Are you American?

Of course he will. Don`t forget it is all the fans fault.
-
So he should be. He has World Class Skills.

I am hoping that we don`t hear from Mike Wilde ever again!

Too many consortiums for Mr Fry (and us)?

You know this how?? -
Now I quite like Leon Crouch and I quite like Rupert Lowe. But which is best? Only one way to find out.............. THAT would be worth watching!
-
Er... have you checked the date of Exit`s post?

This reminds me of when I was at school in the 60`s. You either liked The Beatles or The Stones - you weren`t expected/allowed to like them both! Well I did like them both and I am able to appreciate what both Bates AND McMenemy did for our club. Perhaps this concept is too difficult to understand. -
I am sure Hans would enjoy that! I have never seen a ghost (as far as I am aware) but I did have a "paranormal" experience a few years ago, so I am very open minded about these things.

I actually agree with him about Ted Bates, but you can appreciate what Lawrie did for the for the club as well. To dismiss what he did as a relegation, (this is a bit like saying The Beatles were crap because "Love Me Do" didn`t get to No. 1), a lucky cup win and signing a few fading stars is at best naive - at worst sheer stupidity. Bates and McMenemy were the two best managers that this club has ever had or ever liable to have. -

We were a Second Division side when we won the Cup (in case you`re not sure). Kevin Keegan (Current European Footballer of the Year), Peter Osgood, Peter Shilton, Dave Watson etc were all fading stars were they. You are either a WUM or have selective memory. -
If he thought that, I would HAVE expected him, as Chairman, to have taken measures to make that outcome less likely. If he genuinely thought that we had our strongest squad ever, then it makes his position as football guru untenable.
-
And Rupert said at the beginning of the relegation season that the squad was the strongest we ever had. Do you think that he really believed that or was he deluding himself?

This is getting ridiculous! Yes we were relegated during his first season but hes then spent 12 years as manager taking us to Wembley three time including the win in 76. He took us to runners up spot in the old First Division and signed players like KK (then European Footballer of the Year) along with countless other household international names and turned us into a team to be reckoned with. But you want to concentrate on his first season. Priceless! I do remember Ted Bates. He was manager when I first started watching Saints in the mid 50`s. He was a great, great man but the best times we had were under McMenemy -
I understand what you are saying but surely the reason that there wasn`t so much on outcry was because in the 70`s the difference between the First and Second Divisions was much less than it is now. Sure teams wanted to be in the top division but was`t perceived as a matter of life and death the way that is now.
-
The situation is very different now. Can you honestly compare the old First Division with the Premiership? The amount of money available now is so much compared with the 70`s that the Prem is seen, rightly or wrongly, as "The Promised Land" - the only place to be.
-
I`ve just heard that longlifesaint is scratching around to put together a consortium to raise the pound.
-
Unfortunate!!?? What an understatement! The relegation is the cause of our current woes. If we had not been relegated - the overspend would not have happened - the gamble to get back to "The Promised Land". As I have said on another thread many people are to blame for our downfall, which began in 2003, but Lowe and Wilde have to take most of the blame. I do blame Lowe for relegation and for installing the Total Football Revolution, which has been a roaring sucess hasn`t it?

I strongly suspect that the administrators are professional and experienced enough to be able to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Perhaps they`re dead!

I think that she indicated that they expected there to be a core of serious bidders. A lot won`t make it to the starting line.

Just caught end of this. She said now 34 enquiries. Had meeting with one serious contender this afternoon. All very positive. Wants deal done sooner rather than later.
