  1. My grandparents were both from Liverpool and kept their scouse accents all their lives. My cousins and I were all born and bred in Southampton, but one cousin, who now lives on Merseyside, has now got a very strong Liverpool accent. My dad, born in Bishop's Waltham and living all his life on the east side of Southampton had a strong Hampshire accent as does my brother now (he's always lived on the east side). I don't really have an accent but then I've moved around a fair bit. My children were all raised in Buckinghamshire but only the youngest has a 'Bucks' accent. So I don't know the answer.
  2. I think a lot of it is political posturing on both sides. Both countries' leaders are facing anxieties about their respective country's economic plight. What better way to deflect the discontent than manufacturing and upping the ante? It would appear that the Argentinians themselves don't give a stuff about it. FWIW, I believe that the Islanders have the right to determine their own status. By the same token, I would support any campaign by Jamaicans, Australians etc. to determine their own status too.
  3. No, surely not! That would be hypocritical.
  4. My 3 year old grandson is obsessed by this game. Any use?
  5. With all due respect, Phil, that looks as if someone has puked all over it!

  8. Tesco's hot cross buns are dire IMO. Very, very dense with far too much spice in them.
  9. I think, Pap, that union members can already opt out of the political levy. I thought the proposal was that union members should opt in instead?
  10. Membership of NHS Trusts is the norm and encouraged. Here's an example: http://www.northdevonhealth.nhs.uk/ft/why-be-a-member/ So don't knock him for taking an interest and doing something constructive.
  11. Only Mrs T could answer that with any degree of certainty
  12. Moat aside, how would you know if your surveyor hadn't told you? Sometimes, Trousers, your pedantry ill serves you.
  13. If the Risk Register were to be published, then those at the coalface, so to speak, could pre-empt the risks, couldn't they. (That's a rhetorical question BTW). Since you like analogies, if your house had an underground river running along the bottom of the garden, you'd like to know that there was a risk it would flood, wouldn't you? Or would you rather your surveyor kept quiet about it?

  15. We can all see why Cameron refused to publish the risk register in spite of a ruling by the Information Commissioner. Any public sector project has to include a risk assessment and register, why not this major 'reform'. I can't find it now, but I have recently seen a list of members of both Houses of Parliament, showing their links to companies with interests in the healthcare business. Another example of Dave and George looking after their own?
  16. Don't have a heart attack or traffic accident seems to be the main message! http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/mar/27/health-reforms-damage-nhs-risk-register/
  17. I would be very interested to know how many large construction developers / companies have been to one of those dinners.
  18. That bit annoyed me too, at first. But, once I'd re-read it, I realised that it was ambiguous and wasn't actually implying that we hadn't cleared our debts. However, in order to distance ourselves from the cheating going on down the road, I think the club should ask the Daily Heil to print a clarification.
  19. Blackpool have got one back
  20. No don't! Mr TF always looks worried when I'm F5ing bouncy plastic balls on matchdays
  21. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-17499332 I'm saying nothing
  22. Well, I may not be a 'gent', but I've liked nonetheless
  23. Good work that man! I see AndyStuff snuck in a salient comment too
  24. Financial analyst saying there isn't one.
