Who is Micheal Fialka, the propective new owner
SW11_Saint replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
Tony Lynam needs to come out and do some serious explaining. Where is the proof of this guys worth of "hundreds of millions"... surely he and MLT aren't stupid enough to have had the wool pulled over their eyes?? I'm starting to think that perhaps the Swiss bid might be a better option! (without any knowledge of it, of course!). -

Is he British? Foreign? No mention whatsoever on the Times Rich List, so does he really hav the reported "hundreds of millions"??? Let's hope he is the real deal, but at the moment I am reserving judgement at present. Shame it's not Tabor or the Ineos guy, but this is Saints, so disappointments come fast and easy... -
I agree. I can't see Pinnacle would have got this far without this backing, and TL has already stated that the backer has wealth to the tune of "hundreds of millions", so I'm quite happy to find out who he is when Pinnacle are ready.
-
I did too, thought he did alright tonight. To be honest, he knows as much as us, and as a fan is just in limbo currently.

They say nothing, as they have nothing to say. Other than - "it's our league, f*ck you!".

Update from Tony Lynam 1:45pm Monday 22/06/09

FL refuses to change position on the appeal. Looks like the Pinnacel deal is off... (SSN) -
I've always wondered why one of the "big boys" (Deloitte, PwC or someone) wasn't appointed. Might be more expensive, but would have got the job done in much more of a professional manner. As we know better than anyone at SMS - 'you pay peanuts...'
-
Me too - was awake before 7am (on a Saturday!) and even dreamt about the Saints situation!!! Let's hope this gets resolved - to lose Pinnacle, MLT et al now would be heartbreaking. To lose the club altogether doesn't bare thinking about. Anyway, gonna go to the pub later today and watch the Lions (the egg chasing game) and try to forget things for a bit!
-
Agree, you'll probably get other clubs fans willing to sign too.
-
Well said Sid. I have always thought he was a cn_ut and he's proving it now.
-
Cos they have all the power, and Mawhinney is a ****!!
-
Let's hope we get the opportunity to host Lord Mawhinney - or see him at the play-offs - to tell him what we really think of him and his 'make it up as you go along' rules...
-
Yeah, people forget - it really was like us signing Beckham in his pomp; European Footballer of the Year. I remember reading a match previews and them regularly saying "The Southampton Bandwagon comes to town" (wherever we were playing), such was our 'star power'. Incredible days.
-
Cheers Bletch. Not sure it helps my nerves mind!
-
Aah, the Kagools - yes of course. And such a sartorial step-up from the "Sporta" of previous years!
-
Oh yes... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_0GhYfWwPE&NR=1 And you forget how slick the build up was too - but that team was just a well-oiled machine, bursting with talent, such a shame that we never quite clinched a championship, it was definitely within reach.
-
Tell me about it! Me and my best mate had both full Saints kits (the classy red/white, blue/blue - still my favourite 'alternate' kits - perhaps we should bring back if the KK rumour is true!), Patrick trainers and the blue/red 'shiny' track-suit. Always remember thinking it was so cool we had "Rank Xerox" as our sponsor too - right up there with the big boys.
-
I went there too - but I was there for '76, great days!
-
I was walking back from school (secondary) with a mate - as I got to our gate and said goodbye to my mate, my mum came out and said "Have you heard, Saints have signed Kevin Keegan!". Took me a while to believe her, but remember me and my mate just jumping around in the street like, well, delighted schoolboys! Oh happy day. There was nothing like it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Ratcliffe It's odd that he's not on the Times Rich List 2009 at all... yet according to Wikipedia he was 25th richest in the UK last year?? I see someone has edited his Wikipedia profile already and has also put some unfounded rumour about Tisdale on there too. My money's still on Tabor. That said, I don't care who it is as long as they have significant liquid wealth and a long term committment to Saints!

KK on his time at Saints - worth watching..

Isn't Carver the one Shearer is trying to get back from Australia or somewhere for Newcastle? -

Awesome. I remember tumbling down the Milton Rd. after it went in - such a shame it was disallowed, and only marginally off-side (if indeed it was). The other clip on YouTube of the "Greatest Goal ever" (v Liverpool - 15+ pass move) brought back such memories too. Dare we dream...? -
Me neither. Not my idea of a great Chairman or CEO, but at least he admitted his mistakes and put his money where his mouth was to bail Saints out when they needed it. Happy for him to be involved in some capacity. On a similar note, I wonder if McMenemy will get anything under the new regime? Club President maybe, or perhaps just his picture back up in the boardroom!
-
I'd be happy with either. It does bode well for the Pinnacle era - both show a bit of ambition, something that has been in such short supply in recent years.
-
So Keegan is to blame for all of Newcastle's ills? I don't think so. Trying to move that club forward with their headless board, not to mention ridiculous expectations, is more than a job for anyone, as Shearer is finding out.
