wouldn't rely on Waigo tracking runners.
  15. he does that a lot. He seems to think that because he hasn't got the pace he might as well just get it into the mixer. To be fair he delivers some decent crosses but from that angle it is so much easier to defend than if he crossed from closer tot he byeline. I'm not sure why our wide men are so worried abotu dribblign it down to the corner. At worst you'll usually get a throw or a corner by heading down there, at best you'll get to the byeline and deliver a cross that is very difficult to defend.
  16. I thought Mr Young was going to employ him at Brum. I get the feeling he knows he can earn much more money on the fringes of football (agent, TV work etc.) than working his way through the managerial minefield.
  17. "win", dive might be a better description. The midfield and wide men can certainly be blamed for the lack of chances, god knows how many times I have shouted at James to get to the byleline before crossing, but you have to look at Saga's positioning throughout the game. Lambert won pretty much every single header *****il they put two men on him) and Saga failed to get onto a single flick on. Not one. I realise that its not always easy to predict where the ball is going to go, but at times it was bloody obvious that Saga just needed to gamble and he would be n to a good thing. I'd be tempted to give him just a little longer to get in tune with Lambert, but if he still fails to take advantage then questions have to be asked and Waigo has to get his chance.
  18. that is the perfect description of Saga's performance in the Yoevil game. This lack of pace or sharpness is why he is not carving out any chances for himself.
  19. I've been thinking along the same lines, but I think we just should just live with it. What would you prefer: conceding one or two perfecty executed free play goals due to lack of pace at the back or conceding a continuous supply of goals, from set pieces and long balls, due to a lack of height at the back? I thought Yoevil offered a reasonably pacey attack and it wasn't a problem. When we are 1-0 up with ten minutes to go and we are up against three big forwards and the opposition are lumping it forward, who would you prefer Perry or Jardi? It's a no brainer.
  20. I thought I'd see Arizona on here before long and despite my lack of love for Saga he has a point regarding his stats. Saga has scored goals at times and these balance out the times when he doesn't. During those quiet periods I don't remember him missing hundreds of chances. If you want a striker to put away chances perhaps he is your man, but if you are looking for a striker to create something himself then he certainly isn't. I have to say I was dissapointed he didn't get on to at least one of the three hundred flick on's Lambert managed to win. Perhaps they need more time to gel, or perhaps Saga is just not the right partner. He likes to come short (as Lambert does) and we need someone to go beyond Lambert. I won't say he is ****e, even though I have never rated him, but he certainly poses little threat right now and I'd much rather mark him than any of our other strikers. Things change though and with the back four solid the midfield will get a little more freedom to attack and the chance might start arriving. Its a long season, we are going to need Wago, Saga and indeed Patterson to contribute at some stage so lets give him another game or so before chucking him on the heap.
  21. I'd lie to add that he didn't just win headrs, when he won them they went bloody miles. Really clearing our lines and reducing the risk of opponents picking up the pieces in dangerous areas.
  22. we weren't sloppy or crap. We just don't seem to have an idea how to create chances. e were lucky with the pens. Seen us play a lot lot worse. Seen us play a hell of a lto better and lose.
  23. Obviously happy to get the win but in all honesty if the ref hadn't gifted us one or maybe both penalties (first was a dive, second may well have been handball after all) it would have been 0-0. We controlled the game well and dominated possession, but we didn't get to the byeline ever or cause them hardly any problems at all in the final third. Saga was poor and Waigo should have got longer. When he came on we at least got behind them a bit. Still we look very solid indeed and perhaps the attacking potency will come as a result. Davis 8 solid. Good catching from crosses and handled long range stuff with ease. Thomas 7 solid. Got caught once but more than happy with him at right back. Jardi 9 very solid. Powerhouse. He will get caught for pace somewhere but accept that and enjoy him winning headers all day. Trottman 7 like Thomas got caught once but solid. Stupid booking for kickign ball away. Harding 6 Gave the ball away more than any other player. On a different wavelength sometimes with his passing. Pretty solid, but never tested by the right sided player. Schneiderlin 8 first half 4 second. Lack of stamina is a concern as we often take him off and fall apart (we didn't today). Hammond 8 Was everywhere in the first half. Really gets stuck in but has ability on the ball. James 6 played in three positions but mostly at right midfield where he offered little going forward but was solid (again). Held an end so to speak. Not the answer at right midfield if you ask me. Lallana 6 With so many defensive options we need more on the attack, but there was little creativity. Some decent free kicks. Corners better bu not great. See Mills. Lambert 8 Won so many flick ons its not true. In the end two mean challenged him for every high ball. Decent pens. Saga 4 Get on the end of a flick on FFS. As I have always said, not quick and offers little unless chances are created for him - which we aren't. Offside a lot. Too similar to Lambert in that he drops deep. Lambert wins stuff in the air and Saga need to get on the end. Maybe they need more time to get a partnership going, but as soon as Papa came on we looked so much more dangerous. Mills 7 great corners. A real threat. Why he did not take them all (Lallana grabbing one and chiping it straight into te keepers hands) I willnever know. The boy is going to go far IMO. Papa 6 offside about 15 times in ten minutes but just that extra bit of pace and willingness to run beyond Lambert and get their centre backs turning was great to see after suffering Saga all game doing **** all. Looking forward to seeing more. Looks like he has a first touch.
  24. very good point. They all even out and if they don't, well, such is life.
  25. Embarresed by the first one. I honestly found it hard to even celebrate. I can't abide cheats and having f'd and blinded at that Arsenal cheat on the tele the other week I found it impossible to celebrate that rediculous dive. I'm amazed the ref gave it. From my angle in the Kingland/Northam corner it never looked a pen. I'd have no problem whatsoever in seeing the FA ban Saga for 3 games for that.
