  1. I would imagine that we would only offer vastly reduced terms though. There are rumours he is on anywhere between £8-15k p/w. Just plucking a figure from the sky, I would imagine we would be unwilling to pay him any more than 5k at the most, more likely 2 or 3. That is a hell of a pay cut. Plus with the dangers of relegation looming over us, I doubt we would be willing to extend his contract past this season anyway. If we stay up, we may well wish to keep him, but I can't see us wanting to be tied in to paying him for an additional year, if the worst happens and we slip into league 1.
  2. Yep, they beat them 2-1. Think Defoe got the winner late on. It pains me to say it, but I did have him in my fantasy team that week, hence why I remember.
  3. Interesting. It's possible we could make him an offer, but it would have to be a big cut (at least half of his wages) for us to consider doing it, I think. Looking at the example of some of our other players off-loaded in the summer, he may realise that he could well be unlikely to get another club willing to match his wages, so Jason may just choose to see out his contract with us. I'm almost certain he could have been had on a free transfer in the summer and it doesn't seem like we were inundated with others for him? If it saved us a lot of money, then I can see the reasoning behind it, but I would personally like to see him stay. He offers us a bit of physical presence up front and he has quite a lot of experience.
  4. Brilliant game. It's very similar to Oblivion, but the gameplay is a bit faster, you use guns etc. For £20, it's an absolute steal. You'll never forget, the first time you take a raiser's head off with the railway rifle or encounter one of the behemoths.
  5. With regards to Pearson and his cost, would he not have had to bring in some additional coaches himself? If he was given a long-term contract, would he not have at least wanted an assistant? Or would he have coached the first team and the reserves himself? I honestly can't remember, was there any overlap between Dodd and Gorman doing coaching at the club and Pearson's appointment, or were they let go as soon as Pearson was appointed?

    Robertson

I thought Robertson was poor last night. I agree that he doesn't really seem to be particularly good at anything and for a big lad, he doesn't show much strength up front. I'd like to see DMG up front with Euell, at least Jason offers some presence up front. I still think it's a bit early to be playing Paterson from the start in every game, but I would have liked him to be given more of an opportunity. Was very frustrated that Jan didn't change his formation last night. Would have loved to seen Paterson brought on instead of Mills and 2 up front.
  7. Watford are struggling side and he's hardly pulling up trees there, injuries or not. I actually think he recovered from his injury a while ago and now just can't get in the team. He wasn't even on the bench last night. We can't afford to take him back regardless of anything else, so it's something of a moot point. With regards to whether we can sell him in January, I think it depends on whether we have received a loan fee for him. If we have, then we can't recall him and can't sell him out from under them. If we haven't, then I think we could technically recall him from loan and then sell him, should we wish to. Seeing as they didn't send him back after he was injured in for 2 months, I would imagine that a small loan fee has been paid, so he'll be there until the end of the season, regardless.
  8. I even think his promotion was overrated. He spent quite a lot and was loaned Jonny Evans and Danny Simpson from Man Utd. Evans basically ran their whole defence. When you consider he effectively had a very good CCC squad to start with, it's not an outstanding achievement. He then spent huge amounts in the prem. £80m to still be in relegation trouble? By my reckoning Sunderland have at least 10 first team strikers on their books, 11 if you count Dwight Yorke. Prem money or not, that must be a huge drain on thier wage bill and is simply far too many. Did he resign? Anyone think he may have jumped before he was pushed?
  9. I agree, I would hate to see us lose Schneiderlin or Davis in January, they are much more important than the other 2. If we can somehow keep hold Cork and Pearce as well, I will be delighted. If we do sign this lad on loan from Everton, I would imagine that may spell the end of Rudi. He has done well since he came back into the side, but if he is still one of our highest earners... Lallana will be a great player, but he needs to learn how to use his ability to hurt the opposition. He reminds me a bit of Ronaldo when he first went to Man Utd, supremely talented, but in need of some guidance. It will hopefully come with time, but as it stands we could afford to lose him, if it meant staving off administration
  10. The girl who beat you to the book lives just around the corner from where the guy who gave you the quest stands. You can steal it back from her and then complete the quest. At least that's what I did.
  11. Have you seen this about Assassin's creed 2? http://uk.gamespot.com/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=26688230&om_act=convert&om_clk=morenews&tag=morenews;title;15
  12. You can loot lockpicks from dead bandits you find in dungeons. Alternatively, you can join the thieves guild and then buy them from certain people within the guild. Just talk to a beggar and raise their disposition high using the minigame and ask them about the grey fox. This should trigger this quest. To repeat myself again, as soon as you get to level 10 make sure you do Nocturnal's daedric shrine quest and get the skeleton key. It's an unbreakable lockpick, so you can simply keep pressing auto-attempt until you are successful at picking the lock. I bloody hate that lock-picking mini-game, I much prefer the Fallout 3 version.
  13. I have a PS3 and I'm very happy with it. My little brother has a 360 and he loves it. I think both have decent games out for them and most games are dual platform these days. Yes the 360 has a larger install base, but I do think that a lot of this is due to pricing and the year's headstart, Microsoft must be making a big loss one each unit sold (Sony must be with the PS3 as well to be fair). When I was choosing which console to buy I looked at the various options and for me the PS3 appealed more. I wasn't happy with having to play £40 a year for online play, plus having to buy a wireless bridge and a controller charger, when all of this was already built into the PS3. I was a bit put off by the RROD debacle as well. Both of the systems have pros and cons: There are some great exclusive games out for the 360 (Mass Effect, Fable II) but there are also some great exclusives for the PS3 (MGS4, Uncharted). The 360 had / has RROD issues and charges you for wireless play. The PS3 requires some lengthy installs of games and is apparently difficult to develop for. At the end of day I would look at the exclusive titles for each machine and decide which one appeals to you the most. I could not care less about which system has sold more in Japan, or who won the sales war over Black Friday. Both are great machines and I'm just glad that as gamers we have so many good games available for us to play!
  14. That is a terrible story in the Sun. Where's the actual facts within it? We know that things are hard for us financially and we may have to sell one or two. This article paints as we need to immediately these 2 players whatever happens, which I don't think is the case. We could still sell Rasiak, Saga and John in January, which could be enough to see us through. Revenue from the Utd game should help as well. Personally I am anti-administration and feel we should do all that we can to avoid it. Minus 10 points will almost certainly result in relegation. If we were in league 1, unable to play any players, with all and any promising talent sold off (I'm reasonably certain administrators will sell for a fee substantially lower than Lowe would) and not owning our stadium, times would look bleak for our future.
  15. That will also provide a massive bonus to the clubs coming down from the prem. That extra £8m or so in parachute payments, would represent an additional £4.8m a season that the club would be able to spend on players' wages, as against the standard operating turnover of other CCC clubs. Also what kind of punishments could be inflicted on clubs who go over their 60%? If it was tantamount to a slap on the wrist it would be pointless. But anything stronger would be harsh, if say, your star striker get's injured and you are unable to pay the wages for a replacement. Whilst there would be problems with its implementation, I am not necessarily against this idea. Clubs would still be able to cater for superstar players should they wish to, they would simply have make cuts elsewhere should they wish to. Clubs like Portsmouth paying in excess of 90% of their turnover on wages alone, is simply unsustainable in the long-term and I for one, don't want to see any club go out of existence (even Pompey)
  16. You need to break into the house without anyone seeing you. Stand right next to his front door and go into sneak mode (crouch). Wait until the eye around the main cursor goes dull, at this point you cannot be seen by anyone. Now break into his house and you should have free reign to loot what you want. It can be annoying but you'll need to get used to doing this for a lot of other quests, particularly the thieve's guild line.
  17. Thoronir has a shop called the Copious Coinpurse in the market district of Imperial City. I think it's on a side street. Run everywhere in the market district and you'll find it eventually. If you do this quest, make sure that you grab the mace next to one of the coffins in the burial chamber, it's immensely powerful early on.
  18. I agree doing the knights of the nine early is very useful. The weapons and armour you gain from this quest level with you. If you replace them on the armour stand every time you level up, their attributes will improve and they will also be fully repaired and recharged. Plus the woodland grace skill is useful for not having to fight animals. I built my guy as with heavy armour and a focus on blade, then added some destruction. I usually open up on guys with a few fireballs, then run in to finish them off with the blade. My top tip would be to do the Nocturnal shrine quest as soon as you reach level 10. You get the skeleton key, which means no more messing about with the lockpicking game! I've played this for at least 30 hours and I've hardly touched the main quest. I'm head of the fighter's guild and getting there in the mages guild as well. When you consider I have yet to begin the Shivering Isles yet, this game is massive!
  19. What will losing tmw accomplish, apart from pushing us closer to relegation? Even if we were bottom and adrift at Christmas, what can change about our situation? Is there anyone waiting to take us over? Is there another manager (who would realistically take the job) who could do a substantially better job than Jan, given that they would have no money to spend and would have to play with exactly the same squad? I hate the current situation at Saints, have no love for Lowe and lament some of Jan's crazy team selections at times, but until someone can give me a viable and realistic alternative for the running of the club and the team, I will continue to give the team my full support You will likely get your wish though I can see us get a tonking tmw. Kightley up against Lloyd James at RB?
  20. BWP should be good for a laugh! (admittedly most likely at him, not with him...) Shame I can't make it tnt actually. The Usain Bolt picture should do well.
  21. Ah the annual sports auction! Went to this for years during my time at Mountbatten. Remember it being quite a good craic. Prob worth checking out if you have nowt else on. They do seem to get a very random collection of sports memorabilia, most of it prob won't be anything to do with local sports people.
  22. Just want to add, I have no problem with being searched when entering the ground. If it stops even one idiot from doing something stupid or hurting someone, I'm all for it. I would just prefer it was done with some courtesy and professionalism
  23. The Police presence at Swansea was excessive though. I live in Cardiff so travelled to the game by train. As soon as we left the station the Police presence was very heavy and every single one of them was very, very aggressive towards me and the guys with me. I wasn't even wearing colours. I'm all for Police controlling a crowd, but I was made to feel like a hooligan for no reason at all. This level of oppressive policing only serves to wind people up and antagonise them and in my mind this is not the correct way to police a game.

    PS3 games

For kids Ratchet and Clank is a definite. I agree that you should get Uncharted if you are after an adventure game, yes there's a lot of shooting, but it's hardly an FPS and it is Tomb Raiderish I've not played or even seen any LBP, but the hype alone means I and probably everyone who owns a PS3 should check it out. Personally I'm loving Fallout 3 at the minute. Definitely not one for the kids(!), but a very entertaining and engrossing game
  25. If he stays until January, hopefully that will tide us over until Thomas is fit (if he is ever fit/allowed to play for us/not sold etc) Hopefully this will allow us to play Cork at RB permanently. With Morgan fit, we have him Surman, Gillett and Wotton for CM, plus Euell and Pulis. Cork won't be needed in the middle. What does worry me is this potential scenario: We get a settled back four of Cork, Pearce, Perry, Rudi, and finally look okay at the back. What happens when Cork and Pearce head back to their parent clubs and we're left with no defence again? I'm all for taking players on loan initially to see if they are any good, but the open of extending it for the season would be helpful. All part of the fun and games at SMS at the moment I guess.
