Promoting from within in the past has been fatal and totally not needed as we have had the funds to be able to get better in. However this time our budgets would have been agreed with the banks and the fact that JP has stepped down will be like selling a player for 100k. that money will go into the over draft and wotte wont even get a pay rise for the job change. so although its the same story from the club this time I dont think they really have much choice.

Le Tiss said on SSN that Sturrock wasnt forced out by Lowe and Lowe wanted him to stay on but couldnt convince him too. Said he couldn't cope with the pressure of the Prem. Made me think again about a few things.
-
Also I dont think anyone got the best out of anders as he was never played in his best position. For sweden I think he looked awsome playing in the hole so would probably suit our team more now than then. he was no winger thats for sure.

I would take WGS over anyone we have had since he left but kind of see where the OP has gone. Thing that WGS gave us that none other has been able to replicate is a team that works hard for its results. Some of the players were not world beaters but they played above themselves consistantly through hard work and effort that only WGS get out of them. As has already been said not all his signings were his but without blaming him, rupes or anyone else as a club we failed to ship out the dead wood far too many times and we got left with a large squad of average players and no WGS to get them playing above themselves. We basically got found out as managers since can only make good players play good and poor players play poor.

lol never taken offence bud and i hope i havnt offended you or anyone else. we all want good things to happen at SFC but all have different tollerence levels I suppose. I do want pretty much all of what the OP says, just dont see a way of it happening right now. Couldnt give a monkeys if Lowe is a success or not but do care about SFC being a success now or in the future. Lets hope what ever the next chapter is better than the past. peice, love and all nice snuggely things to all. happy birthday to me. x -
surley JP would have to actually lose his job for you to win on that bet? Unless something is happening while I am typing this rubbish he is still our 1st team coach/manager/odd job man?

I can see where VS was coming from but wouldnt put blame on the fans as such. Sure there is plenty we can do to improve this situation but the problems at the club are the route of the lack of supporters. I know my ole man and my bro wont be re-newing there season ticket next year and they wont get another until there is something worth watching at SMS. My dad cant stand rupes and blames him for everything including the cost of petrol a few months back but his main reason for giving up is purly a lack of entertainment. He has bettker things to spend his money on. my bro has a new born and like wise he now has better things to spend his cash on than throwing it away on a team and club that doesnt have the get up and go to fight for its own exsistance. if they cant do it then why should we? A few years ago there would have been no way these season tickets been given up as they are right on the half way line and just in front of the muppets that supposedly run our club. the kind of seats that once lost will never be returned. yet now they will be gone and will probably still be empty for a few years to come. So the club (through its actions) have buggered things up to the point that everyday fans cant be bothered any more. If rupes came out begging and screeming for the fans to come back I still doubt there would be much change, not because rupes is still there but because the team dont have it in them to punish teams, or dig in and become hard to beat. without these qualities its hardly surprising fans cant be bothered any more.

I think we had every chance at the begining of the season and was hoping that we went on a run that new teams often do and kick on from there. I didnt expect us to be world beaters but I didnt expect to be in this much trouble either. That run never came and beating 2 of the top teams in the division boosted the confidence to kick on but was royaly lost when we got beat by naff teams we shouldnt have had to worry about. There is allot of luck involved with that as we have been unlucky with a few decissions and injurys but we have been very lucky in the fact that KD has at least kept some results looking almost respectable. If the management changes it will be like I said earlier and Wotte will step up. Will he drop McGoldrick when he cant be bothered? Will he un-earth any gems that will play for free and change our team into a defensive fortress combined with free flowing attacking football? Because that IMO is what we need. Our goal difference is so bad we need to not only claw some points but we also need to balence our GD as come the end of the season that might save our bacon. So if we manage to get Lowe the boot, along with anyone else at the top that has caused this, the new chairman will have about 5 mins to get rid of JP and Wotte and bring in someone else that can make this team do the business. And do it for no money!!! The bank knows how much cash is set aside for the management team and that is no doubt within budget. Sack JP and Wotte and surly there contract gets paid up? so thart pcart of the budget will be gone. Where does the money to pay for the replacement come from? I said before if there was a couple of mill in the bank I would gree with you and would want the change to happen as soon as poss. but right now i dont see any other way forward.
-
Im not sure you will find good argument to suggest he ever was a good CEO as despite a few success' with SFC the past 10 years has been littered with mistakes. But I still believe what I said before. If Wilde/Crouch/Any of the rest had the faintest idea of how to turn the club around and be popular they would have done it by now and we would all be smiling and Lowe would be no-where to be seen. Likewise if the bank ballence was looking good, the others would want the credit and let the sh1t stick to rupes.
-
I kind of agree with this but without the funds to get someone in that can turn "this" team into a winning team I dont see what change will happen? I accept that Rupes will probably not make a change as this would mean he is admitting he got it wrong but looking at the bigger picture we are probably not in a position to do it anyway. At most JP will step down as 1st team coach and Wotte will step in, whether or not JP stays with us as reserves coach or anything else is debatable but if we are inches away from Admin now then we are miles away from getting a manager in that can have a crack at turning the club round.
-
Couldnt agree more. I think those that actually want Lowe here are in the extreme minority so its in most of our interest to get him gone. but trying to force change now will do nothing to help the club out where its needed now. If there was a couple of mill in the bank then things would be totally different. Lowe is not there because the shareholders think he can work a miricle, he is there because the rest want him to be the fall guy for when all goes t1ts up. So while there is still every chance of it all falling apart he will continue to get the "support" from the other muppets at the club.

I wached some of that game and thought they had it in the bag for a bit. Was thinking that our team should make me feel the way Burnley did. But that hasnt happened since WGS. Just looks like the will to win is gone. Cant all be to do with confidence can it? Well done Burnley though nd gutted that they didnt dump ole saggy chops out of the cup. Think Bunley had 90% of the saints fans cheering them on for a while.
-
They both left us too early, Should have stayed and became total football world beaters like the rest of our acadamy
-
sounds all very feasable but some of the comments jumping on the band wagon of how Lowe has buggered the club again are a bit funny. Half of the last 6 months have had many of us going on about boycotts in an attempt to get us into administration to get rid of lowe. the day we do go into admin (if at all ) will be a very sad day indeed but I hope that we can find a way out of it and stronger for it. Maybe the meeting on Monday was used to tell the players how it is? Maybe it will help? Even if they play better for a transfer we may yet see a couple of wins before the team is dismantled. The positive in me still thinks that although this rumour seems pretty certain I still think its more likly to be what some other have suggested and that a deadline to decide has been set, which means if the team can pull one out of the bag there may still be a chance of avoiding admin. Heres hoping anyway.
-
would you accept administration if it meant Lowe left?
saintjay77 replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
If it was a dead cert that administration would get rid of the lot of them and bring in someone new that could give us anything better than what we have then I would say yes. If anyone can garentee that then I will be amazed so in reality I still want to aviod admin at all costs. -
But all your assumptions are based on us having enough money/backing to pay off JP and get someone else in. In an ideal world I would totally agree with you. If the money is there to get the likes of Hoddle in then why the hell are we not doing it? And you said it yourself the team needs something more although I do agree and think we could get more out of the current players with a different manager so maybe I was being harsh on the players. but we have known from the start that we need to strenghten in certain area's and there has been an attempt to do so in defence. I just think that any decission from now on with be firmly based on the cheapest option in the short term. The banks wont be looking long term so the club cant either. TBH I cant see many ways out of this mess now. Either the players on the pitch perform and get results or we sink to the bottom of the leagues. There doesnt seem to be any other options out there.
-
I dont think the board need reminding as I think they are hiding behind Lowe. They have put him there for a reason IMO and I think that is because they know which direction the club is going and they would rather Lowe be the figure head that we can hate while we fall to peices. if by chance he pulls a rabbit out of the hat and we get better and head in the other direction it will take all of 5 mins for the cowards in the background to stand up and force Lowe out again. What good this will do the club is beyond me so we are still stuck looking for a white knight to ride in and clear the lot out.
-
Blimey I actually agree with you 100%!!! I know i dont always disagree with you but on this occasion I think 1 of us might be possessed! I want Lowe to succedd because that means the club is succeeding. I wanted Wilde and Crouch to succeed too for the same reason. Over all I think Lowe is a royal pain in the arse with wrong decissions bing made at the wrong times. More division and unrest will be at our club while he is here and for those reasons I want him gone. Not as much for the other two but enough to want them out of the picture also. But on the whole I still want the team to win matches and to be pushing for the top of the table and not the bottom.
-
its very hard to put sarcasm into text on a forum sometimes. lol. personally I would have benched him weeks and weeks ago and let him sulk but i suppose JP thinks his support will eventually get repayed with some effort and a few goals.
-
but if he did bin jan yesterday how long do you think it would take to get a new guy in? one that is better than what we have? one that will work for peanuts with monkeys? one that can magically get in players for no cost in the final few days of the window? Its been said many times on here already that the probable replacement will be Mark Wotte so there will probably be not much change other than more cash out of the door for JP's pay off. If what you want is relegation and administration in an attempt to get rid of Lowe and Co nd JP and Co so we can all start again with someone new who will do exactly what the fans want every 5 mins, why are you bothered that Lowe has done nothing to change the enevitable situation?
-
being the clubs top scorer when only working at 30% of capacity he probably feels he is already doing more than most so why bother to do more? its not like he will get dropped is it?
-
I dont like billy davies much either but he has proven to get results and thats something we are clearly lacking ATM. Can we realy believe that we can afford the likes of BD though?
