Tbf, some quote League only and some quote all competitions, but I agree, they do occasionally get it wrong.

Obviously a slower news day than the Express thought it would be. This is a such a non-story. While working today, I've been semi-entertained by the antics of Talksport who are arguing over the plusses and minuses of newspapers feeding the public with various scandals, notably the John Terry/Wayne Bridge story. Of course, they conveniently forget that they are also feeding the public, and keeping the subject alive, well past the point of interest, while suggesting that newsapapers are just after sales. It's a bit like the pot calling the kettle black.

Normally, that is perfect reasoning, as a draw between rivals means 1 point is lost forever. However, if teams immediately above, are playing other teams who are out of sight, or are so low in the division as to be no immediate threat, then a loss to the immediate rival is the result to hope for. In a sense, Walsall 1-1 Charlton was the 2nd best result [a win for Walsall would have been the worst]; and Orient blasting Bristol Rovers 5-0 was also the 2nd best result, as they are both immediate rivals, and a draw would have been best. However, Rovers are now very much out of form, which makes a space for a team to fill, if they continue that way. Plus, Orient are only a point above Saints, and have played one game more. After tonight's fixtures, Saints lie in 12th spot. We're still in the mix, with an outside chance of making the playoffs. But we must convert every point possible.

When does a relegated side officially leave the division?
St Landrew replied to Torrent Of Abuse's topic in General Sports
Well that's one thing I didn't know, i.e. the points penalty in the Premiership being only 9. Sorry I can't answer your question. -
2nd week being a local pundit. Barnard is crap as a Saints striker too, eh..?

Come back Saga, all is forgiven..!

Ah..! I was never a fan of Rising Damp, and so didn't know that one. I assume the cat's name was Vienna, then. Bit cryptic for here, don't you think..?

Liebherr Crane Spotting - Earliest sighting ?
St Landrew replied to Kingsland Red's topic in The Saints
But it's not our Liebherr, KR. He isn't part of the family firm. He's the owner of Mali Group. http://www.mali-group.com/index.php?/en If you drive a modern diesel, you probably have some of his technology in the engine. -
OK peeps, perhaps you can stop turning this thread into a let's pick on Alpine Saint again session. He lives in mainland Europe, and therefore doesn't get to see Saints. But he can read between the lines, and listen to any radio and watch any TV links that might be going. He's not completely uninformed. What I would suggest to you Alpine is that you don't start off threads with such a provocative premise, because sometimes [only sometimes] you invite the brik-bats you receive.

Should Saints sign Papa Waigo & Antonio?
St Landrew replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
I'd sign both in the summer, if possible. They've proved their worth. From the players perspective, I think Antonio would sign, but Papa might wish to return to Italy. Having discovered that he can't speak English, I believe that could be the barrier to his staying. Which would be a shame, because not only is he a good player, but he's a character as well. As a person, AP speaks very highly of him too. -
Well, how did Lee Holmes get his chance..? By showing excellent form in training sessions and matches. In the absence of competition, they have to simulate these things in training and practice matches, and obviously Connolly is not showing up sufficiently well at the moment. I'm sure he'll be back though, especially as we need quality personnel for the Cup matches. But I would have thought you would realise this, hence my comment. The flippant comments have been, and are noted.

Saints V Stockport County - Post Match Reaction
St Landrew replied to St Landrew's topic in The Saints
Just in case nobody has linked it, here are slightly extended highlights: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/8490249.stm Sorry Overseas Saints fans, UK only. -
That's 20% of anything over £650,000. Read your own link.

Which means we can treat this rubbish with the respect that it deserves, then.

Don't wonder amongst yourselves. Ask the Daily Record where they got their fanciful tosh: reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk text: 84080 - make sure you start the message with DRNEWS or phone:0141 309 3251

OK, I'm going to stick my neck out here, hamster, and suggest you're mixing up Vienna with Venice. Am I right..?
-
I read somewhere that this will almost certainly be the English, of the majority of its speakers, in the future. I think I'm starting to feel old, and out of step..! BTW, isn't it easier to just say bathroom..?

Journey Into Space - The Red Planet.

I saw that. Apparently true. Frankly, I never saw evidence of him being good enough for the Premiership. Now Dexter, was another kettle of fish.
-
This is one of those... where the hell did they invent that piece of rubbish..? type articles, that only spring out of the newspaper industry. AP's future is no more or less certain than anyone elses. Which of course, means that The Daily Record can print that crap and get away with it. EDIT: What we should all do is e-mail them to print a retraction or publish their reason behind their statement.
-
This is true, but then we were in the Premiership, somewhere around 4th or 6th in the table, and WGS was a laugh every time he opened his mouth to comment about his yoghurt's sell-by date.
-
Same here. Remember that Ch4 have their own player section called 4OD http://www.channel4.com/programmes/4od It should be on there. At least, I'm hoping so.

Dimbleby. The iPlayer is going to take such a hammering over the coming week.
-
No. Wotton covers for him, but he's obviously not as good. If he was, Hammond and he would be rotated. As I mentioned in another thread, we slightly struggle without Hammond, but you can't have a player, the quality of Hammond, playing in the reserves, or sat on the bench, waiting for Hammond to be injured or rested.
-
Oh bollix..! Sorry. I'm always doing that with your handle.
