    Leon Crouch

Since Leon Crouch came out of the shadows as a major contributor to the club, he has had a very hit or miss time in the public eye. He's made right decisions, he's made wrong ones. But he's always been there, putting his hand in his pocket when he can make the significant difference. He turned the shambles of the first Ted Bates statue affair into a triumph, and he didn't make a song and dance about it. He just quietly came up with the cash, and solved the problem. Then he waved away the plaudits. I think, even he realises he's not at his best in front of the camera or microphone, and it has certainly helped to prejudice people's opinions about him; mine included. But he has always been there, and his heart has always been in the right place. And how many people of the last few years, in positions of power within SFC, can you say that about..? And people who really know him will say he is the genuine article. So thank you, Leon. Once again you've stepped up and made a difference. Let's hope it is truly significant, like it never has been before.
  2. Shall I say it or you..?
  3. You must be desperate.
  4. Semi interesting bit of NZ/Car trivia: Insurance is still NOT compulsory, just highly recommended.
  5. Often wondered what would happen if an experienced butcher tried to do an operation. Well, it appears they can do surprisingly well. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8050883.stm
  6. Detached, I take it.

    MOTs

Well you people will buy these vehicles. I don't deny you the right to do so, but you can hardly whinge when it comes round to service time.

    MOTs

Jeez, I can't believe how you people throw away money. If you can't do the non-engine bits yourself, at least go and source some tyres from a supplier and get them fitted by them. Getting everything sourced by the servicing garage will truly rip you off. Think before you act.
  9. Don't know whether anyone has mentioned this angle, but of course, all the parties, and their individual caught MPs are saying that they'll pay back what they owe. Cameron is even going as far as to say that anyone who doesn't pay back their expenses will be sacked. This is all very well, and I believe the public are supposed to be impressed. But if a burglar was caught with your belongings, and offered to bring every last item back, and place them exactly where they were stolen from, would you think better of them..? And thereby hangs the outstanding problem. The MPs are suddenly showing their honesty and humility because they've been caught; in this case, bending an already over generous set of rules to breaking point. They are no better than burglars. I would like to see a published list of all those remaining MPs that I can completely trust. I wouldn't expect it to be long. I honestly think I will be voting none of the above this time around.
  10. As referred to by Arizona: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8048112.stm
  11. A tracking cookie is just another form of cookie. In itself it is harmless, but some of them can bring trouble. My advice is to get rid of any, if flagged up by AVG, as you won't miss them.

  13. Hopefully you wouldn't be behind your wheel as you laughed your way to the grave. Yes, I'd like to see Hull City survive too. Peaking with one season is too cruel, and they've been a refreshing change to the same old same-old. Besides, Newcastle could do with a bit of relegation to wake them up.
  14. One sits at the PC pondering what amazing structures have been built or taken down in recent years. Then I find out that high resolution pictures weren't available a few years back in the area it took me forever to think of. Shouldn't moan really though. Google Earth is still a fascinating program. The Dell looks great. The absence of St Marys, the Incinerator, and a couple of other minor things are quite interesting too. Presumably, the London Eye and Gherkin will also disappear.
  15. Not hugely interesting to me, except that, if the bid is successful, some of games [the pool category] will be played at Southampton and Coventry. I can only assume that means St Marys and the Ricoh Arena. Games, played in the final stages of the tournament, will use Anfield and The Emirates.
  16. Indeed, anyone not able to do it should look up their versions in Help on the Menu bar. It's Google V5.X only, not V4.X. Upgrade to V.5 free.
  17. I'm with Alpine on this one, if only that the sooner the truths and half-truths are out, the sooner we can put all the rumour to bed and get back to supporting a united football club, rather than one hell bent upon destruction, as Saints have been for the last 5 seasons. Yes, I want to move on like the rest, but there's too much rancor still floating around. New owners of the club do not need this baggage that still exists. Let's get it out into the open, dealt with, and put behind us.
  18. Good riddance. If there's one thing I can't stand it's a kid jumping up an down on the spot until it gets its own way. F1 HAS to economise. The seasons gone before were getting absolutely bloody ridiculous on the spending front. It's a sport, for chrissakes, not life or death. At least the FIA won't have one team to bend the rules over. Of course, the FIA will backpeddle immediately.
  19. There's a lot of this about.
  20. How about if I put... surely the most boring Grand Prix of all..! ?
  21. Blind faith shall be tested in the next F1 race - Monaco. Surely the most boring of all Grand Prix.
  22. I've been outside pretty much all of today erecting a fence, coming back inside for the odd glimpse and coffee, so I missed the pile up. I'm fully prepared to blame Fernando, when I watch the highlights later, if you'd like me to, matey. Understand he did quite well, and did I see him chase down Massa in the latter stages, during another quick glance..?
  23. You've been keeping that one quiet until now...
  24. Perhaps they should go to Jerez for the Spanish F1GP.
  25. What's going on peeps..? Not having Ferrari at the top boring you..? I think it's excellent having no hopers Brawn getting Pole and 3rd, with Vettel as the sandwich filling. Certainly has made this F1 season worth watching. Best one it has been in years, so far. I guess people find it difficult to talk about Button after saying what a crap driver he is, for the last... what 7-8 seasons..? No doubt it's all to do with having the fastest car. But you do need a half decent driver to make it go fast - as Jenson, and Reubens of course, are doing. Just love it when underdogs have their day. Oh sorry... this is the Spanish Grand Prix thread. Here's how all the qualifying sessions ended, with fuel adjustments. Tsk tsk, nothing simple in F1. 1 Vettel - lap 16 2 Button +0.059 seconds - lap 14 3 Massa +0.151 - lap 17 4 Barrichello +0.172 - lap 15 5 Webber +0.389 - lap 16 6 Trulli +0.454 - lap 16 7 Glock +0.762 - lap 14 8 Alonso +0.959 - lap 13 9 Rosberg +1.321 - lap 23 10 Kubica +1.728 - lap 19 Thanks Beeb.
