  1. Several of us have made the point about the first 10 games losing us our chance of promotion this season. Some of us have put this down to a lack of pre-season, and having to quickly turn the morale of the squad around, while others have said that's complete rubbish. I think the stats are with us.
  2. Nope, we're a few points behind where we should be. Blame Tranmere and Wycombe. Well actually, blame our team's ability to underestimate less capable teams, but you know what I mean. Remember Brighton at SMS..?

  4. Tbh hamster, I thought it was common knowledge that non-whites are far more likely to be stopped and searched by police.
  5. bentley [sadly, you have to be old enough to know the connection].
  6. In hindsight, I think it can be explained. Prior to the January window, Saints were starting to do extremely well, after starting off the season incredibly slowly, and from 10 points further back. They eventually hauled themselves into a position where they could push on. But just as they were about to set themselves into the position they are in now, they lost a little bit of form, either due to injuries, the teams they played against, having an off-day, and various other reasons. Then, in the January window, Saints acquired some more class players, but they only started to play together at the end of January, and because Saints were in 2 cup competitions, league games were being pushed out of the way, which meant the new players were getting very few chances to play and gel with each other. It wasn't really until some time through February, that the team we see now properly emerged. In a sense, being in 2 cup competitions has set Saints back, but it has also given us some great moments. We'll never prove that doing very well in the JPT competition will cost Saints promotion, but it might well have been a contributing factor. The question is... would I change things..? That's the tough one.
  7. I see the confusion has been sorted, but just to be ultra pedantic, I would swap a JPT Final win for winning all our remaining games, whether they are League games or not. Because the others are playoff games..! Give me a guarantee of winning them all, and I'll be ecstatic.

  13. Yep, Beckford is absolutely brilliant. I'm selfish for Saints.

  15. Was just getting down to the end of the thread to type vacuum hose, when I saw these explanations. Almost certainly this. Funny, I cut one on Friday to insert a T-piece for my Scottoiler. Just like buses.
  16. I always thought the local authority was testing them for Civil Defence purposes. Makes sense, after all.

  19. Star Trek - The Final Frontier OK, let's have a go. For the one ST film adventure that William Shatner directed, I think it was a mistake to make it so light-hearted and jokey. The story is pretty promising, but turns out to be quite dull. The god that they all come to witness, turns out to be false, and is far too easily overcome. It's a shame, because the premise is good. This could have been played as one of the darker adventures, but I understand the studio wanted something light, like the previous film. Anyone who watched TOS, will realise there was a liberal sprinkling of the light and the dark episodes. Unfortunately, this one takes the light hearted side too far. Apparently, Shatner got himself quite fit for this one, and he certainly looks less portly, and throws himself about well. DeForest Kelley looks so frail that a breath of wind might blow him over. Yet he was to do another film before finishing with the series. The rest just go through the motions. Steer clear, unless you're keen.
  20. Saw the first one last week, but missed the second one. Yeah, it is pretty good, but don't think that it will teach you huge amounts. There's a fair amount of oohs and aahs, and actually, it's slimmer on the science, than I thought it might be. Incidentally, the presenter is Prof Brian Cox, ex-keyboards with D:Ream. They'll be getting Brian May to present something next, no doubt.
  21. Already watched it Bexy. These are repeat viewings after all, so I sort of know what I'm letting myself in for, even if it has been quite a few years since I last watched them. I'm trying to summon up the enthusiasm to write about No.5.
  22. ...are up on the BBC website. Don't really know why they couldn't have shown at least this much on the Football League show, but they didn't and so here they are now: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/8547627.stm Apologies if posted earlier, and to overseas fans.
  23. I can see that happening. Ferguson is a fully paid up Scotsman**, and it would delight him no more than to see England's chances impaired. **except for actually getting his hands dirty by managing the national team.
  24. Yep, torn achilles tendon. Not only is he out of the World Cup, that could be the end of his career, at his age. Some people don't come back from that one. Feel sorry for the bloke, in a way.
