  1. I kind of get it. Generally speaking, if you're getting someone in on loan in the championship, its because they're not good enough for the leauge above. You run the risk, as we did Downes, of getting a player who is key to the system to the point where you can't not sign them, but not good enough to step up and/or outside of that system. Downes having such a good season for us meant we probably paid 5m over what we should have.

    Finn Azaz

Charles / Downes, Fernandes* Guilvaogui** Azaz Robinson Archer Is what I'd be looking at. Maybe slightly attacking, but at this level, you're not getting much better than that. * assuming he stays ** assuming he signs and we dont get another.
  3. i don't disagree with the fact they're pretty average players, but they were experienced in this leauge (top end in the case of THB). Hindsight is wonderful, but we absolutely overpaid for them.
  4. maybe he'll score more when played out on the wing then 😂
  5. The difference is, this fella looks to be a genuine winger (what we need) and has attributes outside of a few goals. Pace, power etc. BBD has absolutely nothing going for him. Too slow to be a winger, doesn't appear to be a genuine number 9, appalling first touch etc.
  6. I said it previously, but if we can find a way to get the best out of Archer, he'll be the leading scorer in the leauge this year. Still managed it with Balagon, who has a similar profile, it'd be interesting to see if he can do something simiar here. The key will be a quality number 10. I think Azaz would fit the bill nicely.
  7. I tend to agree tbf. Whilst not polific, over the past 3 years, regular game time in Ligue 1 and bundesliga is something that not many of our other attacking players would get. So he's clearly doing something right. Wouldn't be keen if he is our star signing, but certainly looks like he could do a job for us. Getting some quality in the 10 is what we deseperatley need to not skimp out on.
  8. I thought that of Sugawara and BBD and they were possibly one of the worst players, pound for pound, that i've seen in a saints shirt.
  9. I reckon at the very least, we'll get 2 wingers in and a number 10. Azaz, Guilavogui, Rak-sakyi. If we go into the Skate game with a starting 11 that loosely resembles something like this, I'd be relateivly comfortable; Bazunu Mads, Stephens, THB, Manning Charles, Downes (MF will be off imo). Rak-sakyi Azaz Robinson Archer
  10. On the face of it.. Pro's: You'd have to imagine Will Still knows him and has signed the deal off. Must see something in him. (however he went out on loan a month after WS joined the Lens as manager...) Probably relatively cheap. Cons: Seemingly everything else.

Not re-writing history, however, 'one swallow doesn't make a summer'. History has shown us that he (Bazunu) is not good enough over the course of a season at this level nor the one above. He's been okay in the 3 games this season but has a long way to go to convince me he's up to the standard we require. imo, whilst you never expect a keeper to save a penalty, he coulda, probably shoulda done better with the wrexham penalty (it was a fairly poor pen) and I don't think he covered himself in glory on Saturday with the second goal. He seems to have issues with getting down low to his left.
  12. One thing you can't knock from this window is the ability to shift deadwood. We should end up with a much smaller squad, which is one win at least.
  13. It wont be anywhere near as high as what it would cost if he was still at a club and a fraction of what we'll receive for Fernandes..
  14. I mean, signing Brownhill would hardly be taking a punt. You'd assume that he'll end up in the PL, but he is exactly the sort of player we should be in the market for.... which is why it wont happen.
  15. If wellington’s injury is a bad one, I wonder if that means Taylor is kept around…?
  16. It feels like a bit of a no brainer. Enough quality to improve us this season. Cheap enough to disregard if we go up next season.
  17. Imagine this place if we’d signed Welbeck at the point when Brighton did.
  18. I said experienced in “British football”, not the PL. Now back in your box you weird little man. Bad morning for you.
  19. Well that’s total rubbish. Forster - over 100 appearances at Celtic before he came to us. Fonte - 80 odd appearances at Palace and a coup at the time of purchasing. Clyne - 122 appearances at palace. Jack cork - over 100 appearances at multiple clubs. Steve Davis - over 200 appearances in the PL and Rangers combined. Shane long - over 200 appearances at multiple clubs.
  20. Maybe I’m naive, but for me, you build a core of experienced players and then you build around them with the younger, guaranteed to improve, risks. Look at our squad under Koeman, Forster, Fonte, Bertrand, Clyne, Schneiderlin, Cork, Steve Davis, Shane long. All been there and done it in British football. Some not the best players, but hard working and experience gave them a 7/10 most games. A ‘British’ core who know the league will give you a solid foundation to let players like Mane, Tadic, Pelle etc. flourish. Bournemouth and Brighton have been the same over recent years. I genuinely believe that if Sullemana had been signed for someone like Brighton or Bournemouth, he’d have been a decent PL player now.
  21. Martyn Glover.
  22. Koeman was the pull factor, not the club. We’re still trying to pay 2010 transfer fee’s and wages in a crowded market. a club on decline with no ambition. Happy just to survive. What top player in their right mind would want to join us.
  23. We needed to replace Ramsdale. He was our number 1. History has shown us Baz isn’t good enough over the course of a season to be our number 1. For me, Johansson is a PL keeper, get him in. He’d have done for this season and next, in the event we went up.

The problem being, the other 2 keepers in-front of him aren't good enough either. We’re just off the back of a game where a top class keeper won the 3 points. That alone should have been an eye opener.
  25. Huge week for Spors. He said previously that squad planning doesn’t make sense until the end, but we look so far off it, I genuinely think we could end up being mid-table if we don’t get this week right. So far, his record with us is underwhelming. - Failed to get Rohl. - Chased the Russian all window when seemingly neither the selling club or the player were all that keen on making the deal happen. - Signed 2 players, both of whom look out of their depth. I was optimistic when he came in, but to-date, it’s not looking like he is having the impact we need.
