  1. Would be nice to have a cup run, but not the most important. I think we will progress to the 4th round. Should then get Palace surely, been a while! 🙄
  2. I would like to point out that we have 2 strikers that banged the goals in for Blackburn and Birmingham at this level. I don’t see this as the problem, more our laboured tappy approach. Don’t get me wrong we are on a great run so the balance of the team is great, but we need to get the killer pass into the strikers who make the runs, every few seconds when attacking, but we opt to go backward or sideways on the whole, and build again. I think another striker and we will be saying the same, we just need to be braver and more direct more often. Maybe it is a playmaker that is needed to see the killer pass?
  3. Sounds like all but a handful of Saints games this season, much more entertaining.
  4. WBA Millwall Hull Preston there are 7 gained. Swings and roundabouts, but the most important thing… we are not losing late on.
  5. No it’s just how we play. 18 unbeaten, one off equalling the club record. Not to shabby at all.
  6. Don’t think they will in the championship and do not think they are anywhere near good enough for the England squad.
  7. I see this as one of a few games that are a banana skin during the rest of the season along with the below sort of games, West Brom, Leeds, Leicester, Birmingham, Blackburn and even Cardiff. On paper some of these are obvious but the others are teams that I see as tricky and traditionally hard away games. Saying this we will probably win all the about and lose at home to Sheffield Wednesday, Millwall and Huddersfield. 2-2 New Year’s Day
  8. Adams movement the whole game was brilliant. In the second half we were level with the line in the Itchen and the amount of runs that are made is truly amazing. Every few seconds one of the line will make a run and then drop back in. Never really noticed it before. Adams off the ball work is brilliant.
  9. Is he going to be the answer to more goals 🤔
  10. The best part of the country is the lakes. ❤️
  11. Let’s be brave up top and roll someone over! Come on Saints! 2-1
  12. So if we are drawing going into injury time we win, if we are winning by 1 going into injury time we draw. There is a mentality thing going on here. Or are the tactics wrong when we are only 1 up? If we killed games off where we should be (not today), like Bristol City, then we would not go into injury time needing a winner of hanging on. I fear that it will be these kind of matches today, Huddersfield and Rotherham where we will miss out on the autos. There is something that is just not clicking into place. But still 12 games without a defeat, what’s our record?
  13. Hmm very odd! This is a little bit 80’s.
  14. To much singing about hating the Skates creeping in. I prefer to support Southampton and the players on the pitch, but each to their own.
  15. With our set of favourable fixtures this should not be the case, as long as we approach them all with the attitude that EVERY game is tough. Also can we please only play out from the back when it is appropriate to do so. I’m all for playing football, but there is a time to get rid.
  16. Saints team and fans seemed to turn up with the mentality of expecting a win. Fans were flat, with a flat celebration for the goal. The team were even more laboured than normal, seemed like they wanted to bore the opposition into defeat. Their goal was coming as they pressured us more and more and we continued to try and play out from the back. Still unsure how their goal went it. Not a great watch that.
  17. Looking forward to this one with the boy. Let’s hope this time it is 3 points.
  18. Yep, us when we last got promotion to the premier league after only getting promotion from league 1 the season before. Also Norwich the season before us did the same.
  19. Leeds have only just started to put a good run together and look good. Only a point ahead of us. I would say they were more settled. We lost 2 very key players during the first few games of the season. Ipswich remind me of us when we came up from league 1. They are very together and have a ‘team’ mentality that are settled and playing for each other. I do keep saying it will never last, but they score plenty, but also ship goals. Very entertaining to watch.
  20. Yes but Leicester did their business and sorting out transfers very early on. We held on to players into the season and held out for the best deals, which of course is great for the money situation, but not for getting a settled team playing to the system the manager wants them to. I still think we play a little too laboured in possession and need to add a bit of zip and directness to our game. I think we are moving in the right direction for sure, but apart from Leeds at home all our wins have been by 1 goal (which does the job) but we should be taking teams apart with our team.
  21. Was the same at Preston and that was only a draw! But you have to live the moment, or you will never celebrate!
  22. As a football club and fans of a football club, you always want to do the best you can. This season so far I want us to go back up, and that is what it is all about, but I do not miss the premier league and I do not miss VAR. I would not mind this for a while, but then I want us to celebrate going up. It’s really strange but natural.
