Debating getting rid of a keeper who has just been picked to play for England while honouring a ropey old mistake-monger like McCarthy with a new contract instead is the kind of Saintsness I thought we had left behind. Forster must either have a very bolshie agent or we are grumbling at paying 'over the odds' but his performances over the last period are one of the main reasons we are where we are and probably worth the extra. But someone is clearly digging their heels in. All a bit of a shame. But if he has to go, again, I hope we get a new number 1, rather than muddling through on the cheapskatery.
