  1. Where did this come from,or did you write it? It does look far too much like half decent English for it to have come from Fishtown.
  2. It does seem to have gone eerily quiet on the T.O. and massive signings front. Calm before the storm or a long lingering death I wonder.
  3. I really have mixed emulsions about playing in the JPT.
  4. I agree with what you say, it`s just that Crouch isn`t really the past. It is only a few weeks ago that him "throwing his money around" kept us alive. He doesn`t deserve a lot of the bile being directed at him. As far as I am concerned Lowe, Wilde et al are as far in the past as the caveman but Crouch is still here, albeit not in an official capacity.
  5. Can`t understand why 19C hasn`t appeared on this thread. Red rag to a bull I would have thought.
  6. What a particularly one-sided, and may I say, blinkered view. I agree that Crouch has his faults and undoubtedly played a part in the whole sorry saga that has been SFC over the last few years, but to indicate that he was the biggest cause of the problems is ridiculous. None of us know how things would have turned out if he had supported Lowe instead of (Saints Go) Wilde but I suspect that whilst the road may have been different, the destination would have still been the same, after all, the root of our problems was relegation from the Prem. As for Crouch "throwing his money around", we should be glad that he did because without it we wouldn`t hae a club. I didn`t see many of the other members of "the Bash Street Kids" hanging around and/or putting ther hands in their pockets. It`s amazing that on this forum you are either a Hero or a Zero - there never seems to be any middle ground.
  7. You are 12 years old and you have daughters?!! Are you sure that you don`t live in P**tsmouth??
  8. Well we are in a "Poor Mans" league.

    Gundog

If you haven`t got the time now, what are you going to do with him when he is a top gundog?

    Gundog

Two things:- First - what is a "caramel" lab? Yellow? Chocolate? Black? Secondly - why are you sending it away and spending loads of money to train it up? There are plenty of weekly gundog training sessions where you can bond with him and work with him at the same time. Oh.. and Bomber!
  11. Maybe not but at least he did hang around after the sh1t hit the fan and put his hand in his pocket to help save the club. Did any of the other "players" in the tragedy??
  12. I well remember the opening night many years ago. In fact we went to a private Pre-Opening Night party the night before the official opening. It was the first (I think) venture by The Ringwood Brewery into owning and running their own pub, with a micro-brewery downstairs. Was a great pub.
  13. I bet you`re sorry that you asked now!
  14. Fred Dinage was never young.
  15. Don`t forget we had Holmes (Nick) and Watson (Dave) in the same team. Any other "double acts?" C(h)annon and Ball anyone? Pedantry alert!!!!! The Moon is not a planet. (Sorry - I couldn`t help myself)
  16. From todays Mail. Still the big money signings come pouring in! Croatia striker Nikola Kalinic has flown home without completing his £5.5m move to Portsmouth following a row over the transfer fee. Pompey boss Paul Hart wants to sign Kalinic as a replacement for Peter Crouch, and had hoped to take the 21-year-old to Portugal later this week for games against Guimaraes and Benfica. But despite selling £40m worth of players since the turn of the year, Pompey want to stagger the payments over the three years of Kalinic's contract, and his club Hajduk Split are demanding most of the cash up front. Hart, who still plans to sign former Wigan striker Amr Zaki on a year's loan from his Egyptian club El Zamalek, hopes to persuade former Southampton goalkeeper Antti Niemi to come out of retirement as back-up for David James. The 37-year-old Finn, who quit last season after struggling with a wrist injury while at Fulham, said: 'I've talked with Portsmouth, and there is an interest on both sides.'
  17. You`re quite right. I think that it`s David Beckham. Obviously it isn`t as the person concerned is obviously "black" but I guessed DB to show fairness and balance. Oh, and by the way the answer to the question is "Yes". Look at many other threads on this forum.
  18. Watched Shane Meadows film "Somers Town" last night. Really enjoyable little piece of cinema telling the story of a young lad arriving in London after running away from Nottingham and befriending an older, but "innocent" Polish boy. Thomas Turgoose shows what a good little actor he is turning into. Only about 70mins long but well worth a look.
  19. And 3 of the 5 played for Pimpley after leaving us.
  20. I think that Sunderland were a lot of peoples "second team" after that FA Cup win, especially Bob Stokoes antics!
  21. How are the nerves today?? No signing and no transfer gossip either.
  22. Whilst not being overly concerned at the apparent lack of activity on the transfer/coaching staff fronts, with only a week-and-a-half to go before the opening league game, I do find it a bit surprising. I am sure, however, that AP is an experienced manager and knows what he is doing. Doesn't he??
  23. Quite right! Bobby Stokes went to Fartton a year after winning the Cup for us. Did anybody feel disappointed about that and hate him. Players have been transferred between the clubs for as long as I can remember. No big deal really. It`s what they do when they are with us that really counts.
  24. Sadly, I won`t be there this year but it looks like a very good line-up this time. Edward II are playing up a storm since re-forming. A friend of mine, Simon Care, who plays melodeon in EII (as well as The Larkrise Band and lots of others!) says that they have been going down really well where ever they have played. I know that this is the wrong forum for this (apologies in advance!) but this video of Oysterband "morphing" into EII is excellent - even the drummers don`t miss a beat!
