I didn't suggest doom and gloom and it may come off however it is not progress and the chances of succeeding with a new team put together in haste are not that high as we have lost good players commitment and team spirit all difficult to replace no matter how much we spend Also money dosen't guarantee good players unless you can afford to ignore your mistakes and keep spending I cite Carrol Torres and even Osvaldo! As I Saints supporter since 1970 I have seen many ups and downs including much success in the face of adversity and of course I will be fully behind any team we put out but my point remains what is going on cannot be described as progress by the board.

So I look forward to the fraud case in court as if anyone spent my millions I had not sanctioned I would sue the ass of them!

I would bet as a banker all spend was fully sanctioned once the estate was out of probate however it was the fact that demands for future (unspent) funds were not sanctioned that led to him departing as he could see the consequences we are all now seeing! It is clear that we went into this world cup with 7 players (if you include Lambert) how many will still be Saints players come mid August. that by any bodies account cannot be called progress and I am pretty sure there is no other club in the world that will have lost as many WC players as Saints come the new season We are left with a good manager new to the PL a skeleton of a team and a few talented youngsters 6 weeks before we kick off As we all know money does not Guarantee loyalty, team spirit, commitment or indeed success (unless there is a totally unlimited supply ala Chelski and Manc) Yes we may succeed with a new manager and team but the chances of that are much reduced given all of the above however you look at it whether through rosy spectacles or without!

What was the price of the club that ML paid and what was its price and the price of the players when NC left. If the Delta was greater than the money he spent (and their is no reason to think it wasn't) then NC actually created wealth for KL and did not squander it! As I said before the only difference between them was when to cash in the chips! NC felt the value could increase further with more spend KL wasn't convinced! That led to disappointment and broken promises to the manager and players and that is the principal reason we are now where we are!

If claims of the board being so clueless are true they probably think they are signing Pele and he certainly would have been big enough to overshadow the fire sale! I seem to recollect we did sign a Pele before too and he didn't live up to expectations! hope this one does!

There are constant quotes about NC frittering away others money but all seem to forget that the value of the club was always increasing at a greater rate than the money invested! i.e. the money is in the asset (like buying a house) The only difference between NC and KL was exactly when to cash in and sell off

It doesn't matter what we get for players leaving! The thing is that replacing them at whatever price is a lottery! Money doesn't buy success unless you have so much of it you can afford countless mistakes!

Good post Money doesn't ensure we get good players commitment or a bonded team (just look at the Osvaldo experiment) By losing our academy successes, and key players who rose from league 1 we are losing the heart of our team I hope Koeman can put an alternative together that works however the risks we are taking are large!

Exactly! he has a well paid job and money to create a team. Well paid if he fails and move on to a better job if he succeeds! Simply succeeding with the existing team would not be his own! Good deal for him! time will tell if it is good for Saints

A measure of how far we have sunk in such a short time in that many fans have no confidence this board is able to hold on to any of our players at the moment despite their public statements and that they either apparently failed to realise or worse didn't care that once the ambition that held this team and manager together was seen to have gone there would be a predictable rush to go resulting in the team breaking up!
