Wish we had a few potential future Cranks in this current shower…

Most gifted British footballer of his generation and a bona fide genuis. Under Bally he was sublime. Le God.

Hurty words / scar tissue?
-
They might as well get Wayne Sleep to do the choreography! He could also double for Frazer on the wing.
-
xg or old skool probability? I had already anticipated that ‘others of a more balanced disposition’ might be representing our otherwise stupid and entitled fanbase at this key event. Top idea, but maybe insist the players, Russ and coaches visit every corner flag on their weekly walk of victory / shame. I’d buy an extra sausage roll and stay behind for that.

Those six words there could be utilised as Sport Republic’s mission statement.

They don’t, apart from three Nobel laureates in the SFC boardroom, those they pay to be interested and half a dozen groupies on here.

Beginning to panic, propaganda football and propaganda public relations.

We were a well established Premier League side whose idiot and inexperienced Board decided to replace Hassenhutl (second placed finish with RBL, followed by Nagelsmann at that club) with the unknown Luton Town manager who appeared to be sectionable under the MHA (SFC 35% win). They then decided to replace said nutter after spending a fortune in the January transfer window with a coach who had been at the club six months and previously only managed in Spanish youth football (11% win). After relegation and promises of an immediate promotion bid, they decided the best man for the job was the water-treading Swansea manager whose entire record suggested a ceiling of mid-table mediocrity - the nice version of Natty J, but with an inferior CV as a manager. ‘Chased out’ = realisation of incompetence.

And there’s the crux DM, we won’t retain our remaining ‘star players’ next season (Alcaraz, Suley, KWP), so diminishing returns unless we then recruit a charismatic manager who gets the rest playing out of their skins. Rare as rocking horse shit.

I’m not even sure we will be that close. Also think a high chance SR will stick with Martin for next season, even if we finish mid table this time around - all the just three points away from this and two wins away from that nonsense will come into play. There are similarities to the Lowe relegation in terms of naivety lurking behind arrogance.
-
I think so. In terms of natural talent the best British footballer of his generation in my view. Incredible to think we had him at Southampton.
-
Threat from the bench!
-
Adams looked great, best combative form for years, right up until the transfer window closed. Reversion since. We are so desperate for a focal point and natural finisher and Stewart can’t come in quick enough now. Hopefully Martin opts for the diamond used against Leeds with RS at the tip. Be interesting to see if both Adams and Mara make the subs bench at that point.

I think that this is close to it in terms of expectation for many. We’ve had a few keepers who could look absolutely world class followed by brain fart, Ivan Katalinic had that and dropped by McMenemy but remained a fan favourite, Burridge too. I think our best keeper since Neimi was Artur Boruc, a complete eccentric and capable of serious keystone cops - remember Arsenal when is managed a fuck up and world class performance in the same game - the Artur show! In many ways Boruc was the polar opposite of Bazunu, picked up easily for relative peanuts, genuinely physically imposing, brave and commanding in the 18 yard box, aggressive in organisation and capable shot stopper. In the minus column mad as a box of frogs and low resale value, but who would you prefer in goal now? Considering the shithouse Vardy through on a one on one who would he prefer?

Almost beginning to miss the frothing lunatic, almost. 😀
-
This, he needs to be given time. Also scapegoat etc.
-
Koemansaurus, paleo-Saints 😀 I’d settle for Frankie Howard or Johnny fucking Wilkinson, at least he’d sort out the shooting!
-
This one: Tigers 2 Turkeys 1. Extra marks for stunning and brave. Fault squarely with the ingrate supporters who made the 300 mile journey.
-
Intelligent coaches outside the mega-franchises pick and set up the side based on its strengths, and players based on form. That system seems to work.

After last season’s Sport Republic car crash a lot of Saints fans bought season tickets in the expectation and hope that we would mount a determined promotion bid. There was a good chance that we would see exciting attacking football and strong positive style at SMS for the first time in a long time. A repeat of 2011-2012 in style and substance. Crop circle Russball is not proving successful. The likes of Arsenal and Man City play possession football because it works if you have a team of £50-100m ball players front to back capable of passing other teams to death. Maybe Wilcox and Martin thought that post relegation we would have that much more quality in the Champs than the opposition that it would tell, this is naivety, arrogance and error. So far teams have taken points from Saints in various ways, bombarding our goalkeeper, hitting us on the counter with pace, harassing, bullying, and being first to the loose balls, or by just being patient and sitting back waiting for the inevitable chance. We are so predictable and that is why we will fail in terms of Sport Republic’s stated target this year. Stick with this style and wait to see the substantial hit in season ticket sales next summer, at least it will mean several thousand less saints fans for the manager and his loanees to whine about.

Exactly the same with those around me, you could feel the slow ponderous build up to the sucker punch. If we are serious about creating momentum towards a promotion bid you can’t drop points to Rotherham at home. The board, manager and players must know this regardless of their positive spin and blame game in the media.
-
Think that this is a key point. Russ and Jase think Baz is the best in the league but not sure many managers would swap their current number one for ours. Given that we had 22 shots on Saturday and GB let’s in around one goal for every two shots a conservative estimate against Rotherham with Baz in goal would have been 10-0. Just the boost that was needed into the international break! 😀
-
In the ground on Saturday as far as I could see and perceive the fans backed this dysfunctional ‘team’ until the final whistle. Deflated after their soft goal but you could see it coming all second half. There was no urgency or desire, no drive, to get the winner from the players. When the ref blew people were already on their feet flooding for the exits, the ‘boos’ which apparently upset Russ and Flynn were reactive as our supporters left the ground, it was fuck all.
-
Just think, had we signed Piroe his goal every two games might have offset Baz’s goal every two shots putting us comfortably in mid-table 😀
