Paul Lyham?

The difference between Painey and most other players was that he had something between his ears and he knew how to use it. He also never got caught!

Channon was "dropped" deliberately to qualify for the Combination final. -
My "falling out" was over something I posted on here. You see the trouble I get into trying to enlighten my fellow postees

My Mum was in the director's box for the match at the invitation of George Reader - it was against West Ham I recall. -
Not so sure I believe this story but if it is true then don't forget Leon can shout and scream as much as he likes but he will not have any real say in big decisions which I guess will be made by whoever the mysterious owner is Whether you like him or hate him he is at least a fan and last year he proved his fan credentials by going to all but 3 matches home and away. I have had my own "run in" with him but I know as far as Saints are concerned his heart is in the right place. I am also, fairly convinced that MLT will be Chairman of the football club and will assume some sort of Do|F responsibilities.

The days of managers staying at clubs like Southampton for 6 years are long gone. If he was successful he would be be cherry picked by a Prem club, if he was unsuccessful he would be sacked by the new owner anxious he was not getting a decent return on his investment.
-
Todays People claim that "Southampton are watching the situation" at Newcastle wher eit seems Shearer is becoming frustrated by not reaching an agreement with Ashley.
-
Yea but are you the original Original Bournemouth Saint? (See Weston Saint's post - that should settle your nerves)
-
Accepted by me.

Thanks Trousers - now back to your pornography

Don't often agree with you but I do on this.

Quite correct. The Guardian recently carried a big piece on Premiership debt which is now over £3b with the top 4 responsible for two thirds. The trouble is, well run clubs - in an effort to keep apace with the "idiot" clubs who throw money they haven't got around like confetti - are forced to spend more than they can afford to compete on a level playing field. The whole thing is a spiraling merry-go-round and sooner or later the bubble will burst. In a way, Lowe was right about pushing out the boat too far but he knew he had no option but to in order to stay in the Premiership. Without a sugardaddy Saints were never going to survive. Even when you bring young talent through the academy one of the glutonous "idiot" clubs will throw a load of money at you and before you can say "Theo Walcott" he'll be gone.

Maybe Ron, but I do think you should at least acknowledge your words weren't very well chosen. You should either spill some beans to stop the idle gossip or let people have their say about MJ based on what they see and read (interview and Echo). That is the whole purpose of this Forum after all.
-
I think it abvout time Ron responded actually - having made what I think to be a pretty "out of order post" the least he could do is apologise. The fact this thread is getting bumped proves others think the same. Sorry Ron, you can't have things both ways.
-
Just watched that interview again (3 times in all) and it gets more excruciating with every view. How on earth can anyone take him seriously? I think this thread should now be closed it is too embarrassing.
-
Making mischief they call it Wade!
-
No who would, but they have to acknowledge they are partly the reason we are there.
-
Could do a lot worse imo - he's a top bloke, intelligent and most important has an excellent relationship with our soon to be Chairman/DoF.
-
I'd like to help you out here GM but like you I am concerned as well - unless the income from these two players leaving was all part of the "deal".
-
Bit unfair Ron, telling people who aren't "in the loop" to shut up! You may think the criticism of MJ unfair but he brings a lot of it on his own back either by his conduct in that ludicrous and excruciating news interview or by the piece in last night's Echo. I too was holding my counsel on the man until I found out more but when he is plastered all over my evening paper insinuating that Fry is a liar I feel moved to pass comment. I repeat I would not want that man anywhere near my football club and nothing would change my mind. Sorry.

As a confirmed and perennial "Lowe is evil" poster, I must (much to my chagrin) have to concur with you, benjii.
-
Phil, I really respect you as a poster and your heart in deffo in the right place but you are flogging a dead horse with your support for MJ. I am sure he is a nice bloke and well-intentioned etc etc etc but having spoken to him on the phone a few times I would not want him anywhere near my football club no matter how badly stricken we were. He simply lacks the ability to "deliver" imo and his presence has not only artificially raised the price Pinnacle and others have had to pay (thereby less funds for the team) but also prolonged the agony. He is a good old fashioned bull****ter who has been caught out on more than one occasion and sucked a few in along the way. And now he is all over the Echo with his "I'm in regular contact with Matt" crap. He and the Echo make good partners. Let's move on. Hey I'd happily buy him a pint - he is a Saints fan after all but no more nonsense, please. Cheers Duncan

If I was going to have to rely on a safety net I wouldn't want it to be held by Marc Jackson, Phil, sorry! At least I would know what I was facing without a net and would take extra precautions.
