I think you make a very valid point and I certainly don't blame any of them for moving on if they perceive it as bettering themselves. I don't think any of the 5 has yet succeeded in bettering their Saints form but I certainly don't bear a grudge for them trying.

I'm surprised Utd haven't entered the fray with Alves signing a new deal at Barca. If Clyne went to Old Trafford, the Scousers would have to accept he'd joined a side bigger than them.

Elia is an inconsistent wideman made more inconsistent by being picked to start inconsistently. For a small fee, I'd be happy for him to sign permanently as he's shown flashes of ability and European football does need a bigger squad with more options.

If he goes, he goes. And if the club feel they got an acceptable fee, so be it. As long as we have someone to challenge Cedric (either recruited or promoted from within the club), this is just part of the football business. Days of player loyalty are mainly gone & as long as we have a good, competitive team, I'll be happy whoever is in it. The intriguing part for me is whether Le Goddard knows something or is being mischievous. I'd certainly be happy to see Rickie back if it keeps Pellè on his game.
