Sam Gallagher - Joins Blackburn: Official
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Sergei Gotsmanov's topic in The Saints
They signed Maynard on loan a few weeks ago which means Sam has been on the bench recently but he has scored one for England U20s v Holland last week and came on yesterday v Turkey and helped turn a 1-0 deficit to a 2-1 victory. -
Someone needs to look up the definition of centurion
-
No I agree with you questions re the size of a Mars bar etc etc are futile and embarrassing - you come up with some good points. One rumour I would like confirmed or denied is that Lowe had foundations put in at SMS when it was built that would enable an extra tier if needed. I have never seen the club comment on this but it would be nice to know one way or another.
-
I have no problem with the way the club is being run these days - hardly a foot out of place but I guess it would be nice to know things like "is there any chance of adding to the capacity one day or is that just pie in the sky"? On a personal level I would like to see the club devote some space in SMS for some sort of museum but I have already floated that to RK so the ball is in his court.

And Platini should follow, how on earth did the FA still manage to back him replacing Blatter last week? The guy is as bent as a nine bob note.

Well done on a sensible appraisal of JWP who is slowly growing on me, but one thing on the grammar (sorry pedant alert). You say "Saints fans" with no apostrophes which is fine but then you say "Saints's triumph". I long ago stopped the comma bit because Saints fans or Saints triumph are like simple nouns being described. Does that make sense? Probably not!

Wanyama and the St.Marys crowd ...boo or cheer ?
Fitzhugh Fella replied to manina-pub's topic in The Saints
Yep sums it up for me -
Yep my thoughts were the same - a scramble for Klopp could well happen over the next few days

What five (off-field) changes would you make if you were the billionaire owner of SFC. Here is mine 1. Get rid of the horrendous Blue Peter club badge and replace it with the traditional City coat of arms. 2. Revert to our traditional navy blue shorts which we had until 1948 but we went to black because the navy blue cotton faded in those days. 3. I would (being very parochial now) ensure there was a museum incorporated into the stadium that was open to fans on match days. The club owns no memorabilia because previous regimes couldn't care less. There's lots out there and the fans need to have access. 4. Build some sort of train station outside the Kingsland incorporating the old tracks that went to the Docks. Expensive I know but how good would it be for al out of town fans to be able to catch a train to 50 yards of the station? 5. Buy PFC and turn it into our feeder club or alternatively close it down forever. Yea I know but seriously if you suddenly found yourself in charge at SMS what 5 things would you introduce to make this club better.

Tadic is a talented player but wastes a lot of that talent with carelessness which is incredibly frustrating
-
Well at least Cork never spat a dummy and refused to play (a decision that might have cost us our Europe place). I know who I would rather have next to me in a trench.
-
I was talking to a current player recently who said Ramirez is the most skilful player at the club. Tadic v Ramirez? Give me the latter any day
-
Maya can defend but he can't pass - either forward or backwards. And I wont even start on the great imposter Tadic - a waste of space if I ever saw one.
-
This twice
-
Then best you don't post ....but I do agree some players are getting written off too early. Thought Martina did OK actually but we played with 10 men today as Tadic (out of position did not help) was invisible.
-
Most of our better football was played in the first half of last season - we went off the boil (with the odd exception) around the time Cork left. For the money we got for him losing him was Koeman's first mistake. Just because we offered him a contract doesn't mean it was an acceptable one. My understanding from talking to people close to him was that Swansea made him a better offer which shows we weren't really bothered about losing him.
-
Yea but were you privy to the details in the contract? Perhaps it was a poor one and that is why he didn't sign it. In my opinion we haven't played well since he left - he is certainly a better player than Ward-Prowse or Steve Davis.

Is "The Southampton Way" of playing obsolete?
Fitzhugh Fella replied to dubai_phil's topic in The Saints
It would help if we had players who could shoot from outside the area as clinically as the likes of Leicester players and West Ham forwards have done over the last few days! We operate a hit and hope policy when it comes to shooting! -
Nigel Adkins Interview (Saints YouTube channel, Monday)
Fitzhugh Fella replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
NA was brilliant for us, right man right time. But maybe he had taken us as far as he could although he was never given a proper chance to prove otherwise. His one fault was his awful post match interviews which were full of clichés and Americanisms. Decent man, decent manager who's record with us withstands the most stringent of scrutiny. Looking forward to the interview and well done the media dept for putting this together. -
I think after a couple of outstanding seasons we are going to have to get used to some drab performances this year and I think RK will be very happy with mid-table mediocrity. Some of his team selections this year have left me scratching my head and I think he has gone into his shell. I still haven't got over his bizarre team he picked in Denmark and allowing Wanyama back into the team ahead of Romeu who gave his all in Denmark and v Norwich does not send out the right vibes.

Eddie Howe

One of my favourite players, that first season he was tremendous for us until Irwin crocked him and he was never quite the same but nevertheless as SOG says Strachan made a big mistake letting him go.

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
There is no need to belittle his post though Alpine, at least his response is civil, the pair of you are just very different. Football and watching SFC is very emotive, last Thursday I hated Saints in the aftermath of our defeat and needed to let off steam, this forum is the ideal place.
