That was rather well timed considering our difficult start to the season and the subsequent media speculation about NA. Could only have a positive effect for NA and his relationship towards fans, players, and the chairman. Proper 12th man stuff

I must be highly improper then My position on Saints:

Asked a Fiorentina fan about Boruc. His answer roughly translates to: "Boruc has been first choice since Frey left and has been quite good over the last couple of seasons. Actually, amongst the team's best over the course of a whole season. Fiorentina has seen a huge clearout after some terrible seasons, and the owners need to regain the backing of the fans. The new keeper Viviano is born in Florence and is a fan of the club having attended lots of games. The fans see him as one of their own. And he's a good keeper, so this signing makes sense"...

Funny that they use the "every team see us as a cup final" card. Tell me again, what two cup finals did they have last year? Oh yes, two draws treated as brilliant victories and still cherished by the fans
-
He's been in good hands at Saints but really could only progress by playing games. Now we'll now his true level - and I hope he becomes a very good keeper

Loving it! First Premier League win since Norwich at home 30/04/2005! 7½ years chaps and chappesses!

Interesting choice. Is he still any good? He used to be immense...

Sorry for the auto-translation - I couldn't be bothered to do it myself: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=da&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bold.dk%2Fnyt%2FPompey-spillere-slaas-fra-maaned-til-maaned Basically, he thinks it's an advantage that they are on short term contracts as this means, they are always at their exam...

I think I'll just hang around in this thread until... well, something nice occurs that will reduce the amount of drivel posted in virtually all other threads by people competing to be "cynic of the month"... Enjoy people, it's football, it's beautiful, we're facing a huge challenge, we may or may not be succesful.

As usual, the Pompey fan I know is streets ahead. He wanted liquidation already in January and he has put a question mark over Appy's quality. He desperately wants the trust to succeed but acknowledges that they are underfunded. He's probably in a minority of sensible Pompey fans though :-/

Hey, I did that joke 4000 posts ago! http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?14620-Pompey-Takeover-Saga&p=1433927#post1433927

Desperatly grasping for a positive, at least we've had a wake-up call now instead of getting it somewhere after christmas like Blackpool did. This is real, opponents are good, our team has faults, but there are still 34 games to go and we have loads of opportunities to work with the current players, the formation etc. and strengthen in January. Last time we were in the Premier League we made it a trademark to occasionally get hammered by the big teams but win the important games and survive. Have faith in this team - they are a bunch of winners and will do everything they can to bounce back. COYS!

... A man races inside a bar, panicking, sweating and downright worried. He turns to all the patrons and starts yelling "does anyone own a 6foot penguin" "does anyone own a 6foot penguin" .. Slowly all the guys shake their head, all apologising as they cannot help the guy... ... This guys lowers his head, and as he walks out of the bar, he whispers to himself ...."****, i hit a nun"......

Scott had just been to see his doctor. "How can I help you?" the doc asked. Scott said, "I was chilling out this morning listening to 'In The Air Tonight' when suddenly my iPod accidentally slipped up my ass, now it's stuck." The Doc looked at him with a puzzled face and said, "I've never heard anything like that before." Scott said, "It's a Phil Collins song."

A Catholic priest, a Boy Scout leader and a lawyer take some boys out on an adventure trip. On the flight over, there is engine trouble and the plane is about to go down. "We have a problem", says the pilot. "There are only three parachutes!" The Boy Scout leader suggests they give them to the boys. "Screw the boys," shouts the lawyer. "Is there time?" asks the priest.

A guy stuck his head into a barbershop and asked, "How long before iI can get a haircut ?" Barber looked around the shop full of customers and said, "About 2 hours." The guy left. Barber turned to his friend and said, "Bob, do me a favour, follow him and see where he goes. He's come in every day this week asking how long he has to wait for a haircut, but he never comes back." Little while later, Bob returned to the shop, laughing hysterically. Barber asked, "So, where does he go when he leaves?" Bob looked up, wiped the tears from his eyes and said: "Your house!"

So Trev, when was that deadline?

I see a touch of Nietzsche about the whole thing. The nutjobs have stared into this particular abyss for so long that we have become POL, the snooze etc. PFC probably died long time ago without us noticing and now we are debating various reincarnations of ourselves. Mindboggling to the extreme...

An interesting case is developing in Danish football: a number of clubs have substituted players' holiday pay with similar bonuses etc. Now some of the players have sued the clubs and won, so they have to pay them the holiday pay even though they indirectly did through bonuses. Why mention this in here? I just got a sense of deja vú when reading fans' reactions on various fora. Basically, they expect the players to waive their claims and they are very interested in letting the players know how much the fans now hate them. I think I recognise this theme from somewhere... Bonus info: my Danish club, Aalborg BK is involved, as is Brøndby, the club of the Pompey fan on the Danish footy site I frequent. He sure knows how to pick them

To be fair, the PCC did quite a good job walking tightrope between not wanting to give the loan while at the same time not wanting to lose popularity from football fans in the community. The solution of granting the loan with a lot of reservations was rather shrewd and it was apparent from the start that they had done their homework and that it was very unlikely that the situation would arise where they would have to shell out the money.

Seems like it's quite heavy on security: http://www.slate.com/articles/life/culturebox/2012/09/sept_11_memorial_does_the_world_trade_center_site_really_need_so_much_security_.2.html

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/football-league-blog/2012/sep/08/coventry-city-abyss-sisu "What frustrates is they [sisu] can suddenly find £10m to try and buy the stadium, but they can't pay the rent on it and they can't buy players," said their spokesman, Jan Mokrzycki. "It's obvious they don't give a monkeys about the club. No one else is going to come in and save us, it's up to the fans to do it ourselves. We might as well get in a position to do it now, rather than be like Portsmouth, scrambling around at the last minute trying to get something done."
