Deserves 18 months IMO, he is obviously complete sc*m. I expect he wont even serve half that, some pussy do-gooder will let him out after 4.

It's amazing how the Skates still think they are a bigger club even though we are two leagues below them getting bigger crowds. Sure, a good ground helps attendances but blimey, St Marys is not that good! 17,826 watched pompey take on Tevez, Adebayor, Bellamy 'n' co's Man City in the World's richest, most glamourous league. 19,169 watched bottom of table Southampton play Brentford (including such crowd pullers as Cleveland Taylor, Myles Weston and Danny Foster) in England's 3rd league. It's not even close, I would guess that all things equal, Southampton's support would be 1/4 to 1/3 bigger.

I worked out slightly more facist than Nelson Mandela.

Big difference, all they are doing under the Sheikh is living within their means, we did that for 30 years. And we regularly sold out a 32K stadium whilst suffering the same type of regeme as Mr Sheikh.

You were the one who felt the need to start throwing insults around, I'm just joining in the fun. I've never been in a union in my life, I earn decent money so will probably be better off if the torys get in anyway so am not bothered either way - just feel strongly about certain social injustices. Now you get back to jerking off over your mum's underwear catalogue, and leave the politics to the grown ups.

Spoken like a true nobhead.

Dont give me that tax rubbish, it is easy to have a fairer tax system that generates the same income. IMO a more progressive tax system would help the country in this current climate so your mate should pay more. I have a friend who has made a absolute fortune, a few extra percent in tax would make no difference to his lifestyle whatsoever - he certainly wont leave the country.

Oh not this "worked hard, fruits of labour" rubbish, there are millions who work their asses of doing more worthwhile jobs, it's just this ****ed up society skewed by rampant capitalism doesn't deem their jobs valuable enough, even if it is saving lives or protecting society. I'm sure your mate is a top bloke, but all the wealth he has created for his company and himself and Mr Brown has just been taken from someone else, he hasn't created anything.
-
Think he's probably more upset by the fact that the Skates used to get crowds of 7K when they were in the league ABOVE us. Our demise has been depressing but at least it has settled the "who is the biggest" argument once and for all, even allowing for our superior stadium the stats are quite clear, Southampton is at least a third bigger in terms of support.
-
You say "Capitalism won" as if the Worlds economy is like a football match that has just blown full time. The world is still turning, we have dug ourselves out of one hole by borrowing and printing money - things will inevitably come to a head and a more socialist attitude may end up the best way forward. the rich can get richer and poor poorer for only so long, when the banker makes himself and his company millions he hasn't created any wealth, he's just taking wealth from someone else.

Why should postal workers get job guarantees when everyone else with normal jobs do not?
-
To be fair, there will always be people from ****ty countries willing to do ****ty jobs for less money.

It is a good idea but I think one problem in getting the unemployed to do things like litter-picking is that it makes current litter-pickers redundant. So all you end up doing is lowering the wage of the worst jobs. In principle it's a good idea, if they can find a way for it to work.

like Corp Ho, I'm far from being an expert on these sort of things but the important words in this are vying, could, suggest, fringes, hints. That report tells us nothing. My reporter mate always says that if the story says "insider/source said" it is usually just made up.

Fair Trade, Organic, Eco-Friendly or Price
aintforever replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Lounge
I think governments should ensure that all products are fair trade to be honest. -
It is a sad state of affairs that all we have is a choice between a disfunctional Labour party with their one eyed Scottish idiot and Cameron's soggy biscuit brigade. I generally side towards Labour because i believe more in what they are supposed to stand for, but with them you get obscene hand outs to dole bludgers and benefit cheats. With the torys you dont get that but you get a bunch of toffs royally screwing over anyone who is not rich. We are ****ed either way.

If this Al Faraj bloke is a billionare don't you think he would have come out with some proof by now? After the first Arab episode all this uncertainty in the press is the last thing the pompey players and fans need. He could put a stop to it all in an instant by simply giving the press the information on his money/companies/assets etc IF he is a billionare. The fact that he s allowing all this negative press continue should be ringing big alarm bells IMO.
-
It all appears to me that Pompey are just fire-fighting their debts, it wouldn't surprise me if this new arab is just as skint as the last one and has just secured a loan against future parachute payments and has taken a punt on them somehow staying up. Either that or he is just a front for some dirty money. I find it way too bizarre to believe that he could be a billionare but no one can find any info about him. Even reclusive billionare's leave a trail, they would be on a companies board somewhere, or someone would have sold them a mega-yacht.

You're probably right, it just seems a daft waste of money, it hasn't stopped any of the numerous wars we've been dragged into and as soon as any country starts chucking nukes around the World's over anyway so I can't see them ever being used by anyone. The only danger I can see is if a terrorist islamic group get hold of some, and they would not give a stuff about any deterrent. With the state of our finances I would rather take the gamble and not spend the cash.
-
But surely even having an few old nukes is a deterant? They may or may not work properly and the might not be in operation all the time - but it would be one hell of a gamble for any country to attack us while they are there.

Why has no one been on the moon since 1972?
aintforever replied to thesaint sfc's topic in The Lounge
Naa, only the Yanks are dumb enough to spend billions visiting a useless lump of rock. -
I think a fairer comparison would be how Pearson did with Leicester in this league. I remember the "anyone can get a team with money promoted out of League 1" statements that were held against Pearson last year. Will be interesting to see how our "anyone" does this and next season.

So there is still plenty scientists do not know about the moon then - I thought the reason no one has been back for 3 decades is because they know everything there is to know about it?
