It's a well known fact that Andover is a Southampton town. Full of well dressed, game lads.
-
Will try and find that survey in a bit.
-
Davis has started kicking long a bit more recently. I prefer it when we mix that up a bit.
-
Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great player. His off the ball movement is class and he has a great touch. Just thought he was a bit weak and got bullied a bit until the sending off, when he started finding a lot more space.
-
I remember a while back when we were in the Premiership that a survey was conducted amongst ST holders from all Prem teams about the distance they travelled for games and our average came out as one of the highest.
-
I didn't think he was that great on Saturday. Didn't hold the ball up and was shoved off the ball like he was a small child most of the time. Important goal from him though so can't grumble too much.
-
Plenty of chatter from Adkins about it as well.
-
Strange that we're being a bit more open about our transfer targets this window. Any dealings are normally done in total secrecy.
-
Exactly this. After the sending off Lallana had a lot more room which really helped us going forward and you could see that Forest quite literally gave up and just wanted to get off that pitch. They were very, very poor in the 2nd half and as a few people have already said, it would've probably been 5 or 6 had Lambert been playing. Whether you like it or not, he is absolutely key to our title/promotions chances.

Why Saints fans got arrested against Brighton.

Spot on. The streets are a safer place now. I might even start leaving my door unlocked at night now these hardened, vicious criminals have been taught a lesson. -
The rate we're going, he should be all signed up by this evening then.
-
Let's hope so, I bottled it in the end and went with the draw... ha.

A proven, prolific striker is EXACTLY what we need, it's by far the most important part of the team that needs strengthening. I was saying it all summer and have been saying it all season. Watching us at Doncaster without Lambert was quite frankly pathetic.
-
Well we're not going to get many more better chances than this. The first half of the season we were running on momentum and carried on from where we left off in L1. That's dried up now and we need to strengthen, there is no reason we can't maintain our push for automatic promotion but a few new faces is needed to ensure that.
-
He's been injured this season, I believe and Celtic also had an atrocious start to the season. He is a quality player though and a natural goalscorer. I also believe he would be a perfect strike partner for Lambert. Don't get me wrong, the standard of Scottish football these days is awful. But there are a couple of players up there who would have the ability to do it down here IMO and that's Hooper and Jelavic from Rangers.

Obviously none of us are privy to our exact financial position. I'm purely basing my assumptions on what Cortese has previously said about his ambitions for the club. The fact is, his ambitions can't be achieved without splashing a bit of cash every now and then. It's just the way the game works these days and anyone who thinks otherwise is a deluded fool. I don't want him to go and spend silly money but spending £4-6m on a striker to try and take full advantage of our current league position is a bit of a no-brainer, IMO.
-
He did a big interview in The Sun about bringing Champions League football to St Mary's, so if that's his ambitions, then yes, I do think £6m is a small amount, in fact I would class it as a minuscule amount if CL football is what he's aiming for. Just want to clarify, I'm not for one minute thinking we should spend £100m to try and get CL football. The claims he made in the press about CL football was embarrassing and totally unrealistic. We're a million miles away from that standard. The physio we got from little ol' S****horpe seems to be doing alright for us, so I don't really see what relevance Hoopers past has...
-
I really don't fancy our chances tomorrow. Might stick £20 on Forest to win, that way I'm a winner no matter what happens.
-
That the same Adebayor that misses about 5 sitters before he scores? Lallana is nowhere near good enough for the Spurs squad. In fact the way he's been playing recently, he's lucky he's still getting a start in our team!
-
Then if we're not willing to stump a £6m fee for a player (a small amount in todays game) then how does Cortese intend on getting us Champion's League football in the next 5 years or so? Gambling now on promotion is a bit different to when we gambled at the beginning of the season when we made the play-offs last time. We are top of the league and have been all season. Though it's clear for all to see that we need another top quality striker and a couple more players. This isn't the kind of league where we can just try our best this season and go again next season. It's a tough, tough league to get out of and we need to take full advantage of our current position and not let it slip away.
-
We have the money from AOC sale and Cortese keeps banging on about us playing in the Champions League, if you go around making outrageous claims like that, surely he must have the money to back it up?!
-
The new bird cracking the whip already...?
-
I was literally about to ask that as well. Do enlighten us...

Really looking forward to this one, though I just can't see us even getting a point unless we bring in a decent striker before Saturday.
