Oddly, I think that Rod Stewart had a spell singing with Southampton band "The Soul Agents" back in the 60`s.
-
They turned up because the Club is on the verge of going out of business after 125 years and there was a groundswell of everyone (by The Echo, and other media etc) being urged to get to SMS and help save the club. Do you think that the next 2 home games will have attendances as big just because Lowe has gone?? For anyone to suggest that 28000 turned just because Rupes is no longer there is naive.
-
Is Motty still active (professionally speaking!)? I thought that he had retired.

Anyone got a link to Babelfish??
-
Whilst there were probably a good few that wouldn`t go while Rupes was in charge, the main reasons for the drop in gates are 1) We are at the bottom of the CCC again, and 2) We have been served up complete and utter dross for the last 2 seasons. Like any other "business" if the "customer" is unhappy with the product, he/she will not buy it, especially at £25-30 a time.

Why, thank you very much.

You are of course quite right, but it doesn`t do any harm to have a bit of light relief in these trying times.

Rupes did say at the end of his interview last week that he didn`t regret coming back and would do it again! This could get to be like "Halloween" or "Scream" where you think that the villain is dead but they turn up again for the sequel!

Heineken Lady Iranian/Isreali Brothers Paul Allen Richard Branson All above have been mentioned (on here)

Quite right and as he fell out with Lowe, it is unlikely that any Souness consortium would include him. I mean Wilde fell out with Lowe and.......Oh!
-
Only one way to find out! FIGHT!!

Also in The Mail from Jamie Redknapp:- SAINTS, BUT NO ANGELS There were 27,228 fans at Southampton, watching Charlton win 3-2. These are desperate times for a good club. Each of those fans would like the answer to this question: What has happened to the money from the sales of Theo Walcott, Kenwyne Jones and Gareth Bale?
-
Presumably none of them in English Language.

Did anyone tell Askham to GO FORTH??

Total slimeball what a wonderful way to sum that slimey leech up. -
FFS!!! Blame the fans again!!, This complete nonsense! If you think that the fans at SMS exert pressure, try St James Park, or Eastlands or Villa Park. Do you think that Lowe did anything because of fan-pressure. He was on a loser before he came back because his record post 2003. I am not going to list them because they have been done to death on here - just like the ridiculous "Blame the Fans For Everything" mantra.

Are you Eric Cantona??

I sit in the Kingsland on the halfway line and all I heard was applause for both Crouch and McMenemy. It certainly wasn`t drowned out by any singing from the Northam. Perhaps because they were all singing, they didn`t hear the reception that these two got. -
Hmmmmm........

Like you I have been supporting the club for 50 years plus, but I have to disagree with you regarding fans expectations. We have always been a club that likes to be the underdog, that tweaks the noses of the big boys now and then. We like to go to games, enjoy our football and come away with a smile on our faces. As far as moving to the next level, this meant to go from being continual relegation fodder to becoming a regular mid-table team with the occaisional appearance in the UEFA Cup - not the next Chelsea or Man U. This was because the increasing injection of money into the PL made it vital that once you were there, you had to stay there or the worst would happen.

I totally agree with you here, but I didn`t find the Crouch/McMenemy thing before the game a problem. Surely they came out to give some form of rallying call after the events of last week as lovers of the Saints, not as points scoring excersises? The crowd re-action would indicate that the vast majority thought so. This is a time when all Saints supporters should pull together for the good of the club, and whilst I don`t particularly want Leon or Lawrie involved with any new regime, good on them for trying to "rally the troops" at a very important time in our clubs history. -

Thanks for the support, but you have me mixed up with someone else. I have been a ST holder since 1975 and started going to the Dell in the mid 50`s:) -

Do you not think that Lowe changing it in the first place was kind of petty? -

But surely, to a degree, the TEAM is the least important part of the equation for any potential investors. Looking longer term anyone that comes in (with enough money) will change the team. The team changes from season to season. Players come and players go. We have the team that we have now because we didn`t have the money to buy a better one! An investor will look at the facilities, the infastructure and the size of the fanbase. He will know that a successful team will activate that fanbase and things will start rolling again.
