Marlene Davies (Ron's sister) has contacted me and asked that her thanks be passed on to all Saints fans. Here is her message. Timothy is Tijuana Tim who did so much for Ron in the States and James was the instigator of the successful "Give It To Ron" appeal. Dear Duncan, We hope you are keeping well. We have delayed writing as we were hoping to have more news for you regarding Ron's ashes etc. but, as yet,we have not heard from Nicola, Ron's daughter. We have written to Timothy and James and would like to take this opportunity to thank you and all the supporters of Southampton Football Club for the help and support you gave to Ron during a difficult period of his life. Reading the many tributes was a very sad but heartwarming experience. We know how much he loved and appreciated the Southampton fans, and was very grateful for all the help he received. Thank you once again and may we wish you and the club a very successful season. Yours sincerely, Marlene Savage (Davies)

Good lad and we were pleased to get him when we did but the club "outgrew him". Horrible as that sounds it is modern football. I followed him on Twitter and he seems a A1 bloke so thanks and good luck to him. Salt of the earth.

Cork can fill in at full back too and we are short of cover in these positions.

I might have asked this before ESB but what was Chris Dodson's second crime?

I do remember Tim working in Squires on a Saturday - a real trendy with his blond flowing locks and a digital watch which I bought off him

Not sure your last sentence is something I should be proud of ?

S-Clarke - you usually post sense but I would like to hear your views if it was 20 years from now. The OP has made a very eloquent statement, one which I agree with. This new kit sums everything up for me, the club are clueless when it comes to tradition. It was me who suggested the sash to Andy Oldknow and despite his faults he knew that that was a wise choice - since he left marketing decisions have been a farce. Best I say no more.

For those who are interested in our history, I am sad to report that Saints oldest living player Charlie Purves has just passed away in Southampton aged 92. He played 36 games for us between 1951 and 1954, having joined from Charlton. That makes Stan Clements who has just turned 90 the oldest Saints player while just behind him is Bill Ellerington who is 90 tomorrow.

Bill Ellerington coming up 90 years old. Spoke to him this week.

Absolutely horrendous, even worse than last years and that was awful. Whoever came up with this garbage should be shot

Still missing some big hitters contributions

Was in Petersfield yesterday and called in to John Westwood's book shop. He has lost a shed load of weight it must be all the worry.

The reason we went from navy blue shorts to black was that the blue dye faded badly and so the change was for practical reasons. Personally I would like to go back to navy shorts but only if there are stripes above.

He sounds like an absolute fruit and nut case - no thanks wouldn't take him on a free.

Constructive dismissal exercise I would say - AP is going to have to walk and now he has a cause -
Anyone else not exactly thrilled by Lovren?

Let's give him a chance, MP knows what he is doing. The guy is young, has pedigree, speaks English and has 17 caps with a premier international side. He may have lost his way a little last season which means he will be keen to reassert himself. -

Just been informed it has been put back again - I sometimes wonder if it is worth the effort. The family were really looking forward to hearing the programme today. -
