To be clear, I said 7 months not 13 years...
-
I’m assuming this is sarcasm but I can assure you it’s true. Fact is, we haven’t scored in almost 70 per cent. of our home games in the last 7 months and he’s been unlucky to miss the 4 where we’ve managed to find the net.
-
One of my friends has a season ticket but hasn't seen us score for 7 months. In the last 13 home games, we've scored in 4 of them. He's only seen those where we've drawn blanks at a cost of over £500 on tickets and train fares.
-
The fact we have the fifth most expensive season ticket in the league is ridiculous enough as it is - let alone the fact that we are, statistically, the worst value for money in the league given our goalscoring woes. Les and team should look at that and be embarrassed but, as others have said, whilst the fans keep coming nothing will happen.
-
If he genuinely thinks that we need a change.
-
How do you know? We haven’t had a game since he posted it. He said he was on thin ice and had to change his style, not that he was about to be imminently sacked. No wonder nobody with any sort of insider knowledge wants to post it - they are called out every time it’s perceived as incorrect (even where it’s been misunderstood).
-
Pellegrino’s quality as a manager has absolutely nothing to do with Puel. No, you’re right he won’t take Leicester down but he didn’t take us down either - the fact that Puel (who I really didn’t think was the right fit for us) did considerably better with a weaker squad than Pellegrino has just shows how bad our current incumbent is.
-
If MP is retained then I think there is a very real chance we will go down with Palace and Swansea. Terrible, terrible manager.
-
Remind me the last time he scored FOR us or how many he got last season?
-
Austin is the only striker yet to get a chance this season. He keeps scoring in these behind closed doors friendlies and scored a few in pre season too. Has to get a chance soon. If he doesn’t work out fair enough but given that the ineffectual Shane Long has been given a chance we need to afford Austin the same courtesy.
-
Exactly. He was always a risky appointment, the hope I had was that Balague raves about him. His CV is significantly worse than Puel’s do not clear how he was going to be an upgrade. His Alaves team also struggled to score which was the problem he was appointed to address. Very odd one from Big Les.
-
Surely if we get hammered at Anfield and then lose at home to Everton (who will likely have Big Sam by then) we will start looking elsewhere?
-
For me it’s relatively obvious, our current malaise stems from us meekly surrendering the strongest position the club has ever been in following the 2015/6 season. In the space of a couple of weeks we had: - lost our manager - sold our two best attackers - lost the bedrock of our midfield Add to that our appointment of a “off the wall” managerial choice at the expense of more established options that were supposedly keen to join us, a chronic lack of investment and a lingering takeover. No club of our size has any hope of dealing with all that in a single season.
-
Agree that it’s a good summary but need to be wary of consistency for the sake of consistency. It’s only worth persevering with Pellegrino if we have confidence he will turn it around. For me, he’s shown absolutely nothing to make me think we will return to being a successful, attractive side under his leadership. Whilst there are serious deficiencies in the squad, it is more than good enough to remain in the division and considerably better than some of the sides we’ve faced and dropped points against. Sometimes you need to admit you’ve made a mistake and rectify it with minimal damage. IMO that’s what we need to do here. How many were calling for stability under Gray or Wigley? It looks as though we are dealing with a similar quality manager here - keeping him represents a significant risk of being dragged in or, heaven forbid, even relegated this year something which we shouldn’t even be discussing with the squad we’ve got. I hope I’m wrong and he turns it round as I just know Les won’t pull the plug on him until we are down the bottom post January which may mean it’s too late with all the fixtures we will have wasted.
-
The man is so clearly out of his depth its painful. Put him out of his misery.
-
That is my real fear. Reed is definitely deluded enough to pull a Wigley/Black on us IMO. If he does we are down.
-
Not a chance we would attract Howe or that Reed would go for a manager that isn’t available on a free.
-
You mean we huffed and puffed, couldn’t score and then fell apart when the opposition sensed we were there for the taking? If that’s counts as controlling the game and being the better side then you’re as deluded as MP in his post match comments today.
-
There was no way we were ever getting him and even less chance now.
-
Ummm, we were the better side at Everton?! We got spanked 3-0.
-
The way we are playing at the moment I can’t see many wins. We will get a point or two. Depends how late my we persevere with MP. The sooner he goes the quicker we will pick up.
-
Sadly this is true, dithering les won’t pull the trigger this early. Frustrating as it’s clear MP is a complete no hoper.
-
Given how close we came to (reportedly) appointing FDB in the summer I wouldn’t be surprised if we went for him. Who knows, he could even have been our first choice but chose Palace? We’d be done for sure if we appointed him although we do have the players to play his favoured 3-5-2. Pretty slim pickings but if we could tempt Rogers from Celtic I’d be ok with that. If we want to guarantee survival than get Big Sam but that might set us back from any hope of being top six contenders in the short term.
-
If he thinks that is anything like good enough he needs to be on the next plane out of here. Clueless.
-
Keep playing this way?! Christ on a bike.
