Not at all. Saints appear to be giving as good as they get. 10 minutes to go. Oh dear, did I just raise the tension level..?

I never screw and tell. -
There you go. It isn't over until it's over. That'll teach posters from potentially going over the top. Saints need to keep playing the way they are, because it had kept Reading at bay very nicely up until then. There's absolutely no reason why Saints cannot shut them out for the remainder of the match, by taking the game to Reading.
-
Hi All. Just popped back for 5 minutes. Do I believe my eyes..? From what I've seen this season, the kids can only play one way, so perhaps it's dangerous to suggest they close the game down, at this point. So if they could hear me, I'd probably be saying.. keep playing the way you are.

Let's leave it for the weekend, eh..? Monday for the Poll, don't you think..? -
Hello Hello Hello..? Straight from MotoGP, then Rallying, Rossi is now wringing the neck of a 2008 Ferrari. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/7742565.stm

Boringly, I go to the toilet just before going to sleep. However, when I lived in Kent, and still married, my best mate and his girlfriend popped up from Southampton for a weekend visit. We gave them our bed, as the spare was a little iffy at the time. After an evening of carousing, we all went off to bed. In the middle of the night I stumbled, still p!ssed as a fart, to the toilet. In the morning I woke up to find myself entwined in the cuddle of my mate's girlfriend. I'd just climbed into my own bed. Now I know you won't believe this, but I honestly thought she was my wife, and she thought I was my mate. We were still fairly inebriated and err... exploring..! I still don't know how we got away with it, undiscovered. -
Very well done mate. I thought we'd lost this footage for a moment.

That's all very well for arithmetic, but I remember my schooldays when algebra and quadratic equations started off in the Maths class. Admittedly, I had a few lessons off due to ill health, and I never really got a fundamental understanding afterwards. Consequently, any interest in the subject tailed off and died. Many years later, just before entering university, I managed to obtain a GCSE A grade in Maths. But algebra is still largely a closed book to me.

Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best LB.

So when I come to count up the nominations and build the thread for Saints Greatest [footballing] LB, do you honestly think I should include Francis Benali..? -
Yes, absolute nonsense. Presumably, if the scenario of walking the dog was removed from the advert, these same councillors would have been complaining of unaccompanied kids being shown to be conversing with a stranger. It's pathetic clap-trap.
-
Same here. I start to read about the child's injuries and can't finish it. Simply horrific. I'm ready to forgive most things, but these people positively leap over [let alone step] where a draw a line. What kind of twisted minds can take pleasure in the torturing of a completely vulnerable baby..?

Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best LB.

You're not alone KB. Although I started this particular thread off, the topic itself is not mine, it being Darren LeTiss's. He asked for the LB position to be nominated for first, so who am I to argue..? Normally I would have asked for RB nominations first. Perhaps we'll correct the faux pas once we get to the midfield. How about that..? EDIT: Just looked up through the thread, and there appears to be some misunderstanding. We're looking for the BEST LB as a footballer, not the most popular, or one with the greatest legendary status. It might be a good idea to remember that. -
I've been trying to find the b/w video on Youtube/Google Video of Man U V Saints match at OT from the 1960's where SFC ran out 4-1 winners and Ron scored a hat-trick, but it seems to have disappeared. Anybody know what has become of it..? It has a partner video from The Big Match, the next day, where Ron is being interviewed by Jimmy Hill. They talk about his 3 goals, and what all this new 4-4-2 formation is about.

Saints haven't been blessed with many outstanding LBs, over the years. Wayne Bridge is an obvious good suggestion, and Mark Dennis is another. But I think I'll go for David Peach. -
You may get your chance sooner than you think..!
-
Put you suggestions here. Nominees need not be specialist LBs, just the best performers in that position. Note: The position of goalkeeper is not a problem, but outfield players have to suit a formation. Modern day formations can be almost anything they want to be, and some of the older formations like 2-3-5 just wouldn't be recognised by the majority of today's fans. So let's just stick with 4-4-2, which is the formation Saints adopted as early as 1967 for Away matches.
-
I take it you'd like me to start the next thread then..? Btw, the goalkeeper poll runs until late tomorrow afternoon.

Had a look on Youtube. Not found anything so far, but did find this priceless old gem. Wait until the end: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=MUheHr8GNP0

I love the way football supporters flap around like little fish when they read things they hate. Read the last sentence but one again.

Received yesterday from Albuquerque, New Mexico: Hi Andy, Thank you very much for all your efforts in the Give It To Ron promotion. I'm so glad you never went to **Rio. I just can't believe the response from the Southampton fans after all these years. They are just great. I loved the [fans] letters you sent me, [they] made great reading. Once again, thanks a million. Wishing you all the very best always. Sincerely Ron Davies. Just thought all the people who have shown an interest would like to know that Ron has finally received all your photos, letters and good wishes that came with the donations. I finally sent everything to him about 3 weeks ago, and there were so many good wishes and longer efforts, that the person behind the counter at the Post Office raised an eyebrow at the weight, when I said it was just personal letters. Then when I mentioned that Mr R.T. Davies was Ron, he asked.. who the Saints footballer..? People don't forget. **Tired joke I come out with, at the drop of a hat, about disappearing with the fan's donations. Look out for new announcements on the Give It To Ron website in the future.

Don't kid yourself. I can see the circumstances quite easily, where Southampton and Portsmouth become Solent City in the future, and then the football clubs amalgamation [if they still exist] could be just be a matter of time. The countryside has practically been breached between the two cities. All it would take, is the current rate of urban sprawl continuing, and the circumstances being right. Plus, the political will to do the merge. It's all possible. Just not likely, from the perspective of 2008. But give it enough time.

The Williams looks OK, as it sort of harks back to an earlier era. One needs a sickbag handy, just in case, when looking at the Beemer. The lack of aerodynamic sticky out bits and pieces makes for a smoother look though. I wait patiently for the no tail and nose wings look. Now that would be something else.

I said on here only a couple of weeks ago that I'd found out from a pretty reliabale source that both Surman and Lallana were to be moved on, come January. I've no doubt it'll happen. And before you think on the Lallana front, oh well, no loss, how about..? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-WraR8sCuTI
