Saints 2-0 Man City - The Treble is STILL on!
woodsaint1 replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
They play late tomorrow and then early ko on Saturday for the Manc derby, so they will be running the changes. That being said their second side would beat us anyways. Cant see us scoring more than them but I'm holding out hope for a win on pens -
Shite result regardless
-
Wrexham away next round please
-
I know they rested a few but thats a terrible result for Forest. Back to getting pumped away from home again. If only we had've tried to take the game to them 🙃
-
He looks decent, but nobody is paying €30m. Think they would probably take €22m plus add ons but even that is steep. Reckon we could get Beto for cheaper and he looks as good, if not better

Good to get a win to build some confidence, albeit it was gift wrapped to us (just like we've been doing in the league). City is a free hit during the week, but Everton away is huge. Terrible record there, but its a 6 pointer and they're feeling the pressure too. We simply must get something. Another defeat and we're giving ourselves an insurmountable task, regardless of who we bring in (players or manager)

We'll find out in a matter of hours 🤦🏽♂️

May be a blessing and force us to abandon the 3 CBs for the forthcoming games, because he cant start Lyanco again after his recent calamities....surely not

https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/19631770.jason-wilcox-newcastle-owners-poach-man-city-man-takeover/ Newcastle were linked with Wilcox around the time of their takeover so he has defintely been a wanted man

Looks like we're giving him the reigns for many depts 😨

Looking like a bad ankle injury for Iwobi. Been one of Everton's better players this season
-
Point 1 maybe, point 2 definitely not. Players will put it down to a bad season, bad management, anything but blame their own effort/performances. What do you think they pay agents silly money for? They'll get their move if they really want it
-
Further explains why most of them dont give a fuck. They'll get their move away in the summer

That is very damning, even Adam was laying the boot in. Hard to argue against any of the points made. I fully agree with the levels argument, and again its nothing against Jones as it was a fantastic opportunity for him, but hes probably beginning to realise that this job is beyond his capabilities. Problem also is that the players will be alive to social media and the negative perceptions of the manager already. Doswell rightly criticised the lack of identity and structure under Jones but I didnt like him laying into the training clip. Every manager has his style/preference on how he communicates. Yes it may have looked very basic but everybody can see/hear that our talking on the pitch is non existent at times, so nothing wrong with Jones trying to emphasise that. It is obviously different to what Doswell does on the training ground, but Jones has been successful at a higher level, so its obviously worked in the past for him. One thing is for sure....Doswell definitely posts on here 😂

Give it a few weeks and we could get Potter

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed it which is as good as gospel

Could understand us employing 3 CBs if they were lacking in pace and we were needing a lower lying one to cover the runs in behind. But ABK and Salisu are fairly rapid, and DCC doesnt look like a slouch either. Would rather we went with a 4-2-3-1 with a bit more protection in front of the CBs. Did Jones not play that formation at Luton? I just dont get the 3 CBs - its not working and needs ditched (except for certain games which may require it)
-
I doubt we've signed him purely based on his WC goal. He would have been scouted for a period. You could argue that players will be in their prime at 29/30/31
-
I wasnt no, but I watched the game and it sounded very subdued. Regardless, our watery fanbase arent storming the pitch or walking out of the ground any time soon.

Remember some fans last season creaming themselves when Lyanco was trying to lob it over opposition players on the edge of his own box (cant remember the game, think it was in the cup though). To me that was an alarming sign. Yes you may be Brazilian (or half-Brazilian or whatever) but stick to whats expected of you - defending first. You dont see the likes of Thiago Silva or Marquinhos attempting this shit. Takes stupid risks when he doesnt need to and mostly gets caught in dangerous positions. He's also a liability in the tackle and in the air - surprised he hasnt been sent off as yet. For all the criticism of Bednarek (which has included me quite often), he doesnt take stupid risks and sticks to the basics, albeit the backwards/sidewards passes have been frustrating. I'm hoping we go out and buy another CB, but if we arent able to then we could do much worse than replacing Lyanco with Bednarek.

Our fans could barely muster a boo at the end and you're expecting a protest 😂.
-
At least hes acknowledged that hes to blame and is taking responsibility

Just stop it, honestly. 90th out of 92 teams in 2022, 99% of which was Ralph's doing. 4 wins in 40 or whatever it was, the freefall last season where some of the performances were abysmal (Villa/Brentford away) and we were lucky the season wasnt two games more or it was relegation. You dont know that Ralph would have got any points in the last three games, thats just your opinion. Jones is looking like he isnt the answer, but to claim that sacking Ralph was a poor call is just nonsense. He deserved to be sacked and should have went in the summer
-
Fucking hell. Cant help but draw comparisons to that useless prick who took over as Director in 'Sunderland til I die' and used that same song to "hype' the fans. We're on the same tragic pathway
-
Remember the optimism exactly one year ago. While there was always the risk of regression in a competitive league like the PL, never did I think it would get this bad. I also cant see how it improves in the short term. I'm sure the agents of Orsic, Moffi, Alcaraz and whoever else we're looking at will be strongly advising their clients against a move to us as it is 95% certain they will be playing in a lower league next year
