Boro have just been very effective. 1-0 wins against Sheff U and Swansea, 2-1 against Norwich and WBA. Draw with Preston and battered Millwall. Not strolling through games but they’ve worked out how to win, we need some of that starting today

And thank God WS has confirmed that his tactics aren’t to lump it forward to Archer. He now just needs to make the fans believe him when he says it

Thought he was pretty poor. Sloppy in possession and his delivery wasn’t up to much yesterday. So many safe sideways passes and even they were underhit at times. Him and Downes were the most guilty of slowing us down I thought. Lucky for us Murphy was on the other side, he’d have had Manning on toast

Just watching it back, my god the first half was awful. With that front 4, what the fuck are we doing just pumping it long into the channels? I thought once Will got the creative players he wanted, we’d look to play through the lines? They’ve really let us down here and we didn’t deserve any more than a point. Really hoping Jelert is good enough to come in and replace Manning as a starter. He’s decent enough if you’re well in front or chasing the game and need a goal, but quite likely to be the reason you were chasing the game in the first place

I know it’s not a high bar but Stephens has been our best CB this season. Was hoping THB would show his previous Championship form but yet to see it. Quarshie has looked really shaky, Edwards too… sort of process of elimination

Got to hope it’ll look better in a proper system. We’ve always looked shaky with 3 CBs. WS has got to tighten things up. Mads Wood Stephens Jelert (Bree THB Quarshie/Edwards Manning) That, with some decent protection in front of them will hopefully do the trick. We’ve struggled with the space in behind the wing backs so need to eradicate that. Not playing Manning will help, he’s just too slow and slow to close down, but reasonable as backup.

We had loads of shit 1-1 draws in that run, most of which we should’ve comfortably won but found ourselves not capitalising (recycling the ball around the back 4 for an hour), and conceding shit goals (from attempting to recycle the ball around the back 4). Didn’t make up any ground at all

It’s great to see a big overhaul of some off the dross that have been stinking the place out for too long, and some positive signings ready to come straight in and improve the starting XI. But doesn’t it seem weird that we’re doing nothing about the piss poor goalkeeping department, while being so ruthless elsewhere?
