  1. I agree with this post.Seriously though, I am not sure whether the exchanges on here are helping "19's mental health issues (whatever they might be)" or making them worse.
  2. So..... all of our problems are down to Wilde and Crouch, but the original relegation from the Prem was just an "occupational hazard". I see it all so clearly now. Thank God that Rupert had no involement.
  3. A quite reasoned and sensible post, but where I think that it falls down a bit is with regard to RL/MW bringing their own men in. Did ANYBODY have any confidence in JP/MW when they were announced?? I would have thought that even a journeyman but experienced manager would have been a better gamble than the one that RL took. The promised world of "Total Football" (and JP DID use that phrase in his first interiew) was the empty one that we all thought (although we did hope) that it would turn out to be. So whilst I wouldn`t totally lay the blame for the second relegation (although I would the first) at RL/MW`s door, the Dutch appointments were a big contributory factor.
  4. Indeed. A damned close-run thing.
  5. Sulaiman Al Fahim to complete Portsmouth takeover and save club from administration By Colin Wood Last updated at 2:22 AM on 21st July 2009 Comments (0) Add to My Stories Sulaiman Al Fahim is expected to finally complete his takeover at Portsmouth today – saving them from becoming the first Premier League club to go into administration. Al Fahim was last night given the go-ahead to finalise his £60m buyout after passing the Premier League’s stringent new fit-and-proper-person test. It comes just in time to stop South African-based Standard Bank calling in the administrators to reclaim an unpaid £30m loan. Flashing the cash: Sulaiman Al Fahim (left) seen here with Piers Morgan Bank officials are believed to have contacted Pompey on Friday to demand repayment by the end of this week. In a further twist it has emerged the Premier League’s checks have scared off the mystery backers Al Fahim had lined up. The investors wanted to remain anonymous but, under league rules, anyone with over a ten per cent stake in a consortium must be identified and undergo the test. This means Al Fahim will struggle to make any big-money signings.
  6. Almost as funny as this thread:- http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=288
  7. Lets be selective when it comes to the events of the last few years shall we if that`s how you work. The reason for the nightmare of the last 5 years is that we were relegated from the Prem. The relegation was as the result of gross mismanagement, a series of frequent and unsuitable managerial appointments and a serious lack of meaningful investment in the team, although Lowe did say at the beginning of the relegation season that "We have the strongest squad that we`ve ever had!!". Had the relegation not happened, the subsequent childish in-fighting in the boardroom would probably not have occured. As for Lowe "jumping in to bed" with Wilde - well that was hugely well thought out and successful wasn`t it? But never mind, it was all Crouch and McMenemys fault. Rupert truly is "a Saint"
  8. Solent have said that the Saints forum will take place after the transfer window closes at the end of August.
  9. Yeah but that was nothing either. And don`t forget Saints are always succesful when LM isn`t around It`s not just coincidence.
  10. Aren`t Charlton at our level.
  11. Ah, but he did it for his own gain you see. He put "conditions" on his "loan" to make himself feel important, get a good return and wasn`t thinking of the club at all. The man is a shyster unlike RL who did a good job and is beyond critisism. All according to 19C.
  12. Nah!! He is just ingratiating himself with the locals.
  13. Misinformation will prevent 19C from having an "opinion".
  14. Do you really think that 19C will "put it to bed?"
  15. I have been thinking about this. I have been supporting Saints for well over 50 years. I have been a ST holder since 1975. I like to think that I am reasonably intelligent. I like to think that I know and understand much about Saints and their history, and for that reason I have come to the conclusion that people like 19C/Sundance/Scooby/Spaceman/Fire Fighter/ Flashman etc are really nothing but mindless trolls who get a mental erection by winding people up on an internet forum that, in theory, is a medium for like minded people to exchange views. I am sorry that it has taken me that long to realise this (it must be an age thing!) but it has finally dawned. 19C etc - just get on with it, if it presses your buttons. I have more constructive and life affirming things in my life to enjoy, rather than reading the bile that you post, hoping to get a "high" from it. You really are very sad. You "enjoy" Saints in your way, and I`ll enjoy them in the way that I have for so long.
  16. Told by whom? Was what you were told correct? Please don`t ever let facts get in the way of prejudice. Please explain why with other certain individuals it`s " it`s all in the past. Let it go." but with Lawrie it`s a witch hunt. I belong to a certain club and anyone that has performed wonders for that club is given life membership and short of a murder, nothing will blacken what they have achieved. Not at Saints obviously.
  17. Yes it does. Thank you.
  18. Another one to add to your hit-list then. Is there anyone involved with Saints (past or present) that you have something good to say about??
  19. Sounds like something that you would be an expert on.
  20. LM was manager here for 12years. He didn`t "just win the Cup". He attracted the top player in England and Europe to this club (KK was European Footballer of the Year when we signed him). We made 3 appearances at Wembley. We finished Runners-Up in the old First Division. He gave this club times that we can only dream of. It`s a bit like trying to tell people born in the 80`s how big The Beatles were. If you were not there, then you probably don`t understand, but this doesn`t change the facts.
  21. I don`t think that anyone is trying to canonise him, least of all me, but there has to be balance. Certain individuals on here are waging a hate campaign against him and that is not acceptable for a man that gave this club the greatest days that it has ever had. Whether you were around then or not doesn`t alter the facts. Lawrie deserves RESPECT.
  22. But you didn`t hear Frys interview or see the printed version in the Echo. How convenient.
