  1. That's a long way to go for an evening away match but it was good to see a comfortable win and 5 goals, 4 of which were nicely taken. Surprised no Do Prado - he may be injured and no sign of Hooiveld either. V disappointed in Mayuka, I have to say. Until his goal he just did not get into the game Isgrove only came to life in the 2nd H when he went wide left. Ramirez so much skill and composure but so frustrating. His free kicks last night were shocking. Oakwell was just how I imagined it, corrugated fences, red bricked walls and old fashioned corner steel floodlights that looked like they had been in situ since Michael Parkinson was a nipper.
  2. I still think there will be one more in. Apparently a mystery player had a medical the Thursday before Osvaldo signed and it was very hush hush. Listening to Pochettino's comments last week about watching the market I think this transfer is dependant on another club buying someone before letting our target go
  3. This big time - he needs to wise up very quickly - no room for petulance in the Prem.
  4. Buttner is being loaned out I see
  5. there is an element of sense in what he says to be fair
  6. I think a lot of people are forgetting that we are privately owned now - the only people who should be (potentially) worrying in the Liebherr estate. There is no stock market or shareholders to answer to. We have become a mini Chelsea.
  7. we still lack pace
  8. Minty I thought exactly the same thing
  9. Just in case this post was missed - can't wait to find out? Was it that bloke who went mental in the cemetery ?
  10. I missed the announcement that Micah Hall had taken over from Guy the soldier
  11. The answer to your question is simple - "it's because he plays for Southampton".
  12. Spain now I believe
  13. All will be revealed in November http://www.hagiologists.com/forth.htm
  14. He let it slip between his fingers
  15. The standard of comments is improving I see - he's a good local lad, with a solid family behind him who are Saints fans. Doubt they would relish a stupid comment like yours. He was sold against his wishes to bale us out when we were staring administration in the face. He is a footballer with intelligence and I think Bournemouth have got a nugget here. Hughton is not a purist hence this move.
  16. That made I larf
  17. Missed that 1st time around - hysterical, I wonder how many bought it?
  18. Yea but as I have already pointed out, then it took Blackburn millions to win the League but now you have to be bankrolled by a country
  19. In those days you could buy the League with millions, now its billions
  20. "I took a gamble moving to Southampton and it definitely was not a mistake. It was a fact finding mission, and I learned more about life and football in two years there than I did in six at Liverpool - notably that clubs like Southampton cannot be champions of England. They couldn't then, even though we had a good go at it, and they certainly couldn't now. It's not even an issue" So spoke Kevin Keegan in his 1997 autobiography , is it a sad indictment of English football that in reality a side other than the top 4/5 (the two Manchester clubs, Chelsea, Arsenal and perhaps Liverpool) are the only ones considered as potential champions? Or could a club like Southampton with the right financial backing ever threaten as we did back in the early 80s.
  21. You been on the red meat Nick or the sauce perhaps? I think Alpine can safely regard your post as a mild put down.
  22. I use this forum for two main reasons - letting off steam after a defeat, finding solace in my fellow fans' frustrations and finding out our aspirations in the transfer market (am grateful for all those who include links I would not otherwise find). I do find the bickering and point scoring tiresome though.
  23. There is another 34 pages to go before any real news filters through
