  4. Ha ha, that's very apt
  5. Yes, very much. Go get her! And bring Gaston back once he's had his trim...
  6. Also to counter all the lazy "journalism" just reiterating half-baked truth of the week from Pompey, doesn't anyone in here know a journo that could put together something a little more coherent on the issue, asking the more difficult questions? I'm not saying a biased nutjob article (even though that would ROCK ) but a more balanced overview giving rise to those glaringly obvious questions that noone seems to ask. And before PES arrives telling us that we are being bad rivals by running to the press, could I just say that: 1. Since there's been so much sh*t spouted to the press to deliberately portray the PFC situation in a particular way by omitting central details and uncritically putting other details at center stage, it would only be just that someone tried to balance the picture a bit more. You've even got a useful idiot planted in the local press that gets invited on the preseason tours to join in on the fun and go back home to push whatever communicative strategy the local geniuses have thought up that day. And we're not allowed to call him out on his bullsh*t? 2. Elitist as it may sound, I'm not even sure you qualify for a rivalry in your present state. Not because of your sporting situation - we've been there and can hold our heads high - but because your club is immoral to the extreme (see above posting). You simply have to get your sh*t together and start acting in a more proper manner and then it's possible to once again see you as serious rivals and not just a hopeless social project gone wrong...
  7. When considering the relation between ethics and law, there is a disctinction between what you are allowed to do and what you ought to do - and even though there is an overlap, these two things do not always go hand in hand: The reason I bring it up is that we keep on bringing ethical considerations into our views of PFC by constantly referring to charities and businesses being cheated and PFC gaining an unfair sporting advantage over rival clubs in League One. However, I think this criticism will fall on deaf ears as it is by now quite apparent that PFC is no longer constrained by any ethical boundaries, they are only - reluctantly - following the law (finding and exploiting every loophole along the way but most probably unable to do anything directly illegal with this much focus on the club). At every possible intersection have they chosen the way that leads to immediate gain for themselves in spite of whether this choice is ethical or not. Their uninhibited and almost suicidal ambition to compete at the top level at any cost is destructive to everyone connected to the club. A lot of people (businesses, players, clubs, charities etc.) have had dealings with PFC where they have been treated badly, but the club never stops or pauses for a moment to consider if this approach is right, defendable or at the very least just sustainable. And the fans seem to adopt this mindset (or they cause it in the first place). Let's use parachute payments to fund a promotion campaign, let's ship out young players to be able to trigger rules that will allow us to bring in more experienced players that we can't afford. Legal, unfortunately yes, but ethical, hell no! The point is, that it is very clear that PES and other like-minded Pompey fans reading this thread really don't understand why we keep on talking about charities, doing the right thing, restoring dignity, playing fair, cutting cloth, using youth players etc. To them, once the CVA is in place, all the creditors are part of the past. They racked up huge debts, but now it's solved and they have a clean slate. Now it's time to see if there are ressources to build a promotion team even if the solution is to beg all the shafted businesses for more money - just because Pompey neeeeds it! So legally you may soon have a clean slate, but morally you will not ever have that distinction before a phoenix club arises. And we'll be here to remind you again and again. (read a very light introduction to the relation between ethics and law here - with some good, simple examples: http://youensconsulting.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/EthicalLegal1.png)
  8. Yup. It's here: http://www.portsmouth.gov.uk/media/coun20120809r5.pdf 4.6 It is the advice of the S151Officer that the City Council should only consider providing financial loan support to the PST if there is no other commercial alternative to bringing the Club out of Administration. Otherwise the City Council would be competing with others in commercial football activities and putting public funds at risk as opposed to being “the lender of last resort”. Accordingly, the recommendations in this report have been drafted to that effect. 4.7 It is not clear whether a deal will be concluded with Portpin to bring the Club out of Administration under their continued ownership and neither do we know whether the proposed PST bid would be considered to be more favourable to the creditors of the Club than the Portpin bid. 4.8 The situation at this stage therefore remains uncertain. However if a deal is concluded with Portpin then there would clearly be no need for any financial 7 loan support from the City Council. If a deal is not concluded with Portpin and the PST bid is acceptable to the Administrators, then the current PST bid is reliant on the City Council providing a loan for £1.45m. As a consequence, and given the nature of such transactions, in order for the PST to continue with their bid, they need to seek an approval from the City Council to provide loan support so that their bid can be considered.
  9. Impressive! Thanks for the update
  10. I'm not even joking when confessing after 80 pages that I don't really know Gaston Ramírez as a footballer. But that shouldn't disqualify me from this thread, right?
  11. Don't put your knife in his back. Eventually, we will fork out the millions - there's simply too much at steak here!
  12. You are my favourite left nut!
  13. It's been explained thousands of times on here, but would someone take pity on me and once again explain Chinny's debt? Did he ever put money into the club or did he inherit Gadaymak's debt?
  14. Isn't Francis Benali our South American ambassador anyway? He's probably fluent in 5 or 6 South American languages...

  16. Double post...
  17. Pompey fan showed me this; Good morning guys, I´m a Watford fan (obviously), admin of our forums, but thought I´d pop over and give you a heads up on LB. Basically, you do not want this man anywhere near your club, when he bought us over there was investigations into who he was, but no one could find anything, because as we found out, within a year earlier he´d changed his name from Laurence Bazini to LaWrence BaSSini and declared himself bankrupt after a string of 10+ failed businesses and his dad refusing to help him out. See here: http://bit.ly/O4nEEQ During the tenure, the start wasn´t bad but difficult to judge, players left to bring money in and then a few players came in, not for very much but it seemed he was willing at least, as it turns out, he borrowed money against the sale of Danny Graham and wasn´t exactly forthright with the repayments, a £1.8M HMRC bill was unpaid at his departure along with every other creditor bill unpaid as the cheque bounced, because he froze the bank account. At Watford we regularly used to do events called ´at your place´ where the Chairman, manager, and a few players would go to a local pub and do a fans forum type thing, every single one Bassini called in sick about 30 minutes before, so we never actually got to speak to this man. Graham Taylor criticised him for this the first time, and he threw his toys out the pram and threatened all sorts, telling any media source who´d listen like a true spoilt brat. When Bassini bought us over, he claimed this, this and this was going to be done, he bought our pub back from land developers and re-opened it (turns out, did this with the money he borrowed, and still owns it as a condition of sale), and he "started" work on one of our corners, which still looks as it did before he came in. He also "bought a PA system and a screen", again with the money he borrowed. It´s also worth noting, that the first thing noticed when LB took over was he bought a high spec Bentley as a club car, probably not the wisest choice for someone previously bankrupt that needed to just consolidate us. Anyway, when the Pozzo family became interested in buying the club is when the **** hit the fan, Bassini demanded ridiculous sums of money (£15M) for something he paid £440K for. Bassini went to Sky Sports and BBC and told them the deal was off because ´they didn´t have the money´ (nice way to try and put your potential buyers off), but then the local newspaper was claiming the deal was still on despite those claims, due to information from board members that HAD to be kept on from the previous regime as a condition of Bassini´s buying of WFC. I should probably mention at this point, that Lord Ashcroft owned the club before, and he still is owed £8M in bond repayments from it as he took that restructure out to help the clubs finances, and because of this essentially still had a stronghold over the club, part of his sale had the condition that the board had to include some of his members. When Bassini did this, Ashcroft seemingly forced through the sale from under Bassini at what the Pozzo/Ashcroft agreed. When this happened LB went berserk, he stormed into the club demanding entry to our safe, and when the clubs financial official denied him entry (club policy, you need signatories for access like most organisations), he fired her on the spot and had her escorted from the premises, whilst quoted in the local rag "It´s my safe, my safe!" spoken like a true child. See here: http://bit.ly/TWtieZ Our press officer was sacked for posting on the official website that the sale was still going through, not collapsed like LB had stated, and then instantly re-hired by said board members. The height of all this was when Sky Sports reported about this all and the sale going through on SSN, Bassini immediately threatened legal action and then tried to sue, that didn´t last long, for reference. He at one point also claimed he didn´t want to own WFC anymore so he could spend more time with his daughter, quite what he expects Portsmouth do I don´t know, let alone how he´s going to account for all that extra commuting time. I know Portsmouth FC aren´t in a great place at the moment, and I know you don´t have the football world´s sympathy, but I wouldn´t wish this guy on anyone and he´ll only drag you down further, and no one wants a football club to cease existence. Any questions on him I can try and ask, might not come on that often but will pop back.
  18. Appy's thoughts: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/20/michael-appleton-portsmouth Loads of omissions, but fair enough, it's an article about Appy's perspective.
  19. Maybe it's the Danish fans that are letting the club down. I'll call these guys in a minute - can they stay at your place, Turkish? You'll have loads to talk about
  20. Guilty as charged m'lud Main forum has been unbearable all summer, but yesterday something clicked back into place. Suddenly there was something more concrete to discuss rather than endless discussions about... well, nothing really...
  21. This thread brings out the most lyrical side in all us nutjobs - excellent effort
  22. Not sure about the Williamson story - rumours have it that he had a falling out with Danny Wilson and was waiting in vain to be picked up by a Championship club. This Pompey stint is his way of putting himself in the shop window and as such Pompey may not have outbid Sheff Utd directly. Today's attendance at FP was quite good and the Bompey fans give praise to the noise levels. Pompey's merry band of mercenaries put on a good show and the troubled skates had a day in the sun. Nutjobs were outraged by Macleod and overjoyed by Barnard. Everyone's a winner for the day But. It does not make the slightest difference for reasons listed over and over again during the last few days. Winchester Red gave a reminder on page 1444 (http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?14620-Pompey-Takeover-Saga&p=1444058#post1444058): So this is the economical equivalent of pretending to not hear the ref whistle for offside and play on to score a goal. Nice one chaps, but it won't really count once economical reality catches up with you
  23. Very enjoyable read. Thanks for making the effort of getting feedback from all 20 clubs!
  24. You take the easy solution: "I just get behind the club no matter what". That's great, but you are actually allowed to be critical towards your club without being a lesser fan. I know it takes effort, and it may even get in the way of ambition and ... sigh ... being competitive, but win at any cost really isn't anything to boast about. So people on here may actually believe that some Pompey fans might really feel embarrased over how the club has screwed over so many creditors, bend every rule in the book, bend every unwritten rule in the unwritten book, showed a shocking lack of respect for their local community and the whole footballing world, and that maybe a small dose of humility might be a good idea. But no, Pompey always 'dig in', mislead by that wonderfully absurd idea that the club is entitled to be competitive at any time, no matter what the circumstances. Don't deny it, it's the same embarrasing song we've heard from so many Pompey fans ever since Riquelme got lost at the airport, we heard it in the championship and we're hearing it in League One. If you get relegated you'll have the honours of whining about not being competitive in the top four leagues in England - quite a feat! On the whole, mistaking your deliberate ignorance of the clubs dealings with diehard fanship just seems the easy way - and most certainly nothing to be proud of. It's not the scummers that are insecure - it's those who are afraid to take responsibility for the actions made by their club, always blaming it on CSI, Portpin, Chainrai, Lampitt, Kanu, Birch, Redknapp, FL etc. - never, ever the fans. And subsequently you never feel the need to step lightly, 'cause it's not your fault. Going to Gibraltar instead of paying back creditors? Fine, it's not your fault. Getting 10 players in when the club is almost almost drained economically? Fine, you need to be competitive. No, but you gang up on them when they want to get paid for playing for the splendid club, hounding them out of town. Mob mentality at it's worst, and you proudly admit it. And as for the fighting spirit from the fans: it would be slightly more credible to hear others call you the bestest fans in the whole wide world instead of hearing it on a daily basis from yourselves. Yes, I'm fully aware that you actually believe it and we can discuss it from here to PFC2015 Ltd. without agreeing, but would it be possible to have fewer of those cringeworthy award ceremonies where you both give and receive the award yourselves? It's masturbation, at least get a handjob from someone FFS. We were the ones showing banners to the miserable Arsenal fans saying "cheer up, you won", and as for the 70.000 posts of course not, that would take too much effort from the 10ish members that are left after the carnage on POL Ha ha, must do better trolling next time. Admitting that you'll be watching us on MOTD?
