They look absolutely horrendous at the back, 2 set pieces. Would love to see Stewart, big Downs and Manning against this lot I reckon
-
Agree that Still doesn’t seem to enjoy being at the pressers, but it’s nice that you can listen to him speak and generally agree with everything he’s saying. He seems honest but knows he’s got to be vague on certain topics. Good to hear after the last couple of seasons and wondering how someone can come out with such a load of bollocks to the media.

Yeah, tonight was crying out for an extra man in midfield and winning more second balls, and playing higher up the pitch. Lots for Will to think about. Big pressure on Ipswich though after a rough start
-
Just back to the hotel after the game. 1st round cup ties are for learning a few things about your side and I hope we’ve learned this: - BBD is still shit - 3 at the back is unnecessary against 1 up top - We’ll need to be far better on Sunday - Northampton is more of a shithole than Southampton - Matty Fernandes will score a goal for me
-
Was concerned by what I saw in pre season but I’m pretty happy with what I saw implemented from Will Still today. Referee had no interest in us winning but we made positive subs and piled on the pressure when we were behind, all or nothing attitude which got us the win. Up the fucking Saints, welcome to the Championship you Hollywood cunts

Oh right, that’d do it. Anyway, I still think we need an upgrade.
-
If it means that the manager isn’t convinced that Bree is the answer at RB, and Suga is only trusted at RWB in a 5, then I’m on board with the decision. Hopefully we’re in the market for a better RB who’s comfortable in a 4. KWP will prove very hard to replace.

The same Russell Martin who played Dibling in some of the most baffling and ineffective formations in terms of attacking intent we’ve ever seen. Bournemouth away still haunts me. Wonder if he’ll implement 5-5-0 seen there or the famous ‘U’ formation at Rangers.
-
Highlights reel is him going past players with ease, followed by a shot a yard the wrong side of the near post, or a cross to nothing, or down the keeper’s throat. He’s got big potential but we’ve seen very little end product, very little work rate off the ball, some would say questionable desire. I don’t blame the club for hanging out for big payday, but if I was the club in the market for a £45m+ creative player, I’d be very nervous that he was going to be a flop.

If you’d said a few weeks ago that we were starting the Championship season with Bazunu, Bree, Stephens, Manning and Fraser in the first XI, I’d have said don’t be ridiculous. But here we are. Too many squad players. Add in Archer who always does fuck all, Sesay and Quarshie who we can’t really pass judgment on yet, it feels pretty grim.
-
Pretty easy that
-
Let’s fucking hope so

I doubt anyone is prepared to come up with the sort of money we’d even think about accepting. He’s looked good in flashes but very little end product or consistency. Only 2 goals and no assists, even if he did make some established PL full backs look pretty ordinary, it’s not a great return. If I was a Prem club looking at him, I’d be saying it’s a huge gamble for the sort of money being talked about. Another full season in the Championship would do him good IMO
-
Yeah I don’t think it’s a bad move. If we go back up, we don’t have to scramble around for a PL standard keeper, if he hasn’t made the #1 spot his own there
-
Asking price £60m with a 50% sell on clause. Then he might be sticking around
-
He’s fucking terrible. Great banter though, apparently
-
Stephens has been involved in a few conceded in pre season
-
That’s a shocker
-
Clumsy from Bree, should be a penalty for them
-
Fernandas and Charles pretty decent, front 4 absolute garbage. Not a whole lot of movement or ideas
-
Yeah I don’t like the plain white back on the kit, plain red or stripes would be far less likely to cause random clashes. I’ve never rated Archer based on how little he does off the ball and not seeing any different here. Though aware that nobody has done much at the business end of the pitch
-
I’m fine with us having mediocre players, that’s going to happen at this level. What I can’t get behind is making one of your most mediocre players your captain when he’s demonstrated time and time again that he’s a liability and will cost us stupid points in big games because he loses his head. Just because he’s apparently got some bants, I don’t know how that makes him leadership material. Especially when most wouldn’t even have him in a starting XI based on talent alone.
-
Playing to our individual player’s strengths? Sounds almost too sensible after the last couple of years. I wonder what he’ll do when he learns his captain’s strengths are roaming around the pitch out of position and pulling people’s hair.
-
Some decent moves and finishes in the 2nd game
-
Multiple more game throwing sending offs to come then. Can’t wait. He’s a liability and not the leadership we need.
