Having just beaten one of the best possession teams around, it'll be interesting to see Wilcox chuck all that to become a pale imitation of the beaten team's philosophy.

IIRC Hasenhuttl felt that once Tella had got himself into the side, something dropped off (ouch) in training. Tella had a few stop/starts like that, and that was it. More attitude than lack of talent, although Ralph would see one impacting the other. We certainly missed his ability, even after those opening games. We never really replaced him and lost that direct shooting from distance. Really pleased to see him doing so well. Champions League for him next year.

I was wondering if Martin would be a shout out for the England job after the Euros. A blistering attacking line up of Foden, Kane, Saka, Bellingham... ... just waiting for it to be shuttled across the defence one more time before getting passed across the midfield as well... 🙂

Like the others, the conflict is how to answer the question without incriminating themselves. They have all been well briefed, not just for this inquiry, but across the years of holding the line against scrutiny. Had any one of them had a genuine conflict regarding truth, the victims wouldn't be where they are today. And, if any of them had genuine conflicts, being in careers where cover ups are operationally normal practice would be untenable. She can profess to have any beliefs she likes. But they've had no bearing on any of her actions. Like the others, guilt is just a show to put on when they've been forced to appear in public.

Private Eye, amongst others have shown us exactly what she knew, when she knew it and the lengths she and they went to in order to cover up the persecution and prosecution of postmasters. One snippet showed some canvassing done ahead of her accepting a CBE. Lots of fawning from others familiar to the enquiry. One person outlined that it was a disgrace, and she should not accept it, as one day she would be found out, and have to return it. That view point was dismissed as a minority one, by the fawners. No chance she will own up to the extent of her involvement.

I think our period of mourning his departure, will last at least until the first anniversary.

The long contracts they gave as many of their new players to spread costs, selling Gallagher, loan fees and sales from their player farm will go a long way to balancecthat. Poch always used to say it would take a while for his ideas to sink in, and for him the change a club's direction. Multiply that with the nonsense going on at Chelsea, and that could well have been things turning round. But it looks as though all parties had enough by that stage.

From the few sound bites I'd heard from Poch, it sounded as though he saw it coming. Also that he'd gone through some internal discussions, and wasn't going to be that upset if it did.

I reckon that switch to 3 at the back took some by surprise, not least Leeds. Our "guess cap'n shoehorn's position this week" posts offer another example. And to be fair to Russ, he's being making some changes within his preferred set up, even if needed by available personnel. 🙂

Meh! I was asked this morning if I was going to be watching any of the Big Day of football. I blinked. Couldn't have cared less, and back out into the garden. Title being fought out between state owned sportswashers, fighting 100+ rules breaches against Super League sign ups, Paul Davis employers and recently backed by a crooked oligarch. All under VAR and endless hyperbole. No ta.

One Clinton speech stays in my mind, when she was outlining the future of her country. She spoke of bespoke industries, using the highly educated to exploit niches in markets and technology. It stays in my mind as it was clearly ignoring a large number of voters. Her country had to exploit gaps to succeed. Not long afterwards Trump came out reminding his target audience how powerful their country was, that they hadn't been forgotten, and that he'd work to remove the corruption and elitism that was excluding their views. After the outcome, what surprised me were the Democratic soundbites demonising all of the opposition, for that outcome. There must have been some who thought that if they had managed to pick anyone not mired in corruption, elitism and maintainng a class of utter troughers, who could plan without ignoring existing workers, they would be winning any election. Sadly, that doesn't seem to have entered any decision making minds in their party.

Why would we want to give away our secrets on a public forum? It wasn't that long ago, our chat of "injuries" at set times, got it's way into the press. That's why we set up the invite only tactics sub forum, after all.

I could see a scenario where we don't go up, Brighton want Martin, we get compensation, and adopt something a little different next season to solve some of this year's issues. On one hand there are the quotes of him being young, promising and improving. On the other, the stark financial realities of a results based business.

He's bound to be on their radar. Why they're using radar and not data, results and management skills I'm not sure. 🙂 Norwich and Hull have dispensed with their managers for not going up. We don't know the direction the club might take if we don't.
