  1. The first derby match v the skates in the league cup was one of the best atmospheres at SMS. The pure hate and the number of years we had not played them helped. I remember it being loud all the way through.
  2. Oh my god, I might have had watery eyes at the end. I still cannot believe it!
  3. We all know deep down that this will be a stroll for Arsenal. Is this not their first game since Man City beat them? They will want to keep the treble alive and I expect them to do this quite easily.
  4. Me I follow the Saints women’s team, and enjoy the women’s game. Again like the men’s game, I have very little interest in the top flight, unless Saints are in it, then you have too. I have no interest in the champions league. I have got more enjoyment out of watching the women’s England team than the mens over the last decade for sure, and there is something refreshing about the way they play and respectfully play. They also seem to want to win for each other, and that shows with results. They were nowhere near their best during the last euros but that togetherness saw them through, that sheer desire to win. Southampton women I have been championing for years now and have followed them online mainly because of my location, but go to the games up north, and went to the playoff final against Wolves at Stockport when they go promoted into the Championship, now the WSL2. The women’s game has come on so much in the last 10 years and there is something women’s international team winning 2 euros is pretty outstanding. I understand it is not for everyone, and I always watch the women’s game with that in mind, it is not the men’s game that has had millions ploughed into it over many decades. I think the women’s game will continue to improve, but we already have the same issue where the bigger teams are taking all the talent pool, which makes it very hard to retain your good players in the WSL2. Unless you are Newcastle, who have the money. At the end of the day it is a personal choice and you do not have have to watch it, but I will say it is a Saints team and I will support any of their teams that come under that umbrella. I do find it funny in the fixtures on the BBC as they never seem to know where to place the woman’s games in the list. 😂
  5. Really hope it is Hull, as I have never been to their ground, has always clashed with a family event! Well let’s try and finish in the top 6th first though!
  6. God we could never beat Everton in the 80s and 90s! Well maybe a bit more by the mid to late 90s. Davies at Goodison, Pahars at The Dell.
  7. He had a strike on him. I remember one shot of his went like a bullet and gradually got higher into the top corner. The power in his shot was fantastic.
  8. Matt v well take your pick.
  9. Big win, not only in the top 6 but drag Hull a bit closer as well. Hull have Wednesday next so 3 points, so we need to make sure we get the 3 points on Saturday as well. Start reeling in the teams 8 points ahead now. Let’s just keep going.
  10. I knew that would happen! 😂
  11. And no one asked? Villa? On this my neighbour is a Villa fan and he was born and grew up in Carlisle, as did his parents. His reason for supporting Villa…. David Platt goal against Belgium 🇧🇪 in 1990! 🤷🏽
  12. People that comment on social media. For example on TIK-TOK when there are a band and someone says ‘terrible band, terrible music’ or any content that people are negative. Not debates like on here, you can have an opinion. But on social media why do they not just move on, swipe on, what do they feel they have to be abusive at times, or have to comment at all?
  13. Hiking in the lakes. Walking up one of the Wainwrights and having my lunch on top of one in the peace and quiet. ⛰️ 🤫
  14. No hope, Arsenal will dispatch us. We still need to be right on our game to make the playoff. Even after the good run we have been on we are still 3 points off 6th and 6 points off 5th. It is relentless. I just get a feeling we have a wobble in us which will spell the end for us. We do not have this luxury, so let’s hope I’m wrong… please! 🙏
  15. It’s a weird league, you see these kind of results all the time. Tonight Charlton winning at Boro! The skates last win was 4 games ago at Millwall 1-3! It really is this league anyone can beat anyone… apart from Sheffield Wednesday.
  16. Don’t believe this, did not think we would win tonight, just experience in being a Saints fan. 10 games undefeated, off the back of winning against a premier league side… next a team in the bottom 3, only one outcome. But still have 45 minutes. They will wobble a bit, so can we take advantage. We will not win on Saturday either. But I still think we will grab the 6th spot as we have a pretty good run in, and many home games.
  17. I know how this senecio players out, I have seen it many times before. 10 games undefeated and the last one being away at a premier league side and the next game is to a struggling side. We will not win. I also do not think we will win on Saturday, but all is not lost as we have a good run in and we will make the playoffs.
  18. Well, I can honestly say I am surprised. Nailed a game plan 100%. Well done SFC!
  19. Same as the national league format. Except only 1 automatically go up!
  20. I would presume they will not put out the first team either, as they are looking to qualify for Europe through the league.
  21. This will be a very good test, but one I feel that will show the difference between us and the premier league teams. I fear our cup run will end here as predicted by many as soon as we come up against a premier league team. Just hope it is tight and they do not take us apart. Just watched their game this afternoon, and they are pretty handy!
  22. I am not a great fan of OWTS song!
  23. Was in the top tier today with the boy. It was my first visit to Hillsbrough since 1997 and a 0-0 draw. Think Paul Jones saved a penalty that day. The ground is looking in a terrible state, neglected like the whole club top to bottom. It was a strange one as the atmosphere was very flat, and the performance matched it. Seemed like we just expected the win, which showed in the celebration the little bit of the 3rd goal as there was more of an eruption due to the worry that was creeping in! We did what we needed to do and had the feeling of an end of season game or a pre season game. I do think we could have upped the tempo a little and in the first half it did remind me of the last time we were in the championship as it was very laboured. There was a lot of very good good football at times but the end product was just not there. We missed Stewart for sure today. None of the subs did anything and had negative impact of the game and our shape. For what the Wednesday fans have been through, those that were in the ground were great at the end of the first half and second half. Let’s face it they have nothing to sing about. Our fans were flat, turned up got the 3 points and went home. Very strange game and I think things will start to get a little tougher, but we still have lots of points to play for, but feel we are a little short of a serious play off side, but we will see.
