We might as well embrace this as our South Coast derby, it will probably be a decade before we play Pompey again.
-
Our gun control laws are the reason a Derek Bird type incident doesn't happen every few months like in the US you dumb ***t.
-
But they should feel comfortable everywhere, that's the point. That's why it's good that these famous people come out - because culture can change.
-
I don't mean 2nd base or anything like that but I've seen plenty of couples holding hands etc. You have to be naive in the extreme to not think the culture that surrounds football is not off-putting to homosexual displays of affection. Saints are a fairly decent club but I know some right nasty pieces of work that go to games.
-
I have seen many gay people holding hands etc before, go to Brighton or Soho and it is a very common sight, yet at St Mary's it's not. The reasons for that is that is 1: There are probably more gay people in those places. and 2: They probably feel more comfortable/safer showing affection in these places than at a football ground - because of the culture that surrounds football.
-
Just because you don't see people shouting homophobic comments or committing hate crime on a daily basis doesn't mean homophobic attitudes don't exist. I would say it is much more prevalent than racism. When was the last time you saw two gay fans holding hands or kissing at a football match? I've been going to football for over 30 years and don't remember one occasion.

Not sure why you get so defensive, I'm guessing it's because deep down you know we are right and that bugs you. You also probably realise that with ever massacre there is, people with your attitude have blood on their hands because you are the reason nothing is changing. There is plenty wrong with the UK, but that's not the subject of this thread.

Except within the Church and also some Muslim countries - where it still carries the death penalty.

There was a classic SWF meltdown.I definitely remember some people getting upset, saying he was irreplaceable
-
Poor old St George is just getting defensive because he knows we are right and the truth hurts, especially coming from a bunch of Limeys who naturally have a superiority complex. I loved every minute of it when I was over in the states, it's a fantastic country. But they need to sort their gun problem out - any right minded Yank would say the same.

MORE successful without the egomania, pettiness, fan-unfriendliness and terrible PR. As Hypo says above, plenty of posters on here tried to convince us that these attributes were necessary to run a football club when in fact they are counter-productive.

Sensible or foolish bet on Bournemouth
aintforever replied to Sergei Gotsmanov's topic in The Lounge
Good bet, there is no way they will survive with the injuries they have. They are only above the bottom three because of a decent run of fixtures, they will be way adrift by Xmas. -
If you think that is an example of good police work you are a f@cking idiot, it doesn't matter what country you are from. The copper didn't even have good reason to pull him over FFS. Typical example of a ****** cop throwing his weight around after having his ego dented. The kid wasn't even acting in a threatening behaviour until he was dragged out and Tazered. Land of the free, don't make me laugh. The way that cop pulled him over for no reason and demanded ID is more akin to Nazi Germany.

On the subject of schools, how important do you guys think it is to go to a decent school? The school I went to was pretty sh!tty but I ended up going to uni and have a half decent job - but looking at the quality of some schools maybe I was held back a bit. I have a young daughter and the local Comprehensive (Hamble) looks rubbish (rated 3) whereas the one down the road, Wildern, is rated as outstanding but it's not in our catchment. Would it be worth moving house or paying for private or is it more down to the individual?
-
I think I would only be in favour of them if they were targeted towards deprived areas or kids with potential from hard up families who could never afford private education.
-
Oh sh!t, no one told me we had crime over here! Better go buy myself a firearm to shoot the bad guys before they get me. Won't be able to sleep at night now unless I have a pistol under my pillow - I guess that's what Liberty feels like yeah?
-
We may be a bit worse off, we may be better off, we won't know unless we leave. To be honest I made up my mind after watching my wife go through agonising pain waiting ages for a qualified doctor in an overstretched hospital full of Polish and Romanians - in Southampton. My best mate is a builder who is having to compete with Polish guys willing to work for peanuts and a friend of mine had to wait for 2 hours for an ambulance whilst in agony because they were too busy. The housing crisis is a simple supply and demand problem, where is next year's extra 300,000 going to live? And the 300,000 or more that will turn up in 2017?
-
Don't think it will be the answer to everything, just a price worth paying to stop uncontrolled immigration.
-
Big difference is the UK's economy is the 5th largest in the world.
-
Again, I'm not sure why what we have done historically is important, immigration has never been at the levels it is today so there has never been a serious need to control it until now. And the only way to have ANY sort of control is to leave the EU. If we were building the equivalent housing, schools and hospitals for the extra 3-500,000 that turn up every year I wouldn't have a problem but we are making cuts in services and still adding large and unpredictable amounts of new people every year - it's bonkers.
-
Doesn't mean we can't control it in the future, immigration has never been as high as it has been recently thanks to the EU migration so you are clearly talking nonsense. 500,000 more people every year is rediculous. It could be more next year, we havn't got a clue and are completely powerless to do anything about it.
-
Immigration is positive but uncontrolled immigration causes many problems and the ONLY way to have control is to leave the EU. Leave the EU and we can make immigration more of a positive. Stop the downward pressure on wages, help the housing crisis and release the pressure on public services. We can welcome people in from all over the World who have the skills we need. At the moment we are turning away skilled nurses from Asia because we are having to let in hundreds of thousands of unskilled people from all over Europe. Controlling immigration will also allow us to take in more refugees who are in need of help.

That is pretty scary if true, according to some bloke on the radio this morning the previous Russian incursions into Turkish airspace was purely to test NATO, looks like they might have pushed a bit far.

Verbal's right, OBL not getting a trial is unfortunate at best. I don't think the Yanks had much choice in how it turned out anyway, what they did was very high risk operation even without trying to take him alive. That is of course if he is dead and not in a shed in Deigo Garcia tied to a chair with electrodes on his gonads.
