Yeah it’s scandalous how disincentivised championship clubs are. I can accept the next round being on a weekend of full championship fixtures as not many will get through and it’s a 46 game season, but it should never be scheduled for Easter weekend when it’s a championship double header

I think our support has been very much like that in general recently. The atmosphere in the stands is a reflection of the tempo on the pitch - slow, turgid and boring mainly. We’re in a decent run of form but beating teams by boring them into submission. Obviously would rather win boring than not win, but it isn’t making for a good atmosphere at the moment

Decent enough result, shit atmosphere and away end. 20 years since I last went to Hillsborough and it’s more dilapidated than ever
-
Rob Edwards giving it the big one like they just stayed up. Weird
-
Big striker or not, we should’ve gone to a back 4 way before we did. Was so blatantly obvious we needed the extra man in midfield rather than playing Fellows at RWB and knocking it around the back 5 before giving it away. And with Manning’s complete lack of positional awareness, the formation was killing us. A CB at RB would’ve been far better than a 5 with Fellows and Manning
-
Yeah, we’ve only won 3 games all season against sides currently in the top half, all at home (Wrexham, Birmingham, Watford). Going to have to start beating some decent sides on the road as well
-
Doubt it’ll be a big points total for 6th this season. The top 2 aren’t even going at 2 ppg, nobody else in the league has been putting together long strings of results before the next wobble, ourselves included. We’ve been making up ground on everyone since Tonda took over even with that shit run over Xmas and dropping silly points like on Saturday. Not saying we’re going to definitely going to do it but if we consistently play at the levels we can and should be at, we should be involved.

2006, we were 3-1 up. Mark Crossley scored from that corner. The whiskey George days
-
I mean, they’ve lost their last 10 in a row. If we concentrate and give the game the respect it deserves, we’ll be fine.

This was the lineup last time I was at Hillsborough, mad that it’s 2 decades ago. Davis, Ostlund, Lundekvam (Viafara 46), Baird, Bale, Pele, Skacel, Wright, Surman, Rasiak, Jones (Wright-Phillips 46)

I’ve got a spare for this if anyone wants it, upper stand. Face value £20. I know they’re still on sale but only in the lower now. Will be on the 07:52 train from Soton Central, around Sheffield City centre at lunchtime or can meet by the ground before kickoff

Thought the atmosphere was as bad as it’s been all season. Poor attendance and it was dead quiet, first half especially. I just think it matches the intensity on the pitch, when there’s nothing happening and we just stroll about knocking it around the back 4, the crowd isn’t exactly inspired. Better 2nd half, though there were probably only 10k left in the ground at 90 minutes.

Weird game that. Thought we were pretty rubbish first half but went in 2-0 anyway. So frustratingly slow in possession, sideways and backwards so often when there were massive gaps and opportunities to play forward. On the few occasions we did, we created. QPR have been really up and down this season and we caught them on an off day, they were garbage. Better 2nd half, more urgency to shift it quicker and no surprise it led to chances. Very happy with a 5-0 win but left feeling we should be way higher up the table if we’d actually try to move the ball quicker more often.
-
Yeah same. Jander hasn’t been on it recently. Maybe trying to play him back into form but we need 3 points tonight
-
Must win really to keep any ideas of the playoffs alive. Failing to beat Charlton and QPR at home would make it clear that we haven’t turned a corner at all and we’ve just had the rub of the green recently leading to another temporary run of results. Could do with a convincing performance and win to set up the rest of the season

Or by getting thrashed at home by Pompey midweek.
-
Lost that because we were timid and lacked urgency against a shit side who were there for the taking. Boring, slow, side to side bullshit and obsession with possession rather than playing in the right areas. If we’d come out and attacked them properly, conceding 1 wouldn’t have been an issue.

Manning is a decent option to throw on if you need a late goal, or you’re going to be camped in the opposition half and he’s got no defending to do. When he has got defending to do, we concede too many goals.

Yeah there’s very little in it, harsh for either of them to be on the bench. Was thinking we’re likely to have a lot of the ball and maybe Jander is a better option in games like that
-
Was hoping that with Tonda’s new found love of defensive solidity and a clean sheet, he might leave Manning on the bench
-
Shame that Welington is out for a bit. Just need to go strong as possible and manage minutes later on if possible. Peretz Bree THB Stephens Jelert Downes Jander Fellows Azaz Scienza Stewart
-
Still unbearable to listen to then. They got smashed by Pompey but were the better side in his eyes

Even with Saints going through challenging times, there’s still enjoyment to be taken elsewhere in football. Arsenal’s annual new year meltdown, Spurs being Spurs, seeing clubs like Forest and Leicester seemingly imploding from the inside from trying to cheat success.

2 hours to Clapham junction via Fareham and Havant. Brilliant
