Wasn`t that Don Roper?

Just finishing "Company of Liars" a very readable and enjoyable "novel of the plague" by Karen Maitland. Have Antony Beevors book "D-Day. The Battle for Normandy" lined up next.

I`ve got an N97. Very impressed with it. Still getting used to it but nothing bad so far. QWERTY keyboard great for e-mails etc. No problem setting up for e-mail - cetainly easier than the N95. Loads of apps and video quality very good.

I would not have followed another football team, although as I live within walking distance of Eastleighs ground I may have occaisionaly gone to watch them. I would have spent more time watching Rugby (trips to 'Quins and/or London Irish I expect) and any Speedway that I could get to. I fell out of love with big-time football a long time ago but love watching Saints. After 50 years, they`re a difficult habit to break!!

Came off the bench against Ajax I think.

Glad to see that Linley is staying too.

I quite agree. This friendly was (I think) only announced 2 weeks ago, i.e. a week before the Ajax game. By this time I had other arrangement made for yesterday which could not be put off. I am sure that their were a lot of other people who wanted to watch the FP Cup Final as well. I have my season ticket, the same as I have for the last 35 years. Does me not going to a hastily arranged freindly make me feel ashamed and a less than genuine supporter? Not at all.

Re-newed mine yesterday - got it in the post this morning! Can`t wait for the season to start!

Anyone else remember this version? :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WDQLxQb7bc

Corp:- "Nick Nack, the posts may have been pertinent but why include my name in everything you post. It does make you look like a freak. And no transfer gossip threads as I can't start threads. Easy enough for even you to grasp I'd imagine. However, if you're interested, the players we've been linked with over the last couple of days are: Nikola Kalinic, Croatian striker from Hajduk Split - £6 - 8M Victo Obinna, Nigerian striker from Inter - £5.5m Bafetimbi Gomis, French striker from St Etienne - no fee mentioned Christien Poulsen, Swedish midfielder from Juve - £4m" You`ve been linked with?? That`s it then. They`ll definitely be signing!

Was there something shiny on the ground?

TBF we can all sit and say "it would be better if they did this or did that" but we didn`t even know if we had a club or whether the employees had jobs until recently. We are where we are this year so I think that we have to accept that the system is going to be less than perfect through lack of time. Next year should be a different story.

AP looking to appoint assistant and staff soon
miserableoldgit replied to Wildgoose's topic in The Saints
Solent reported this morning that he was likely to go for Kevin Dillon (skate connection??) and Wally Downes. Downes is a real "character" who got into a "spat" with Neil Warnock. Not difficult admittedly!! -
O.K. Tatanka, stop it now!! We have all got used to negativity on here over the last few years. We now have to get used to the "Brave New World" of positivity - at least for a while.
-
Well, firstly I don't think that he should stand up and say "we`ve got plenty of cash. Now where can I spend it?". Secondly it makes sense to have a good look around and see whats available for "free". e.g., I seem to remember that Dean Richards was a free transfer. And thirdly I don`t think that AP has actually ruled out paying transfer fees if neccessary. I think that he is doing the right thing.

For anyone interested in history, a couple of articles from todays papers. The first regarding a data-base of names of men who fought at Agincourt and the second a history of HMS Victory to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the laying of her keel:- http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1201517/Ploughmen-peasants-boys-aged-12--Named-centuries-unsung-heroes-carnage-Agincourt.html http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/115838/HMS-Victory-The-ship-that-nearly-sank-without-trace

19C, I have no knowledge or interest in any medical or mental problems that you may have. I have every sympathy with anybody who suffers from these problems. My problem with you is that you deliberately make posts that you know will get a reaction, and in such a smug, antagonistic style that it is guaranteed to make certain that that reaction is somewhat akin to that of wasps in a nest when you poke it with a stick. If this is really how you get your enjoyment, then you must take the consequences - you reap what you sow. I personally enjoy debate and the honest exchange of views and can quite happily accept that my views might be different to somebody else, and agree to differ, but sadly you seem to choose views that are "anti-populist" on purpose. We have to live with the results of that and so must you.
