It would certainly be a more persuasive and original business theory. Jonesy could write a companion text - Glue: The Secret of Pan European Fitness...

That could be a lovely Boxing Day present, warm the crowd up.

Look on the bright side, that's two Candy Crush subscriptions that the club doesn't have to pay for.

Really solid pedigree Calderwood, and by all accounts a good bloke, fair play to Russell Martin in terms of judgement. Looks like we have round pegs in round holes on the coaching staff for the first time in years.

Great shout at £4-5m.

Couldn’t hear from my end, assumed it was Swansea related.

Nathan Jones was a prolific sperm donor at Spunkulike Cardiff in the early 2000s.

Yes, this looks highly likely, whether Adams goes or not. Wonder if they’ll try for Brereton-Diaz on loan - him and Adam Armstrong could be an interesting pairing for SFC.

Just seen the video of our manager at the final whistle yesterday. Goading the Cardiff fans by holding up four fingers is not likely to endear Saints to the wider football community. Particularly when the post match trains to Wales were cancelled and it was below zero. Imagine how it felt on the journey back to the ‘land of my fathers’. I know Buddhism includes karma but this is stretching it. Very well played Russell Martin, we’ve needed this for years! COYR!

And it seems to me you lived your life Like a Watford in the wind Never knowing who to cling to When the Saints steamed in… 2 - 0 another convincing win and an extra glossy chestnut mousse for Russ, because he’s worth it. Bollocks to Elton!

They’re too busy with the Right Said Fred tribute act these days - Hey Dougie!

Great stuff, would only be improved if Natty J was their manager!

I have a gut feeling it’s going to be us and Leeds vying for second at the business end of the season. Hope so as I don’t think a playoff tussle will do my blood pressure much good. It would be lovely to see Leicester and Ipswich dropping some points over Christmas.

A few beers thawing out in the pub after that one. That was the most complete performance under Martin by far, and should easily been five or six nil, genuinely. Played them off the park, Armstrong deserved a hatrick and Fraser should have had one. Extra marks for Bazunu for his kamikaze diving header clearance which threw their forward completely and Downes who should get an obe for services to recycling. Also the Saints fans did well today cheering on through the freezing fog, fuck me it was chilly. Impressive, improving Saints, keep it up and someone is going to get tonked!

Most of the Russ 'abuse' has been hair based to be honest, with Nathan Jones it was dental.

Has he been using all the free time to study accountancy?

Good post. There have probably been two halves of football this season where we've genuinely dominated / shut out the opposition, it's good news that one of these was against Leeds as it suggests that this developmental goal is attainable. As you say Martin is clearly aware of this and it's now about scoring goals, the old cliche of 'goals change games' is a cliche because it's true - if Stewart isn't firing by January the Serbian chequebook will need to come out. Fan frustration currently is that we can see that our beloved club is very close to being consistently competitive, for first time in years.

Not wishing to be a negative Nelly, but I think that this is rather premature right now despite our solid recent form - if we were in Leicester's position things would be slightly different but still a moot point. Rather like us considering how much money wins us the Champions League when Ralph had his purple patch. Our best hope of promotion of course is to keep ticking along and catch Ipswich as not sure that this squad has the minerals to win a play off final. I think come the end of January we are going to have a much better idea. Another point is our somewhat unusual situation with the relative youth and clear potential of our squad, it might be that we keep KWP beyond January, Alcaraz and Sulemana have a happy new year, blossom, and tear this league a new one, Harwood-Bellis and Downes decide they like it by the seaside, our Man City YTS scheme kicks in / on, and we have a fit and committed centre forward on the pitch most weeks. If all that happens Dragan will likely have plenty of loot from the summer bonanza to fill in the gaps.
