  1. Failing that an IQ test...
  2. Nice to see Russ sporting an Arthur Fonzerelli hairstyle to build team unity - a watershed moment for SFC and L'Oreal.
  3. Force of personality, results and thus gravitas Alex, very rare.
  4. Agree with this about Fergie, he had time of course but that enabled him to build a winning culture from the foundations up - focus on the best young players and buy in experienced pros who had the character to fit it. Rather like McMenemy in the glory days he also has the nous and strength of character to gamble with hot heads now and again, if he felt they would do it for the club. It was all about Man Utd, the situation with Beckham epitomises that. Doubt that this could happen at a top club these days - player power is everything.
  5. All of them will get fuck all at Milton Manor!

Like many Americans if George had to put a pin in a world map to tag Palestine for a million dollars he'd likely be ten thousand miles away, even if the map was labelled. My guess is that middle Eastern politics wasn't too high on his socio-political agenda. Using the man as a figurehead in this way is meaningless beyond a victimisation dog whistle for the hard of thinking.
  7. I wondered if it was when he was at Villa, what with Blackmore being a Villa fan.
  8. This is Mama in the church, could be a long hunger strike. Pucker up!
  9. If they did, they'd need sectioning! Natan el Jones territory.
  10. From what I know of him he'll certainly offer a different approach to Russell, less tofu and aromatic back rub, more Irn Bru and a kick up the jacksy. Recall he was Houghton's assistant when Newcastle got promoted in 2010.
  11. Colin Calderwood has been announced as Saints new first team coach. Good top flight career and a decent player in his day - interesting appointment. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/23887825.former-tottenham-defender-joins-southamptons-backroom-staff/
  12. Don't see that in his character or CV at all to be honest, and currently we should perhaps cross that bridge when we come to it. J M Wilcox has stated that his ambition is for Saints to consolidate in the top ten of the Premier League and currently he's backing Martin to do it. Should Russ get us there and wants to swap us for Real Madrid, then fair play, we probably get to relive the Graham Potter fetish.
  13. Enjoying seeing my side win games, but the stated target of the Board this year was promotion, so that’s what this momentum needs to build towards. Miss that and next season will be a struggle as others have said. When Sport Republic took over from Gao in January 2022 we were around twelfth place ten points clear of the bottom three, an established premier league side, albeit one in decline. If they get us back to that they will have trodden water. Better than that over a season, which is Wilcox stated ambition (top ten), and we will be likely be enjoying supporting SFC in the top flight again.
  14. You’d like to think he’s been refining his skills during his time off. Basically he’s coming back into the game as the Bill Shankly of the valleys.
  15. Good summary, my overview too. Starting to see some genuine understanding in terms of partnerships (eg Bednarek and THB) and also what looks like team spirit, Ryan Fraser’s cameos epitomise this. If we keep this momentum until Stewart is fit things could get interesting. I also think if we are well positioned come December we might get some reinforcement in the January window. Ups and downs but much more fun than the shite we endured in the Prem last year!
  16. Looks like what he is, a proper solid defensive full back at this level. He gives the defence better balance in my view, and things seem less frenetic. Good luck to the lad.
  17. He certainly upped the work rate second half and that charge across the pitch to defend was great. First half thought he looked completely out of sorts and a yard behind everything.
  18. Agree, much more assured and THB and him are building a decent understanding.
  19. We should have won that 4-1 today at least, and it would have been deserved. Best I’ve seen from a Martin side first half, and made Brum look second best at everything. Start of second half some concern we had reverted to type with a bit of slack / hospital passing and loose tracking and marking. Once we got the third we were well in control and should have got that fourth goal at the death. KWP was nailed on mom for me and looks such different class it’s striking. Downes too, every inch the premier league player and not one misplaced pass. Honourable mentions to Bednarek and Bree. Bree is a much better full back than Manning. Thought that Adam Armstrong looked most off the pace and a bit of a spare part in the middle. If we can keep momentum and stay in form a fit Ross Stewart may have a field day, a target man is the one puzzle piece we are clearly lacking.
  20. This is unfair. Clearly on for his first century 💯
  21. By 2026 the scar tissue will be but a reminder of adventures past.
  22. In a matter of days we’ve proved that we can win ugly, and then draw hideously away from home. Looking forward to an overdue ravishing win at home on Saturday. The seven points from niners!
  23. BBC as on point as ever. Adam Armstrong our 4ft 6ins colossus at centre back 😀
  24. Word!
  25. They're making a list, checking it twice...
