  1. Actually, that's not a bad paragraph. Jaidi has an eye injury, I believe, and Thomas and Perry can't keep up with the amount of games, at their respective ages, and remain competitive, hence the reinforcements, who need match experience within the team. Barnard is indeed a Lambert clone, at least I hope so, as he will need to play INSTEAD of Ricky occasionally, and not alongside him. It would actually be simpler if MK Dons went to Wembley, and Pompey beat us next weekend, so we could concentrate on the league. But do you actually want that..?
  2. I think what St Tel49 is saying is that Saints are not the finished article. Which is undoubtedly true, and it does take time to get it right. We've come from a long way back, and are trying to succeed in 3 competitions. But it is frustrating that improvements have been 2 steps forward and 1 step back, and occasionally the whole 2 steps. It is also frustrating that the new players that had to be brought in during January, are invariably cup tied, and so cannot gain team experience during those less important [than league] matches.
  3. Yes, I would like us to start fast and positive too. I remember it was no less than Bill Shankly who said, "Start fast, and you can always slow down. Start slow and you'll never speed up". That's not 100% true nowadays, but it is much harder to raise the tempo once a team is set into a slow one.
  4. All over Youtube. Just go and look.
  5. I think it's about time I reminded members that threads unrelated to Saints don't go in the main forum. Apologies for not moving it sooner.
  6. I occasionally ask if one of any supermarket cashiers might find a little room in their hearts to question my age, when purchasing alcohol. But sadly, I do look old enough.
  7. It's actually only 7 or 8 months, since the turnaround. Had a conversation with a GITR colleague this morning, where I displayed my first real disappointment in Saints [Exeter result] since the takeover. He, quite rightly, hauled me over the coals slightly, because it really has only been a short time since this club we've all been following, was nearly no more. Certainly not in the way we would like to support it. And yet just a few months later, and we are so much better off, it's almost a dream. But I notice the word is finally getting out into the general football media and supporters arena. We're on our way back.
  8. Far too sensible and reasonably worded post. What members want here are generalised one line, black or white, statements that involve the words, crap and wink [mispelled], and which whitewash an entire procedure when staff are probably trying their level bestto fulfill the demand.
  9. I'll have a word in the right quarter. Or the left, whichever you prefer.
  10. Indeed. In the end, we were lucky. Wishing extinction on another club, despite it being the closest rival, is not on.

Yeah, I knew that, but how else was I to put it..?
  12. But what if the Skates were wound up this wednesday, and were not able to play Saints this weekend..? Would you enjoy having a bye..? I would, for the novelty value.
  13. Obviously you didn't get involved in the thread around November-December time. Fighting is an emotive word. Surviving and playing in the Championship, then. And yes, this could all be said in the proper forum for Portsmouth FC talk.
  14. I certainly wouldn't disagree. Hopefully, you saw that I was describing how modern biographers work their subject matter. It tends to blemish the hero or heroine. For all his faults, I think Nelson was as much of the classic hero as it is possible to be. Every tribute and monument to him is justified, IMO.
  15. [Cough] So was The Dell's pitch. It's not just lower league pitches that are often cambered to the outer edges.
  16. Already had a few threads on this theme. The main consensus of opinion is that we want them to be relegated, go into administration, but come back fighting in the Championship. We even had a poll on it.
  17. ..and he didn't have help from great players around him.
  18. To Kill A Mockingbird is currently on ITV1. Where is Atticus Finch of Maycomb, now his time has come..? I've seen it many times before and can almost run it through in my mind. Excellent film, for those that haven't seen it.
  19. The Who are the HT act in the Super Bowl, and they are so under rehearsed it's painful. Daltrey can barely hit the high notes, and Townsend can't occompany him in voice, and can barely play the right notes in time. I'd rather see La Toya's boobs.
  20. Just shows that you're the most intelligent male in your family.

Used to watch Grid Iron a lot back in the 1980's, [i've even got a mint 1987 Super Bowl XXI official programme]. But I so wish they'd just get on with the f****** game..! I'm certainly not sticking around for 3 hours. Little bit of Motorsport trivia. The BBC coverage is chaired by F1's Jake Humphries, and MotoGP's Matt Roberts is in the USA.
  22. Plenty of females have sung in a lower register. Honestly, I don't know the song, or the band, and so I had no preconceptions or expectations. Good song though. I'll look out for them.
  23. Blimey..! I shall have to go back to that video and listen again.

They say players and managers are temporary, but clubs and fans are permanent. Well, let me tell you. Nothing is permanent. Individual fans come and go as well. So, just because we grew up with red & white stripes means little over 125 years, even if stripes were the strip for most of that time. We played in dark blue shorts and socks for a fair time too. I suppose I'd like to see a change for one season. Perhaps we could have the sash. Perhaps we could have the quarters. Perhaps we could have a completely new strip for the next 100-125 years. Besides, very many clubs play in red & white stripes, and I think a change might make us distinct. Honestly, I don't mind whatever strip Saints play in next season, as long as it makes the Lads look a billion pounds. Which means NO HOOPS in the socks.
