As BTF says: trough. Err... yes I would actually. I've always thoroughly opposed the idea of the Premier League, and I didn't like the idea of SKY money when it was first mooted. I knew the biggest and most glamourous clubs would get bigger at the expense of ones that, for reasons largely other than football, would get left behind. But I didn't imagine it would get this big and business like. Tbh, I consider the Premiership to be an unmittigated disaster for real football. And that doesn't mean I want my club to have no part of it either. Just that I prefer the Premiership, Championship, League One and Two to be the First, Second, Third and Fourth Divisions, as they were before, and running rather satisfactorily back then too. BTW, I don't have SKY, never have, never will. And although one should never say never. This is an easy never to say.

Tbh, I think all the little Asimo variants are. Did you see the walking Asimo run..? Now that takes real coordination and the abilty to go off balance in a controlled way. After all, humans walk by successively putting a foot out to stop themselves from falling, and running is a huge extension from that. Pity he walked into the door and fell over though. I was just thinking whilst I was writing the post above, if two legged walking, as opposed to four legged walking [cats, dogs, etc...], was an indicator of brain power. And an extension of that might be one legged standing, because naturally four legged walking animals can't stay on two legs for very long either, and man can stand on one of his legs for quite some time. All was well, and then I thought of the flamingo. The idea kind of went to pieces after that.

Hmm, might give it a go this Sunday then.

Ah.. I see. then you obviously haven't heard about Bloke's TV, as it is being called, on BBC2. There's a little 3 hour slot of: 8pm Top Gear 9pm Charley Boorman: By Any Means 10pm James May's Big Ideas If you include Bruce Parry's Amazon series, later on, [people apparently aren't] that quite a bit of Bloke's TV.
-
It won't be about Robots. Watch that on iPlayer. Here's your link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00dxdwl/ aint I good to ya..? Every week is a different idea which affects the world. The first one was about personal aircraft, as in jetpacks and aerocars, but sadly no autogyros, which I would have thought was the real deal. Now there's a thread subject. Why did James May leave out Autogyros from his personal aircraft programme..? Was it because they work and are feasible transport..?

True, but as DSM points out, they'ed be on the menu, not bringing it to the table. Keep missing Bruce Parry. Too many progs gone by now for me to get interested.

Has anyone here actually kicked a mischief making male Mallard duck whilst it was taking off..? It's like kicking an unresisting eiderdown. No satisfaction at all..!
-
That reads like you never get to watch TV on Sundays. Is there some sort of curfew..? Have a look on BBC's iPlayer. You'll see James visiting Japan [mainly], USA, GB [[southampton University [in Sunny Southampton] as it happens]], and Germany, in his quest for a realistic robot. There's one in Japan modelled on the scientist who built it. The skin textures and mannerisms of the robot were rather spookily realistic, according to our Mr May.

If you coud raise any animal from birth...

I wouldn't have the energy or dedication to raise an animal. I can raise a smile though. Will that do..? -
I take it you didn't see James May's Big Ideas last Sunday then..?

A decent thread subject. -
Have you not heard of the phrase.. in season..? I once lived in a part of Kent [Rainham] where there was a small duck pond. There were male Mallard ducks actually drowning the females after they'ed mated with them only hours earlier. So we went on a little vigil to save the female ducks, by keeping a daylight watch on them. We even ran and kicked and prodded the males if they decided to attack the females. All to no avail. The females would close up to the males, get their oats, and eventually, despite our efforts, their comeuppance. In the end there were no females left, and the males flew away to hoodwink some more. There's no accounting for nature.

Why is it, only the Japanese would do this an not have a single issue with it..?

The Genie is out of the bottle, professional football wise. It's difficult to see how, but it's about time the Beautiful Game went back to its roots, and relied on the stadium supporter, rather than mega-rich owners. Yes, I'm saying that knowing it might improve matters for SFC if that sort of thing happened. But it would also be beneficial to football in the long term too. Less, as the saying goes, is More. And in the context of money in football, it might be appropriate too.

A long time back, I remember family and friends gathering round the table for a Ouija board evening. We used to do it quite often, and the fad lasted for several weeks. They were a gullible lot back then, and when nothing particular was happening, I thought I'd spice up the proceedings. What always made me chuckle, was that Parker Bros, in the States, brought out their own Ouija Board, as if it was a board game like Monopoly. Just shows the level of seriousness some people attributed to it.
-
And he did. Not sure a thread about the use and validity of Ouija boards is something I'd consider ripe for Lounge talk, but each to their own.
-
Yes but will I see you..?

What do YOU want people to do with your body after you die?

With a bit of luck, I'll be food for fishes in the Mediterranean. -
Kaka means something else in Italian slang.

Don't need to go back. I experienced the 60's, 70's and 80's. They all had their good points and bad. Just different ones. It's all about personal fulfillment and getting along with others, in the end, and you can do that just as well now as then. All you have to do is make of point of trying. Must admit, I'd give wartime Southampton a go though, just to see how people coped, and how they pulled together, rather than thought just for themselves. We could all do with some of that spirit at times. Btw MB, today you panicked yourself into a reasonable thread subject, almost worthy of the Lounge.

Thanks Saint Charlie, nice find. What a tonic Matty is. Love the line... let me take you to the home of football..! Which is exactly how I view it. Every other club is subservient to Southampton FC. However successful any other club is, they only exist to make up the numbers. It's only Saints that matter.

Had a rather busy, yet quiet weekend, which I wasn't at all unhappy about. Seeing some friends and relatives going off on respective holidays the day before was a slight downer, but surprisingly nothing I couldn't cope with. Usually I'm green with envy if I haven't got anything lined up myself, but not this time. tbh, Saints losing was the biggest disappointment, and I got over that reasonably quickly. Must be some sort of indicator. So 6/10.
-
Absolutely not. Just didn't see it, as I'm not on here all the time. There are no special privilages. Thanks for the nudge, Saint Stevo.

Buy and Sell may be a little more appropriate.

All good points, especially the Wilde panicking one. MW will want to change tack sooner or later, if SFC continues to falter. Lowe will see Saints through, either to the sweet or bitter end. In some ways they are a relative dream ticket [but one without any money, so no change there], and in other ways they are the nightmare scenario. The ones unfairly caught in the middle of all this, are the squad and JP.
