Yeah, that's fair. I think, until you actually scored, we were the most likely to actually do it. And if we had scored first, I believe the score might have been our usual 3-1 or at least a win. I think most League One sides would have buckled and been beaten out of sight by our performance today. Probably most Championship would have had a real tough time too. The future is so Red & White I can almost taste it.

A little compassion goes a long way. Well done Offix. I hope Pompey do survive, but in my post-match disappointment, just not very healthily.

TT, I think you're being incredibly harsh. Pardew has addressed the problem of letting in late goals. He has bought additional quality defenders and players across the squad, almost none of which could play today. As it happens, for most of the match, I thought 36 year old Chris Perry played a blinder, and Jaidi won everything in the air. What they lack is pace, which Pompey eventually exploited. But the simple fact was Pompey are a Premiership team, and today they were playing on a Premiership quality pitch. Not some bobbly field which levels the teams. Pompey may not be good enough for the long run in their league, but give them an inch and they'll turn it on at the level we're currently at. There's nothing wrong with being disappointed, but I certainly wouldn't be angry.

Yeah, read an article earlier today where the Premier League has advised Pompey to opt for administration, because they won't/can't advance them parachute money. Now, I understand that, since being served with a winding up order, this is not possible, but could be if they pay their outstanding taxes. On the game, I thought we pressurised them, and definitely wanted the result more than them. If we had taken more of our numerous [almost half-a-dozen missed] chances, it would certainly be have been a different result. Once Pompey nudged themselves ahead for a second time, I wondered if we couldn't peg them back again, but the Lads almost did. Premiership class inevitably showed itself, and Pompey's pace and skill eventually surfaced, but only after Saints heads drooped slightly. As a scoreline, 1-4 doesn't reflect the closeness of the game, but it does reflect the quality. Besides, AP gambled greatly by taking off a defender for Holmes. There were no halfway measures with AP, and I admire his bravery. I thought every Saints player could pat himself on the back, and although I'm disappointed with the result, I'm proud of every one of them. If I were to pick out key players, I would have to say David James' performance was crucial, and O'Hara played in some key moments for Pompey. For Saints, it might seem churlish to pick out a player, but I'll pick out Lambert, who was at times unplayable. He was immense for us, and won practically everything he was involved in. The first time he didn't take a free-kick, but got on the end of one, he scored. Every other Saints player was a close second. This was a game I didn't want us to have, and said so when people were asked for their opinions. I wonder how many people who said Pompey at home, would now like to change their option..? Next time, perhaps have some imagination, eh..? This game came too soon for us in our development, and I hope it doesn't have an affect on the club morale, unless it is to make it stronger. Don't be too down, fans. I appreciate there are always some effing and blinding individuals, but as a crowd you were brilliant. The future is red & white.

Whilst I wouldn't even begin to slide down a ice channel like that, I did learn to sledge quite well as a kid, and had a proper sledge, although practices were few and far between. Whilst all the kids would sit on their sledges, and slowly fall off, I would lie on my stomach and chest, head first, and hardly ever came to grief, even though I used to try to find the steepest slopes I could. I would run to the tip of the slope and throw myself down onto the sledge to get maximum speed. I even used to wax and polish the runners. I would use my feet as rudders and brakes. I did once leave the ground and fell about 15ft to the next slope and promptly put my teeth through my bottom lip. That bloody well hurt, but sledging was great fun.

That's pretty good. Be a good crowd chant too.

Hawksby and Jacobs - Kevin the Saints fan
St Landrew replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
Yes, I heard the Predict The Score slot today. I thought Kevin gave a very good account of himself, although when he predicted Aberdeen vs Celtic, I think he said 2-1 to Celtic, which illicited a bloody cheek from the Scotsman presenter, who's name I can't remember. Mark Dennis was entertaining. Watch last Monday's Late Kick Off to hear Jonathan Pearce declare Saints will beat Pimply. Good for him. -
Apparently, the Whistler, as the track is called is at least 15 mph faster than all than all other tracks. It was only opened in 2008, so is a new one, which answers the question of how the dangers of this particular track have only just come into the widespread public domain. Some athletes reckon it's too fast. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympic_games/vancouver_2010/luge/8513595.stm

Well here's a development in the right direction: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/8511319.stm It's actually rather dynamic of the UK to put this in place. I suspect that it is all hot air [sorry] and that nothing will come of it, but you never know. Maybe we'll all be driving around in Honda Clarities and their successors in years to come.

Yeah, that would be Oldknow. I suppose the best we can say about him is that he was still indoctinated from his days as an employee under the previous board. Like the man said, would you charge Shankly or Robson..? Of course not. I thought Lawrie was right on the money, with his comments, right upto the stadium sharing. But of course, he proposed that idea way before St Marys was even dreamed of. Back then it may have been possible, even desirable. But certainly not now.

The Dan Mangan stuff has kind of inspired me to listen to Laurie Anderson - Mr Heartbreak. In its own way it is just as intense and emotional.

Got there eventually. It's not the easiest listening. But it is worthwhile. There is music I can listen to in short bursts, and music I can take lots of. This falls into the first category. The anger and sorrow, the love and tragedy is very intense, and I don't think I could take an album of it, straight off. Does that make sense..?

Blimey..! Really never heard of it..? I think you'll find plenty of it on Youtube. It's actually 2 EPs combined into an album: First one is 25 O'clock 1. 25 O'clock 2. Bike Ride To The Moon 3. My Love Explodes 4. What In The World 5. Your Gold Dress 6. The Mole From The Ministry Second one is Psonic Psunspot 1. Vanishing Girl 2. Have You Seen Jackie..? 3. Little Lighthouse 4. You're A Good Man 5. Collideascope 6. You're My Drug 7. Shiny Cage 8. Brainiac's Daughter 9. The Affiliated 10 Pale & Precious Have fun finding them. At the moment I'm listening to Peter Gabriel - 2
