They're clearly desperate for it to be Tonda

If they appoint Eckert its the final straw for me. We're a complete mess and need a strong head to steer and steady the ship for a season or 2. Eckert might be the right man long term, but its setting everyone up to fail if they appoint him now. If this goes the way its looking, its time to seriously protest. Lowe levels.

Final nail in the SR coffin if they appoint O’Neil imo. From a footballing perspective I think he actually would suit us and would be a decent appointment, but most (including me) will struggle to see past him Pompey connections. Essentially he’ll need to out perform any other appointment by 10% for the vast majority to be onboard. And he’ll need to do it instantly. However, on the face of it a pretty solid option for a championship side looking to steady the ship. I’m assuming Stephen’s would have played under him for a short period at Bournemouth.

A win is a win and the 3 points are all that matter. Much like playing well and not winning also means naff all. Sometimes you need something like that to kick start the season, but well need to improve and pretty quickly. can't really judge the u-21 fella either positively or negatively as he probably had a day on the training ground with them, but seemed to play round pegs in round holes (fellows aside). One thing I would point out is how mentally fucked we are. The last 15 minutes was absolutely pathetic.

What a likeable bloke. One that'll move on pretty quickly and it'll be well deserved imo.

Just caught up on the press confrence. Feels like a sliding door moment for Still, but to his credit, I liked what I heard. He talks well and says the right things. Ultimatley he needs a result (win) on saturday otherwise its all in vain. Personally feel like its too late for him to turn the tide now.

Bollox. THB has been a key figure in 2 promoted sides. Stephens, for all his faults, has carved out a relatively sucssful career in the PL. Wood vastly experienced at this level. Edwards QPR player of the season last year. They're not the best, I agree with that, but get on the front foot and attack teams. Let them worry about our forward line and their defence.. not the other way round. 20 other sides in this leauge would die for our options at CB.

We have to find a buyer. We paid a decent whack for him which means we're going to have to lose a decent whack on him.

This geezers head and heart haven't been in it since his mate got the boot. Move on in Jan (if we can) and look to replace.
-
I probably sounds like a broken record, but we've only seen Downs under, what is imo a poor manager. I'm reluctant to judge until we see him in a side with a proper manager in the dugout.
-
It was 100% both. Look at thier thoughts on Thelwell.

Danny Rohl was up until a week ago. He's had a week on the training ground and transformed Rangers. A side who's fans were blaming summer recuritment etc. Before you say "its rangers theyre expected to win every week"... so are we in the championship.

We sacked Selles (clearly never suitable for the job anyway) and then immediately got promoted the following season?
-
Alternatively, its 3 winnable games we could easily waste. For me, whilst i wanted him gone and it was clear he had to, at least under Martin you had a sense (up until the end) that we weren't a million miles off it and it was just his ridiclous stubborness to 1 style that was causing the problems. I just can't see anything from Still's side to say "if he changes that, we'll improve"
-
As a side who've recently been relegated, he is exactly the type of player we should be a fit for us. The players who make a difference. Score and set up the goals to get us promoted. The fact we're backs against the walls in most games, not getting the ball to the luxury players in the final 3rd sums up how poorly we've been managed.

I know its captain hindsight over here, but I genuinely feared for us after watching our first pre-season game against Eastleigh, where, much like the rest of this season, we struggled to break them down and had no clear pattern or style. I put it down as first game, things will improve, but in reality, they haven't. Personally think the writting has been on the walls since the Pompey game, the perforamnce was that bad - but up until this week was willing to give until the next international window for him to turn it around. Despite knowing that he's not going to. Things have changed this week imo. I think if we don't act urgently, we are in great danger of being dragged into a relegation scrap - which I don't think we have the bottle to get out of.

tbf, if you're an english CM and you've got the choice to play for either Frank Lampard or Will Still, its an absolute no brainer.

Exactly, I honestly do not get the Spors hate. Blaming the recuirtment this summer is an easy / lazy arguement to defend a clearly out of his depth manager. Granted, not signing a decent GK was an oversight we all knew, but our hands were slightly tied by the fact noone wanted to buy Ramsdale and we could only shift onloan. Downs hasn't worked to date, but I'd like to see him in a system that suits him under a different manager before writting him off completely. Other than that, our defence on the face of it is/was more than good enough with Edwards returning - I don't think anyone could have predicted THB turning into a sunday leauge player. Our options in midfield of Downes, Jander & Charles looks more than capable on paper. Scienza looks PL class and Fellows & Azaz are proven at this level over a numebr of years, as is Armstrong. We should be underperofming and still be in and around the top 6 - a bit like Leciester - to be 18th is pure negligence and poor management.
-
I've aboslutely no idea if he has any interest in coaching, nor if he'll be any good, but I think someone bringing in Jose Fonte as either assistant or some form of coaching capacity would be a master stroke. Knows & loves the club, he is a winner who's played at the highest level, and probably the last genunine leader we had at the club.
-
I'm not aruging they are - clearly they aren't. The question is probably why are these people leaving..? But to say, to MLG's point, its better to have someone for a short period that everyone wants, is clearly nonsense.. as proven by the past 2 years.
-
I want saints to sign staff (and by staff we mean the man setting the strategy of the club), who stay in a job long enough to actually make a difference.
-
At the point where I don't really care. We'll probably narrowly win, which'll keep Still in a job and we'll plod along for another week.
-
This is the part I just don't get. We're so far detached from what Still said he was going to do. Has he second guessed himself? Is he struggling to adapt to be the 'big fish'? Either way, we look lost... Ironically, he'd probably be a half decent fit if we'd appointed him in the PL.
-
Exactly. Its easy to highlight 1 or 2 chances a game and assume a striker should score every single one of them (not even Haaland would do that), but that doesn't highlight the fact the 95% of those games has been completely insufferable to watch.
