Funny enough, I was going to comment on this. Nope, wasn’t trolling. His finishing was (and questionably still is) poor. At the time, I didn’t rate him, I didn’t think he was of the level required. He’s changed my mind somewhat and I think playing with someone like Broja he’s more than useful in a 2. I still don’t think he’s good enough to play as a lone striker however, but fair play to him, confidence seems to have picked up a bit and hes certainly improved. Regarding the above post, my opinion hasn’t changed there. Although clearly he’s way more of a better option than Armstrong is. Hes gone from championship to good back up.

You’re one of those who gets in a fit of rage when a 2 Bob pundit dares to say anything negative about the club, aren’t you. No doubt tomorrow be in some sort of rage posting because Crooks hasn’t put X, Y or Z in his pointless team of the week.

We’ve got a weird set of supporters that follow us or at least the most vocal ones on the internet. Get so worked up over the smallest of things. Who gives a f**k what the MOTD pundits say. Watch the game / highlights and make your own decision on things. I tend to agree that perhaps Ralph shouldn’t have comment on United. I don’t think he meant it in poor taste, but it’s not really his squad to dig out (even if he was sticking up for his mate).

I think it’s a combination of a few things. United are a very average team at the minute, let’s get that straight. But; Romeu is quietly going about a really fantastic run of form. He’s the one player we cannot afford to lose. Armstrong and Moi are playing very well and are perfectly suited to that ‘10’ role. Without them, we cannot play this formation. We’re collectively playing with a load of confidence. A loss or 2 and we could easily go back into our shell and this system cannot afford to have 1 cog out of Sync. My view; it’s high reward but also very high risk. We can either be very good or very poor, there doesn’t seem to be much of an in between. Each game needs to be assessed on its due and we need to learn to play 2/3 formations (sometimes in 1 game, as shown today). That being said, Ralph has clearly learned to become more adaptive and it’s paying off. Fair play to him.

Pretty sure Dan Sheldon said something along these lines on the TSP earlier in the season.
-
Will they be exhausted though? As we were told they would be before today’s game. As I said; it’s a myth trotted out by the big clubs when things don’t go their way. When you’re winning or getting good results, you don’t feel the fatigue. so yes, same team please.

We’re starting to look like the side who came out of lockdown and went on that ridiculous run of form. It’s strange, Ralph’s time here has been littered with runs of form where we’re either brilliant or absolutely diabolical. There seems to be no in between. Let’s keep this up and an FA cup could well be on the cards this season. I’d fancy us to beat anyone.

A record defeat, it’s not going to be forgotten is it. As much as this place likes to try and brush under the carpet, it’s a terrible, terrible result for this club. One that’ll never be forgotten (until beaten, which won’t be for a long time).

Give me the best training and recovery facilities in the world, a personal chef and 90k a week for the privilege, and I’ll easily play 3 games in a week (especially so soon after a 2 week break where is just been sunning it up in the Maldives or wherever). As I said, happens in non league pretty much every other week. I done that for many years and was up at 5 the next morning for work 👍🏻 I would just caveat that there are some circumstances where it might be a bit much, coming back from injury or injury prone etc.
-
Broja running at Maguire in his current form is something that really excites me. CR against Bednerak is something that really worries me. 2-2 I’m going for.
-
It’s still nonsense though. Teams plays 3 times a week all the time. We’ve just had a 2 week break where the players fucked off on a relaxing holiday. International tournaments is a prime example where a heavy load of games are played in a short period of time, often in high temperatures. Non league, 3 games a week is a regular occurrence and 90% of the lads have spent the week grafting on a building site whilst not playing. The whole exhausted thing is just an excuse, often made by the bigger clubs, when they lose a game. Not buying it. They have the best facilities in the world to recover ffs.

cUnacceptable inconsistency and appalling standard of referees
Dman replied to cambsaint's topic in The Saints
Even more drivel. Somehow even stranger and more absolute bollox than the original post. To put your absolutely nonsense theory to bed. What you’re saying is that there are currently 22 premier league referee’s plus probably double that in linesman and every single one of them is in on this big conspiracy to cheat everyone other than 4 or 5 clubs, despite getting 0 benefit from it personally. You’re talking absolute shite. -

What a load of drivel, as per from you. -
I’ve said it before. He’s out most important player. JWP or Diallo can play next to him, but not together. Romeu has seemingly got better with age. Top player. I hope unlike Fonte, we don’t try and be smart and think he can easily be replaced, I think he can play at this level for a while yet.

VAR is just a video replay. You still have the same people controlling it, so naturally, you’re going to get the same decisions. VAR in itself isn’t the issue. It’s the humans controlling it.
-
Yeah it was a weird one. To be honest, I think they got it wrong, knew they got it wrong, so made up any excuse to excuse their wrong doing. It’s amazing that something so simple as a video replay, can be royally fucked up by POGMOL. I can excuse on field mistakes. The pace of the game, being the man in the middle can be a really difficult job. I can also excuse a differing opinion on a foul, football is about opinions. But absolute nonsense like this is just unacceptable. It’s a farce.
-
Agree with this. Although, I do think with a bit of work and exposure to that role, he could do well there. He’s quick, strong and seems decent enough on the ball. His best position is RWB in a back 3, imo.
-
Ability and defensively wise, maybe they’re equal if not better, however it upsets the balance of the team. Having a left footed player at left back offers us natural with and the ability to whip a cross in that side, rather than KWP who needs to cut back often into the same space in which the attacker is in.
-
If we’re going to continue to play with 2 ‘10’s’ rather than out and out wingers / forwards, He is by far (Armstrong aside) our most suited to that role. I think he’s done alright this season, if I’m honest. Seems to be playing with confidence. Id give him a new deal and f**k off Redmond, Theo and Djenepo (if we can find a buyer for any of that tosh). Still an area we need improvement in though.

Best performance I’ve seen from us in my recent memory. To a man. Very much deserved. Need to tidy up in front of goal, glad it didn’t cost us today. Easy win Saturday if we play like that.

50 ‘lad points’ to you. Well done, Sue. Lads, lads, lads!!!

The odds on us winning something is very, very low though. Even if we have a relatively successful cup run (I say relatively as coming 2nd,3rd,4th isn’t a success imo), we still would need to pull off an unlikely victory in the semi final / final, as shown in our recent ‘successful’ runs. Personally, I don’t foresee us winning anything for the next 15-20 years. Probably even longer at the rate the gap of the bigger clubs is getting. I agree with Coalman here, if a player ‘wants to win something’ he’s not going to want to stay with us. That being said, I don’t think the players would just down tools if they knew Ralph was going… realistically he’s not a huge name and he’s not loved by the squad in the same way Poch was.
-
Huge loss for Brighton. Very good appointment by Newcastle. Potter could well follow him up there at some point next season.
-
If I were him, I’d hold off signing a new deal. 1 - because another season like this one, he’ll have some decent sized clubs sniffing around. Especially if he’s got 6months or less on his contract. 2 - the longer he waits, the less time he has on his contract, the more desperate we’ll become and will result in a larger ££ for him. It seems like more and more players are letting their contracts dwindle and becoming free agents. Even at the highest level (Pogba, Mbappe etc..). I could see this becoming the norm (players hold all the power), which isn’t great for a model like ours.
-
Agreed. Salisu will be key to how I rate our summer window. If he has no intention to sign a new deal, I could see him being sold… it’s a bit of a worry, if I’m honest.
