  1. Since getting in late, I've been listening to quite a bit of stuff. But as soon as I found my Peter Gabriel collection looking a little lonely I had to start with PG1 and Moribund the Burgermeister. That led to PG2 and PG3. Never got around to owning PG4, for some odd reason, so it's straight onto So. Must go to bed though. Important day tomorrow.
  2. We have a winner..! It's unfortunate that much could be made of it. He's possibly an exellent bloke, but we'll never find out.
  3. I believe Harriet Harmon has shown over the years that the truth to her is something that can be bent to her own convenience. If any established persuasion, I consider myself Liberal/Democrat/Labour, but HH is one of many politicians that I don't consider having leadership potential from that arena. Nope. Think again mate. We're talking image over content here.
  4. I think Microsoft do it themselves as a free download. BTW, in future, just PM someone you know, or a Mod/Admin, and they'll start the thread for you. In fact, if you don't get any joy, you can PM me. OK..?
  5. I think we all noticed that it was obvious RL hadn't signed any confidentiality clause when he was turfed out. What's good for the goose...
  6. And we probably know why too.
  7. I wouldn't mind Preston NE getting to the Premiership. They've been trying so bloody hard for years, and just missing out, that I couldn't deny them their day in the sun. I like triers and underdogs. But then I don't care that much either. Burnley also.
  8. That's fine with me, as I don't want Harriet Harman as the Prime Minister either.
  9. Granted.
  10. And maybe a little more too wouldn't go amiss. Look up the suitable weight ranges for your height, and I think you'll find 11 stone would be more appropriate. But don't be disheartened, I'm 6ft and 14 stone. I should be about 12½ stone or thereabouts.
  11. I'm not sure I'd go as far as that, but he was a nice ordinary bloke, who seemed to be constantly aware that the job he was doing couldn't be bettered, for a committed Saints fan.
  12. I'd be interested in seeing a demographic of the potential fanbase of SFC. IMO, it must be huge. There are obviously many factors that would dent that potential, League One football being a biggun; and the population is rather spread out over the central southern area, so distance also becomes a major factor, for the less committed fan. In the Premiership days, St Mary's was able to be filled practically every home match, and often tickets were as hard to come by as in the 15,251 Dell days, for the supporter who could/would only occasionally attend. Those supporters are out there still. They are just doing something else with their Saturdays.
  13. You can't turn football support on like a switch. Just as it took time for Saints support to dwindle down, it'll take a long time for them to return. Which means that YES, we can still look to the Lowe factor, and say that it helped to reduce support. I notice that attendances were up immediately after he left, in any case, and by quite a few thousand. Now you can point to the novelty value of him not being around, or some other cause, like it being the end of the season, if you like. But I'd bet Lowe, not being part of the Board, was a contributing factor in the recovering attendance figures.
  14. A bloke called Malcolm Taylor. He'd been around Southampton Football Club for a long time, first as a steward, then he accepted the job of kit-man. He's called Woggy because of his thick curly hair when he was young, and it resembled the hair on the golliwog of the Robinson's jam jar. Very un-PC nowadays, but it was an earlier time. You can see him in Saints full squad photos in books like In That Number, and also there was a pretty fine interview with him on Javi Igeno's Dream Fans DVD.
  15. I think that's the crux of it. Not that I've ever bothered to watch another club closely, but I'm pretty sure the fans of Norwich City have never been fed years of bullsh!t like Saints supporters have. They've also never had a figurehead who divided the fanbase, and actually depressed the attendance figures. At SFC, that has been the case for 4-5 seasons, and some fans have gone away to do something else with their lives. It'll take a long time for those people to come back - and Saints need them. What we don't need is more bullsh!t. Well done Norwich City.
  16. How tall are you..?
  17. Tragic circumstances, and my heart goes out to the little boy. I have certainly heard of people running away from an accident situation before, and it wasn't because they were scum, or high on some substance. It was because for a split-second they could not handle the situation, and were caught with an overwhelming urge to run away from it. Sometimes, this fight [stay] or flight [run] mechanism just kicks in, and before the person knows it, they are doing something they would not normally do. I agree, that this driver is possibly all the things posters have mentioned before. But it might also be a very frightened person, who is thoroughly ashamed of the situation she finds herself in. It may mean that she will think it through and give herself up, or she may be too frightened of the consequences. We'll probably never know.
  18. And on that theme, car drivers, who have never been bikers, who get all wound up when a bike passes them during a traffic jam or other obstruction. They don't realise that a bike rider has far more visibility than they have stuck in their little metal box. What's more, the bike rider, if he/she has any sense, will have used that extra visibility and weighed up the situation before performing the maneuver. So, car drivers, when you see us doing these overtaking maneuvers, we aren't necessarily being stupid or dangerous. I'm not gong to sit in your traffic jam if I can help it. And don't try to fill the road up with your car either.
  19. Well, there is The American Way, for people who never quite mastered the skill of eating with a knife and fork.
  20. No he's not. He's just very depressed about the club he loves. Surely you can see that..? I can see the potential for a buyer though, and perhaps Oz will see it too given time. Having said that, there is a very real possiblility that all the interest will come to nothing. We must be prepared for it, although I believe Saints will not be allowed to die. For one thing, there's too much money involved to allow the debts to die with the club, so everyone wll be motivated to get a deal done.
  21. Type nokipopu.dll into Google to find out. And for many of these errors it's always worth checking out Google for an answer. It can often point you in the right direction or indeed give you the answer. As it happens, I tried typing this into Google, and for the first time in ages, it crapped out. But when I put the full Windows path into Google I got this result back, among others. http://www.dll-doctor.com/landing/dll5/repair-fix-dll.php?key=windows%20system32&sc=g&cp=s&kw=19722&gclid=CIGtsaXMoJoCFQJN5Qodo3H49A Now I'm not suggesting you go and buy some registry cleaner, but you may be able to find a free one somewhere, or a free trial. It's always worth giving Google a go, even if you just get a pointer rather than the solution. By the way, if you find out what nokipopu.dll [Nokia software..?] is, then think back to what you've recently uninstalled, badly installed, deleted, etc.. you may find another way to your answer. You may find that re-installing and uninstalling your errant software will solve your problem.
  22. I've been letting the rumour about MLT being on a new Saints Board roll around in my head for the last couple of hours. And every time I think of the prospect I begin to smile. It's possibly the first positive feeling I've had about this club in the last 3 or 4 seasons. It would probably be the single best decison ever made by a new owner to bring Matty in.
  23. Dire Straits - Dire Straits The band's original album was something of a revelation because it was so different in the pop world at the time; and when Communique came out, I thought we'd got a superbly jazzy/folky/pop 4 piece group. But they went all mainstream, and by the time of Brothers In Arms I couldn't listen to anything they produced any longer. But this one is very good indeed. Stand outs for me are Water Of Love, Six Blade Knife, In The Gallery, Wild West End and Lions.
  24. Ah, gotcha..! [] I'm in complete agreement there, Norway. I was just pointing out that I read in some journal on modern English that the phrase Me and Whoever or Whoever and Me is now not frowned upon.
  25. No you may not. The Candy Brothers look good and enterprising. Perhaps under their ownership, Saints matches would be like taking candy from.. No. I'm not allowing that either.
