Not surprised really. His interview, post-match sounded like a man who didn't really know what to do next. That's maybe OK to be like that in September, with a grin on the face, after a couple of bad games, but Laws was being utterly honest.

I've had quite a few beers, and a bit of red wine. And yes, you spelt Tranmere correctly.

I believe you're right. It understand the snow in 1962-63 lasted until about March. It was the most snow in Southampton since 1954, which was definitely before my time, but older family members tell me that lot lasted even longer - April-ish. I definitely have piccies of that year's snow on this PC. Excuse the clothing of the kids as remember it was only 9 years after the war, and it was still relatively hard times. The photos were done by my old departed Dad: EDIT: Oops, forgot to include the photo with the green in front of the house where I ran into the deep snow about 12 or so years later:

Saw his earlier today and wasn't going to post it at all. But we're all posting video links, ATM. So then I thought I would post this in the General Sport section. But I've no real interest in football that's not Saints related, so you'd better start watching this video about 7 minutes and 35 seconds in: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/football_focus/8409567.stm Fellow mods, move it to General Sports if you think it isn't worth keeping it here just for 30 seconds of references to you-know-who.

That's exactly where I went to find Bush's ****-ups: Nice one benjii.

What..? Are you trying to say, fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.., eh..?
-
BTW, you left out the penalty. Now that was hit with power.
-
No I haven't because the former title of Free Lick will always remain in our memories.
-
Well I corrected it for you anyway.
-
Good video. Controlled power from Ricky. Reminds me a certain other number 7.

Maybe he's the shy type, and you'll end up embarrassing him..? Joking, of course. It might well be a good idea to have Him and Cortese do a little stroll around, just to say Hello.

Saints 3-0 Tranmere Rovers: Post Match Reaction

I think you're being overly critical. Yes, this is League One. But this isn't September anymore. Sometimes you have to win ugly. Sometimes you have to win when you're not playing well. In order to win championships or promotions, you have to be able to do those things, and be able to string the passes around. You have to be able to do this, and adapt when the opposition and conditions demand it. Some teams can only play one pretty way, or ugly way, and when they don't play to their most effective, they are in complete turmoil. Burley's team was always trying to play pretty football, and that's why it ended as very average, because his team couldn't grind a result out or out-boss the opposition. This team can, albeit at a lower level, where pretty football is played less. When they need to, they'll string the passes together; but to criticise a team that has won almost every game it has played since the 4-1 Gillingham game, is being a trifle picky, IMO. -
What, if they'd quickly gone downhill, instead of disbanding, you mean..? Wings did make the odd memorable standard, but they honestly don't compare.

The Peter Green era was excellent in moments. The Rumours era was poppy and of wider appeal. But seriously, if you can't think of a finer band, then you're obviously not trying very hard.

Some of us are working while we are on here. -
But no doubt, you'll be entirely happy to be wrong AGAIN, TDD. I think we might get a result, something like a score draw. I feel Tuesday night might be critical for the confidence factor. Obviously, a win on saturday would be dreamland. And what a message it would send to the rest of League One. The fact that we can contemplate it as a possibility is a measure of how far this team have come.

I was aged 4 at the time, and I honestly can't remember it, although the family photos prove there was deep snow everywhere, and it carried on for weeks, well into March, I believe. The first deep snow I remember is from the mid-60's, don't know exactly which year, but we were living in Millbrook at the time, when it was actually much nicer to be there. Out front was a huge green bigger than a couple of football pitches [built over now], and it was covered in virgin snow well over a foot deep. I completely remember running down the path and deliberately jumping into the snow so that I was face up looking at the stars. I could see my imprint in the snow ABOVE me. That was deep snow. Of course, being Southampton, it lasted a mere few days and then was gone.

Southampton/Portsmouth,city of culture joint bid!

Portsmouth. Southampton. I wonder how much head scratching local planners did to come up with that one..? -
You keep trotting out the same old argument StG, but you people in the USA consume far more resources per capita than any other nation. What you do [and yes, us in the UK too] is unsustainable. If you have children, you have a responsibility to consume less. It just so happens that you'll probably lower your carbon footprint in the process. Don't wait for technology to come to the rescue, because we're already in debt to our children. Don't be so sceptical that you have to be apologetic later.

Can't wait to see that Lambert free-kick. -
I actually believe Bart is a perfectly capable keeper, possibly better than KD. He just doesn't have the experience of KD. Games will make Bart better and better, expecially behind a winning team.

We have family photos of the winter of 1963 as being pretty white. I'll see if I can find one or two.

Don't want to look down but we are now 5 points away from danger. A very nice 3 points better than last week. Here's hoping it's an even nicer 8 points, this time, next week. -

Pardew: We can go [to Leeds] there with our hair down and our best frock on. Nice one.
