The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
aintforever replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
I think when people bang on about 'politics of envy' it says more about them than those who want just a fairer society with public services that actually work. -
This. The ceasefire looked like it was working until Trump unveiled his plans to turn Gaza into a tourist resort. Now what we are seeing is just blatant ethnic cleansing.
 -
Yep fully understand the context, still not racist. You carry on with your faux outrage though snowflake.
 -
So suggesting foreigners may not have a perfect grasp of English is racist now. Blimey, you snowflakes need to lighten up a bit. Maybe you should add that to the dopey "things that are racist" thread.
 -
Is it racist to unintentionally suggest a foreigner’s grasp of English might not be as good as that of a British person?
 -
I think that’s a simplistic way of looking at it, we still have much of the squad that got promoted before and have assets to sell. With the right amount of investment and a decent manager we should be in a good position to challenge. We have a big squad of championship quality players (apart from 2 or 3), unfortunately in the Prem that means you get dicked every week, in the Championship where players like Armstrong can bag 20+ goal a season it should be a different story.

Is it really racist to suggest a foreigner’s grasp of English might not be as good as that of a British person?
 -
All three that got promoted last year got spanked and sent down without a fight - unless we get really lucky with some signings or academy players we will never be promoted ready for the Prem. Leeds will probably find that out next season.
 -
Smallbone and Stewart - fuck off Rusk
 -
But Cooper knows the Championship and knows how to get promoted out of it.
 -
But who have at least managed in the Championship. And have other attributes, Rohl with his links to the club and Lampard who is a name who could attract players.
 -
I would go for Cooper. Would be happy with Rohl or Lampard.
 -
I’m not against getting a manager from abroad with no experience of English football, just prefer it if they have actually achieved something. Still would be a pointless gamble IMO.
 -
That’s just football though, Coventry wouldn’t think twice in sacking him if results were bad. I would prefer Cooper but wouldn’t be against Lampard, I would have him over Still any day.
 -
Only if they stick to the rules.
 -
	You don't know that.
 -
Is getting a top half finish with Lens really a great achievement?
 -
This. Would be a weird appointment, has he actually achieved anything?
 -
I guess it depends on what Saints can offer compared to Coventry, if it's a massive difference in terms of salary and money to spend on the squad he might see it as a good opportunity. He's got a patchy record but Coventry played some decent stuff last night, looked like a well coached outfit. Plus I think having a 'name' might be a benefit us in our current situation.

Except "Every single election in my lifetime has been decided based on personalities. "
 -
Except elections are 100% a popularity contest.
 -
No strikers and 5 shit defenders at the back, this could get really messy.
 -
I’m in. I’d rather my tax went to asylum seekers than scrounging, entitled northerners. Even if they are economic migrants, which most are not, at least they are showing a bit of get-up and go instead of blaming all life’s ills on people who don’t look like them.
 -
I dunno, I think it was more to do with Labour in general looking like the more competent party. I expect they could have wheeled out almost anyone as leader and still won. Starmer’s lack of personality probably cost them votes.
 -
Because there was no problem with small boats until after Brexit, before that we could just send them back to the first EU country they arrived at.
